Far Eastern University ended its UAAP Season 88 men's basketball first round campaign on a high note and kept University of the East winless after emerging on top, 95-76, at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, October 19.
The Tamaraws halted their 2-game slide to rise to 2-5 for seventh place, while the Red Warriors dropped to 0-7 at the bottom and lost their 13th straight game dating back to last season.
FEU dominated UE in the middle quarters, 52-35, to enter the fourth with a 20-point 74-54 lead and take control for the remainder of the contest.
Jorick Bautista pumped 22 points and four rebounds while Janrey Pasaol also came through with 17 points and 10 assists.
Precious Momowei hammered 23 points and 11 rebounds for UE, which played without head coach Chris Gavina who was serving the first of his 4-game suspension.
The league suspended Gavina for his profanity-laden remarks against the officiation of the UE-La Salle game last Wednesday.
Red Warriors scoring ace Wello Lingolino was also not in the game as he sat the first of his 3-game ban for his unsportsmanlike foul on La Salle's Kean Baclaan last Wednesday, diving for the ball that led to the latter's injury.
The unsportsmanlike foul didn't sit well for Gavina, leading to his outburst during the post-game presser of the contest.
