Hi everyone this is Andy welcome back to easy cooking as you can see today's video is another
00:09
Halloween recipe this one was perfect with the recipe I made on my last video the pasta I'm
00:14
going to be showing you how to make cream biscuits really easy to make super delicious I'm going to
00:18
be shaping them like spiders so they are perfect for the party the preparation time and the cooking
00:23
time combined is going to be about 35 minutes I really hope you like this video let's get started
00:30
you will find the list of ingredients in the description box of this video and you will also
00:34
find it in my blog where you can print the whole recipe let's get started preheat the oven to 400
00:41
degrees Fahrenheit in a large bowl sift the dry ingredients the flour the salt and the baking
00:47
powder stir well and then add in the water and the shortening make sure both the water and shortening
00:53
are really cold and cut into small pieces now we're going to combine this until we get a texture
00:59
similar to coarse breadcrumbs once you get the right texture now add in the cream and stir until
01:07
everything is well combined into a smooth dough do not overwork the dough if you overwork it you will
01:13
end up with really hard biscuits and if your dough is looking to dry feel free to add a little more
01:19
cream I ended up adding one more teaspoon of cream sometimes the flour tends to be drier when it's cold
01:25
outside so feel free to add a little more liquid if necessary once the dough is ready now we're going
01:32
to roll it out on a flour surface we're going to roll it out to a half an inch thickness and I'm going
01:39
to use this cutter to make all the biscuits about the same size you can make them any size you want
01:44
and once the biscuits are all cut out now we're going to shape them I want my biscuits to look like
01:49
spiders so I'm going to grab the circle and I'm going to roll it into a ball to make the spider
01:55
I need to shape the ball into a bigger ball for the body and a smaller ball for the head so I'm
02:02
just pinching or grabbing a little bit of the dough and bringing it to the front to form the head like
02:08
I said the hair will be smaller than the rest of the body so just keep on shaping it until you think is
02:13
the right size and to make the legs I'm going to use the leftover dough each spider will have six legs
02:20
so for each spider I'll make three long sticks with the leftover dough and then I'm just going to pinch
02:25
the sticks together right in the middle to bring them together just like you see in the video and
02:30
then place the spider right on top of the legs you can moist the dough with a little bit of water or
02:36
cream to attach the body to the legs and once the body is attached to the legs now we're going to
02:42
shape the legs a little bit so you spend them a little bit to give them a more realistic look
02:46
you don't want them to look like sticks just keep on repeating these steps until you're done if
02:55
your spiders have a lot of cracks on the surface you can dip your fingers in a little bit of cream
03:00
or water and just soften the cracks with your fingers with the leftover dough you can also make
03:05
the eyes for the spiders I'm just making tiny little balls with the leftover dough and to attach them
03:10
I'm just going to moist them with a little bit of cream or water and then I'm going to stick them
03:14
in place and that's about it now with a knife or a toothpick I'm going to poke the spider body a couple
03:22
times and this step is optional this will make a few holes in the body to give them a more realistic
03:27
look but like I said this step is optional and now we're going to bake them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for
03:33
about 10 minutes while they are baking over here I have two tablespoons of melted butter and I'm going
03:39
to season it with a little bit of Italian seasoning and a little bit of garlic salt stir well and then
03:46
set this aside for a minute and this is how the spiders look after 10 minutes as you can see they
03:51
are not perfect but spiders are not pretty or perfect at all so I think they are looking great for a
03:56
Halloween dinner now we're going to brush them with a little bit of melted butter we need very few
04:02
water for this so don't go crazy with it just add enough to give them some color and then place them
04:08
back in the oven for another five more minutes and after five more minutes they should be completely
04:13
cooked and they should also have a beautiful brown color and this is how they look like I said they
04:19
are not perfect at all I think the cracks on the biscuits only add more charm and personality to the
04:24
spiders and the water made them crisp and golden brown on the outside so they are perfect they are
04:30
delicious they are kind of big so you can make them smaller if you want they might not be cute but they
04:36
are perfect for the Halloween party enjoy to print this and some other delicious recipes please don't
