00:00Hello and welcome to India today and a special story called SoSort where we bring the main stories from the states of
00:16Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra and Telangana and for the day also we have very special stories from all these states.
00:23Important stories, not just the stories but the flavours and the essence as well.
00:28Let's go to our reporters, Sagai Raj, Apooraj Jayachandran, Anaga Keshav, Abdul Bashir and Shibhimol for the top stories of the day.
00:46We have a breaking from the Supreme Court right now, this is about Telangana state and this is about the reservation bill, 50% to be increased
00:55and that was actually contested in the High Court and as we speak a plea was also filed by the Telangana government in the Supreme Court
01:03where right now the Supreme Court has dismissed that plea and now it is a major setback for the state of Telangana.
01:09How it is going to approach with it, what happened in the Supreme Court, we have Shrija, Shrija Oja, thank you for joining us.
01:16Could you please tell us what happened in the Supreme Court with the case?
01:18Well yes, it's definitely a big setback for the Telangana government from the Supreme Court.
01:25The court has dismissed a plea that was filed by the state challenging High Court's interim order stating that decision to increase the backward classes reservation that reaches breaching the 50% limit.
01:38The court has observed that there are several previous judgments that don't allow for the breach of this 50% ceiling limit.
01:45However, the court has clarified that Supreme Court's dismissal will not affect the High Court proceedings in any manner
01:51and the High Court should decide the case that is pending before the court on its own merits without being influenced by Supreme Court's order today.
02:01We also saw the court question the council why the reservation was not brought in before the elections were notified.
02:09The court was told that this was done because the governor had kept the bill pending without granting assent
02:15and the bill became a law only based on a deemed assent in terms of the Supreme Court's judgment in the Tamil Nadu governor case
02:24and without making any challenge to the law, a stay has now been secured.
02:28So, detailed arguments were heard by the top court but the top court has decided to not entertain the state's plea
02:35and has dismissed Telangana's case against the interim stay granted by the Telangana High Court.
02:42Back to you.
02:47Thank you so much, Srishti.
02:48And for the stories from Navma Karnataka, the political Nataka and such, let's go to Sagai Raj.
02:58Thank you Pramod.
03:05Infosys founder Narayan Muthi and his wife Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Muthi declined to take part in the ongoing
03:11socio-economic and educational survey in Karnataka.
03:14When the survey team reached their house, they told the enumerators that the survey is of no use to the government.
03:21In the self-declaration from dated October 10, which seems to be signed by Sudha Muthi.
03:28She mentioned that they don't belong to any backward caste and there is no use taking part in the survey and they wish to opt out of the survey.
03:37The couple is within the legal limits by refusing to take part in the survey as the Karnataka High Court had ruled that the participation in the survey is not mandatory
03:49and also that enumerators cannot insist on answers from the public.

04:51A breaking news coming in. D.K. Shukumar recounts BJP poaching bid. D.K.S. drops BJP off a bombshell. D.K. Shukumar claims that he was offered Deputy Chief Minister's post in BJP rule and he has rejected the BJP offer and instead chose the jail.
05:08Former Delhi cop threatened him and said that you choose the DCM post or let's go to jail.
05:21D.K. Shukumar claims that if you choose the DCM post or let's go to jail, you should go to jail and then go to jail and then go to jail.
05:31So, I am here. What do you do?
05:34I have a ticket to the Paksha. I have a ticket to the Hajiw Gandhi.
05:41I have a ticket to the Mantri. I have a ticket to the Bangarapna. I have a ticket to the Paksha.
05:46I have a ticket to the Paksha. I have a ticket to the Paksha. I have a ticket to the Paksha.
05:53So, I have a ticket to the Paksha. I have a ticket to the Paksha.
05:56Once again, Minister Priyankar Gaye has locked horns with RSS.
06:03This time, he has penned a letter to Chief Minister Siddharamaya urging strict actions against government employees participating in RSS events.
06:13He cited civil services rules and requested a circular warning disciplinary action.
06:20Priyankar Gaye requested that directions be issued to ensure strict prohibition of such participation and warned off disciplinary action against violators.
06:31This comes days after he wrote to Siddharamaya seeking a ban on RSS activities in government premises,
06:39calling them unconstitutional and against the spirit of national unity.
06:46In my own department, there are a lot of people who have attended the centenary celebrations of RSS in the Ghanavesha,
06:55hold brandishing lattes. They are state government employees, permanent employees, and they can do that.
07:00And I have already issued them show cause notices. They will be suspended in a day or two.
07:04This is the letter, 2013, where Mr. Jagdish Shatter, when he was the CM, says that besides the educational activities
07:14and activities that are in the syllabus should be practiced within the government schools and colleges
07:22and no other activities shall be given permission. So, what does that make BJP? Anti-RSS?
07:27Anti-RSS?

07:54and there is a lot of opinion in the cabinet and there is a lot of opinion in the cabinet.
08:02Chilling murder uncovered in Bengaluru. What was thought to be a natural death has turned into
08:08a cold calculated murder. Police have arrested Dr. Mahindra Reddy, a journal surgeon from for
08:15allegedly killing his wife Dr. Kritika Reddy, a dermatologist at Victoria Hospital using his
08:22medical expertise. Police say Mahindra misused his access to hospital drugs and tried to stage
08:29the murder as a medical emergency. The couple had married less than a year. Investigators say
08:36Mahindra administered powerful anaesthetic injections, the same drugs used in operation
08:43theatres. While visiting his office, sorry, while visiting his wife who was unwell and staying
08:50with her parents, Kritika collapsed and was declared dead in April. Initially treated as an unnatural
08:57death, both months later, forensic tests revealed traces of propofol confirming she was poisoned
09:07with the controlled substances. And that's all from Karnataka. Let us go to my colleague,
09:15Pramod Madhav, who will bring more details on kidney racket from the state.
09:20Pramod Madhav. Thank you so much, Sakai. A very important day for the state of Tamil Nadu,
09:32the third day of the assembly, but the second day of the verbal battle that is inside the assembly
09:37happening between the chief minister, M.K. Stalin and the leader of the opposition,
09:41Edapadi K. Praniswamy. In fact, for the day, AADMK choose to raise the kidney racket issue. Not just that,
09:48they actually wore a kind of a badge saying that kidney, which means beware of your kidneys,
09:54in a way trying to claim that the kidneys in the state of Tamil Nadu are in danger, highlighting the
10:00fact that there was a racket that was recently shown how a DMK MLA-involved hospital was involved
10:07in this particular racket where innocent and poor people were made to, you know, actually sell their
10:11kidneys for a price of 5 to 10 lakhs. This turned out to be a huge issue in the assembly with a verbal
10:17battle between the chief minister and the leader of opposition.
10:23K. Praniswamy.

10:48K. Praniswamy.
10:49Well, while this discussion was happening inside the assembly, where several questions were
11:07raised by the leader of the opposition, Edapati K. Pariyaswamy, the health minister, tried
11:11to provide an answer, stating that this was the action taken and such. But there is a
11:15major issue about creating a special investigation team by the High Court order. What happened
11:20to it? All this was being discussed. There was a video that was released by A.R.A.D.M.K.
11:25IT Wing Aswell. This is kind of showing how the kidney racket occurred. Simply, a person
11:31is being lured in, an amount is given and as an innocent, poor person comes inside, his
11:36kidney is being taken away. That's how the actual caricature or the cartoon kind of like
11:42showed what exactly happened in that Traselam, Trichy and Namakal belt. In fact, we have
11:48Anaka Keshav live with us. Thank you so much for joining us, Anaka. You are in the assembly.
11:52What exactly happened inside the assembly today?
11:58Well, in fact, promote the opposition, Edapati K. Pariyaswamy and his MLA-san, you know, they
12:03raised a very pertinent question about the Namakal kidney racket issue and demanded action
12:09against all those involved in it. A lot of questions were also being raised about the
12:13fact that this particular private hospital, one is Dhana Lakshmi Srinivasan private hospital
12:19in Perambalur and number two is the Seder Hospital in Trichy. A lot of questions were being raised
12:25about the manner in which vulnerable sections of the society, men and women who belong to the
12:30textile manufacturing sector, very financially weaker people who were made to sell their kidneys
12:35for a price of 5 to 10 lakhs, you know, just to provide for their families. That's the kind of
12:41vulnerability exploitation that we saw here in Tamil Nadu in exchange for kidney sale. So a lot of
12:46questions were raised by the opposition about this particular issue. And we had the health minister,
12:51Masu Brahmaniam, also give answers to all the questions that was raised by the opposition.
12:56In fact, the health minister stated that two middlemen, one Stanley Mohan and number two
13:01Anandan, both these middlemen were key figures who were involved in exploiting vulnerable sections
13:08of the society, you know, forcing them to sell their kidneys in exchange for money. So these two
13:14brokers have been arrested, number one. And number two, seven officers who are in the health department
13:20have been suspended is what we hear. Action is being taken against these seven officers is what
13:26health minister, Masu Brahmaniam also stated. And another important action that's being taken
13:31by the government is that the organ transplant license of these two private hospitals. One,
13:36the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan private hospital, which has links to DMK MLA and number two,
13:41the Saedhar Hospital in Trichy. So for these two hospitals, the organ transplant license has been revoked.
13:47So this is the key action that's been taken by the Tamil Nadu government. FIR has also been registered
13:53against those two brokers who were involved. In fact, the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court
13:58had constituted an SIT comprising of top IPS officers in Tamil Nadu in order to interrogate
14:05and investigate this particular matter. And upon that investigation, two brokers have been arrested.
14:11In fact, the investigation is still underway, post which we'll really find out how many more
14:15such people are involved in this kidney racket.
14:20Well, thank you, Anagai. I request you to stay back with us for the next important story.
14:25Death is also involving an incident that occurred on 27th of September, an extreme tragedy,
14:31something Tamil Nadu will never forget. 41 lives were lost at Karur on that fateful day during Vijay,
14:38the Tamil Nadu Vichy Karagam leader's campaign at that spot. And right now, once again, it has become a news as
14:44Annamalai, the BJP leader, has come in support of TVK with a lot of questions about how the Tamil Nadu government
14:51handles this particular situation and asking why the officials were on the ground, no action taken against them so far.
14:58This comes after the Chief Minister, MK Stalin, spoke yesterday in the Assembly as to what happened.
15:03The Chief Minister blamed the organization, that is, TVK, for whatever happened over there.
15:08He claimed that Vijay came late. Even though the time frame was given between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.,
15:14he said that the organizers said Vijay would come over there by 12 p.m., that led to the chaos over there.
15:19And the Chief Minister also said that the organization did not make the necessary arrangements.
15:24However, now Annamalai comes forward with a lot of questions, especially about what actions were taken
15:29against the officials who were on the ground, who were responsible to make sure that the organizations
15:34had taken these precautions with the way the leavened conditions that was imposed upon them
15:39and were they followed or not. Here is what happened inside the Assembly.
15:44We had a bunch of questions.
15:47If you asked them, thank you.
15:49And you would want to make sure that the local government is suspended to the police if you were
16:01in the background.
16:02The name is Professor of Goal.
16:04He's also is the case of a attorney.
16:06Why can't you get any legal claims?
16:08He's been persecuted his caso.
16:10He's always been claimed to be excluded from India.
16:12That's what he says.
16:14He's been suspended from the NAV.
16:16Why does he do it?
16:18We've got that.
16:20He has a defender
16:22The claim on his behalf.
16:24He is able to do it.
16:26He's okay.
16:28He's okay.
16:30That was BJP leader Annamalai asking serious questions on this particular matter.
16:42In fact, such a kind of action was also taken during the unfortunate Kadalur Hoots tragedy
16:47where 63 people died.
16:48The action was taken against the SP and the collector at that point.
16:51We also have Anaka Keshav live with us.
16:53Anaka, what are the questions, these serious questions are being put forward by Annamalai
16:57and has DMK in any way responded to them?
17:04You know, Pramod, Annamalai raises some very pertinent questions
17:08regarding the manner in which Tamil Nadu government reacted after the Karur tragedy broke out.
17:13You know, the Tamil Nadu government was swift to take action against the organizers of this event.
17:19Be it the Karur district secretary Madhi Aragan or Kadar's belonging to Namakal district from TV.
17:25Like, you know, the Tamil Nadu government was very quick to file FIR on Busi Anand,
17:29on CT Dirmal Kumar who are top people in TVK.
17:33But why not so much for its own officers?
17:36You know, when it's the government who is administering,
17:39when it's the government that has the power,
17:41why no action was being taken at least on a local sub-inspector
17:45is what Annamalai questions.
17:46In fact, he also takes example saying that even when there are very minor incidents involving one or two deaths,
17:52at least the local sub-inspector gets suspended.
17:55But why in a tragedy of this scale, of this nature,
17:58when 51 lives have been killed in this tragedy,
18:01why no action against the officers in the government is what Annamalai questions.
18:06In fact, you know, if you look at that overall picture,
18:08the onus lies on both the government and TVK.
18:12But while the government was very swift to take action against the organisers of that event,
18:17that's Tamil Nadu Vetche Karagam,
18:18no action was taken against the officers,
18:20be it the collector, tehsildar, sub-inspector or the SP, none.
18:24No action against police officers,
18:26but all action was taken only against the organisers of that event.
18:30So Annamalai has raised some very pertinent questions
18:32about the manner in which Tamil Nadu government has reacted on the Karoor tragedy.
18:42Thank you so much, Hanaga, with all those information you've joined us.
18:44And for an important story about how our neighbouring states, Karnataka and Teala Andhra,
18:49are actually a kind of an investment rivalry is brewing upon.
18:53Let's go to Abdul Bashir.
19:06Andhra Pradesh, IT Minister and Karnataka is ongoing.
19:10Now this is Karnataka on the investment, the Google AI hub,
19:13where Andhra Pradesh has backed the AI hub, hitting Karnataka's investment.
19:19Now here, what we are learning is that the ADMK leader and former minister, Tangamani,
19:24has hit out at the DMK government, the Tamil Nadu government,
19:27stating that they did not put much efforts in bringing Google AI hub to Tamil Nadu,
19:33wherein Google's CEO, Sudhar Pichai, is a Tamilian.
19:36And the Tamil Nadu government must have taken efforts to bring the Google AI hub to Tamil Nadu.
19:44Well here, what we are learning is that the Dakshina, the Dakshina king of investments,
19:50the real fight between the Dakshina king of investments is ongoing,
19:54where Andhra Pradesh has scored the Google AI hub and Karnataka is under fire.
20:00Now Tamil Nadu's Foxconn has added fuel to the fire.
20:04The battle for the Southern Supremacy is heating up in the Southern states.
20:19To speak more on this, we have Anagar Keshav joining us.
20:22Anagar, what exactly is the version of the Tamil Nadu government on this development that we are seeing?
20:29Well, in fact, we saw an exchange that happened between ADMK's former minister, Tangamani,
20:37and the incumbent industries minister, TRB Raja.
20:41Tangamani actually on the floor of the house questioned TRB Raja,
20:44saying that despite the fact that Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, is a Tamilian,
20:49is a Tamilian, the Google $15 billion bumper investment went to Andhra Pradesh and not to Tamil Nadu.
20:56That's the kind of criticism that ADMK leveled on TRB Raja.
21:00They also added that the Tamil Nadu government did not take enough efforts to ensure that Google comes to Tamil Nadu,
21:08but instead they were laid back and let the Google investment go to Andhra Pradesh,
21:13is the kind of allegation that we saw ADMK's Tangamani make.
21:17TRB Raja defended, saying that it's false to say that Tamil Nadu did not make efforts.
21:22We did try pulling Google to Tamil Nadu, but I don't want to make any further comments about Andhra Pradesh being able to win Google,
21:30is what TRB Raja said.
21:31In fact, Mr. Raja also mentioned about the 15,000 crore investment that Foxconn has made in Tamil Nadu,
21:38by adding that while one branch of Foxconn might have said that there's no fresh investment here,
21:44the fact that Foxconn is coming to Tamil Nadu is very very real, it's very true.
21:49TRB Raja once again reassured and reiterated on the floor of the house,
21:53despite a controversy that's brewing over Foxconn investment,
21:56by saying that it's very real that Tamil Nadu has drawn in the 15,000 crore investment from Foxconn,
22:02and that 14,000 fresh jobs are going to get created in Tamil Nadu in the engineering space.
22:09So that's the kind of reiteration and reassurance that was given by TRB Raja,
22:13while really refusing to comment on Google going the way of Andhra Pradesh,
22:17and he also made one thing clear.
22:19He said that Tamil Nadu did make efforts to draw in Google to Tamil Nadu,
22:24but I don't want to talk about it further.
22:26That's the kind of statement that we saw from TRB Raja.
22:34Well, amid this ongoing war of words with high stakes on who would be the king,
22:40the king of production investment, let's go through this report.
22:56Amid Andhra Pradesh getting a historic Google tie-up for an AI hub,
23:01the focus is now on neighbouring South States dunes.
23:05The investment announcement has sparked another front in the Karnataka vs. Andhra fight.
23:12As Minister Nara Lokesh took another swipe at Bengaluru and Vizag, winning the big-ticket investment.
23:20The comment did not go down well with the Karnataka government, with DK Shivakumar hitting back.
23:25I don't want to react to Nara Lokesh or anyone.
23:33You can't match Karnataka, Bangalore.
23:37Let they do whatever they want, let the market, let they do whatever, let central government also help.
23:43But there is no match to Bangalore in this entire country.
23:50The investment has also sparked a fierce competition between both states.
23:54With Karnataka ministers now taunting Andhra too.
24:00Today, what they will not tell you, sir, is that the push that they are giving for to get investments.
24:07See, today Google AI has gone too, Vizag is the headline.
24:12What they will not tell you is that they are giving 22,000 crores incentives.
24:17What they will not tell you is that the land is being given at 25% discount.
24:21Water tariff is at 25% discount.
24:24Not surprisingly, considering Minister Nara Lokesh, too has repeatedly set his eyes on beating Bengaluru as the IT hub of the south.
24:32Mr. Naidu made it very clear.
24:36HAL is going to be in Karnataka. No second thoughts about it. We have not asked them to relocate.
24:42But if the local government is unable to give, any government is unable to take care of their investors,
24:47and when there is a state willing to, you know, give a handout and say, come, let's build the ecosystem together, what is wrong?
24:54You know, we are the traffic freestyle of Bengaluru airport.
24:58So we, that's where Kia ecosystem exists.
25:01Kia also, we fought with various other states and got it to Andhra Pradesh.
25:04I believe it's important that states learn to compete rather than crib about it.
25:09Meanwhile, what about Tamil Nadu?
25:11Well, in the investment fight, there is a political row in the state over a proposed Foxconn investment.
25:18The question, is it a corn investment or real?
25:22After Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin claimed Foxconn invested rupees 15,000 crore in the state,
25:29Foxconn reportedly denied this fresh investment, prompting a big attack from the opposition.
25:36Foxconn has refused the claim by the Tamil Nadu government. It is such a shame.
25:42M.K. Stalin and his minister should hang their head in shame for lying to the people of Tamil Nadu.
25:48The clarification given by Foxconn yesterday, clearly exposes the fact that there is a lot of
25:55discrepancy in terms of the fresh investments which are coming into Tamil Nadu.
25:59But the DMK was quick to hit back at the opposition.
26:04They don't want to accept anything good to Tamil Nadu. That is BJP. Along with them is their stooge,
26:12PMK and Bhumani. They say they don't want any good thing to happen to Tamil Nadu.
26:19Foxconn is already holding discussion with the state government, which means they are going to invest.
26:29So which of the southern states is thriving? Which is attracting the most investments?
26:36The fight for the title is on. Bureau Report, India Today.
26:49A big day for the state of Andhra Pradesh where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in the state for
26:54major investments. Not only this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Nandiyal's Sri Silem,
27:00the Sri Silem temple here, the Sri Brahmaramba Malikarjuna, a Swami temple here where Prime Minister
27:06Narendra Modi has offered prayers for an hour, offered darshan before the auspicious occasion of
27:13major developmental projects for the state of Andhra Pradesh worth more than 13,430 crores.
27:19Now, this is said to be a major boost to the state of Andhra Pradesh in the double-engine
27:23sarkar that we are seeing. Not only Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister
27:28Narachandra Babu Naidu, the Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had arrived at this temple early
27:33hours today and offered darshan with thousands of devotees. Devotees have gathered here,
27:39welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Chief Minister Narachandra Babu Naidu,
27:43Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan during their visit here. Before the auspicious occasion,
27:48Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers and from here he is left to the Chhatrapati
27:52Shivaji Kendra where he will pay tributes to Chhatrapati Shivaji and then he will leave to Karnool
27:59where several of the foundation stone inauguration and dedicating to the nation several projects
28:05worth more than 13,430 crores. Now, this is a vast, you know, project, a multi-departmental project
28:13for road, railways, renewable energy industries is set to give a boost to several, you know,
28:20departments here with also the IT corridors, etc. Now, this is big boost which will bring 21,000
28:27crores worth investments is what is being expected and unemployment to more than 1 lakh people in the
28:33state of Andhra Pradesh. This is said to be a big day, a big boost for the state of Andhra Pradesh where
28:38Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come in, offered prayers and now will inaugurate all these projects
28:44in a short while from now.
28:58High voltage drama had unfolded in the state of Telangana, especially in Hyderabad where
29:04Telangana's forest and endowments minister Kunder Surekha falls into a controversy. Now,
29:09this controversy erupted when allegations against an OSD officer, officer on special duty was,
29:16you know, alleged of extortion, extortion and a gunpoint. Now, here, the allegations are that
29:23Sumanth, the former OSD of Minister Kunder Surekha, in a meeting with the Chief Minister
29:29Revant Reddy's close eight, Rohin Reddy and the private company belonging to a constituency of
29:35Uttam Kumar Reddy, were in conversation when this incident has taken place, where allegations have
