00:00We came together, culminating in this conference for a just humane to national order
00:08and we wanted Kuala Lumpur to be witnessing the voices of not just the global south
00:14but also those from the global north guided through a moral compass.
00:20We want more people to be aware it is, Gaza is only the beginning.
00:25Once you see the destruction of the international world order, what is left?
00:30So we're here to defend, to champion and to fight for multilateralism.
00:35International law says genocide has been happening in Gaza.
00:39There has to be consequences for that.
00:42And so whilst there is at the moment a ceasefire, to me it's extremely unclear where the road goes forward on this
00:50and how the Palestinian people are expected to live, how they're expected to rebuild Gaza
00:57and what support they're going to get in doing that.
00:59And perhaps very importantly, who's going to pay for it all?
01:02I think it should be those that did the bombing, i.e. Israel,
01:06but also those that supplied the weapons that Israel had in order to bomb Gaza.
01:12So this is a moment of reckoning internationally, but I think it also shows that the, as Prime Minister Anwar pointed out this morning,
01:22the whole spirit of Bandung conferences all those years ago, and I quoted France-Fanagan as,
01:28that we're now into a new era when it is the southern countries of the world,
01:32led by Malaysia, Colombia, South Africa, that are asserting international law.
01:39It's the northern countries of the world that are flouting international law,
01:44particularly in relation to Gaza and Palestine.
01:48So I think Malaysia has shown incredible leadership in all this,
01:52and that is one of the reasons why we're having this conference here today.
01:57We welcome the ceasefire that President Trump is brokering now for Palestine,
02:03but this is a moment where we're even more, which is even more dangerous,
02:07where we're even more on the lookout to ensure that accountability is upheld,
02:12that we do not shift our eyes away and say the genocide is over and go back to business as usual,
02:17but ensure that our obligations to uphold justice in Palestine are upheld.
02:22We believe that in the Hague Group, there's a much larger message of collective global self-action,
02:26of developing countries from around the world acting together for international law,
02:30not just in geopolitics, but across our labour frameworks, across energy frameworks,
02:35and that's why meeting in this moment one week before ASEAN is an incredible opportunity for us
02:40to support Malaysia's leadership in building this large South-South alliance.
