00:00Prime Minister Dato' Sri Anwar Ibrahim and British MP Jeremy Corbyn are calling for justice and accountability in Gaza,
00:08warning that the current ceasefire is fragile and far from a real solution.
00:13Speaking at the Kuala Lumpur Conference on a Just and Humane International Order,
00:17Anwar said the ceasefire offers little security or dignity for Palestinians,
00:22stressing the need to rebuild Gaza and recognize their right to live freely on their land.
00:27Now, with the latest fragile ceasefire in place,
00:35we are monitoring by the minute,
00:38there is a glimpse, faint but real, of peace.
00:43There is no plan for comprehensive peace,
00:47no guarantee of return to the Palestinians,
00:53and no clear categorical statement
00:59to guarantee
01:02the formation of an independent state of Palestine.
01:11We welcome, of course, the initiative,
01:12even if it's by President Donald Trump,
01:15but we must be honest enough to state that
01:21we do not want
01:23and other pause
01:25between wars.
01:28We are dealing with Netanyahu and his cabinet.
01:31We made no pretensions.
01:33They are not going to honor that.
01:34So, the ceasefire, as far as we are concerned,
01:41must be a doorway
01:42to rebuilding Gaza,
01:44to restoring dignity,
01:46and to recognizing the Palestinian right
01:49to live freely
01:50in their own land.
01:53Anwar also joined delegates from across Asia,
01:56Africa, and Latin America
01:57in urging for a stronger South-South cooperation.
02:00The nations of the global South
02:02are rediscovering their voice.
02:06And this is something very reassuring.
02:10And it's supported by many young students,
02:15youth, and general public from the north.
02:18And again, I see these contradictions.
02:20You know, we were struggling
02:22and demonized or arrested
02:26under the International Security Act,
02:28no more, eh?
02:28We thought it just happening
02:30in this Asia, Africa, Latin America.
02:35But now,
02:36fortunately, Malaysia
02:37is much freer
02:39for students to demonstrate
02:42and say their peace
02:44than those in the UK
02:45and the United States.

02:49echoed Anwar's remarks
02:51saying the global South
02:52is going through a reawakening
02:54while more people in the West
02:55are pushing back against systems
02:57that no longer represent them.
02:59Prime Minister Anwar's call
03:02for a new order from the South
03:03speaks directly and powerfully
03:06to this reawakening.
03:09It's not a nostalgia for the past.
03:12It is a renewal of its promise
03:15to build a world
03:16where every nation,
03:17every person
03:18can live in dignity,
03:20free from domination.
03:22At the same time,
03:24and this is an interesting phenomenon,
03:26the same extraordinary thing
03:29is happening in the northern countries.
03:31People are rising against a system
03:33that does not represent them.
03:36In Italy,
03:37workers have gone on general strike
03:39for Palestine,
03:41refusing to be complicit in the genocide.
03:43In my own country,
03:45in Britain,
03:46hundreds of thousands
03:47have marched
03:48throughout London
03:48and every other city
03:50for peace week in,
03:51week out,
03:52despite verification
03:54from the last two governments.
03:57And now we have the absurdity
03:59of 1,500 people
04:01arrested on terrorism charges,
04:05many of them pensioners
04:06and people with disabilities,
04:08for simply holding signs up
04:10with seven words
04:11and they're saying,
04:12I oppose genocide,
04:13I support Palestine action.
