The Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) is intensifying efforts to elevate its status from a regional institution to a global leader and to promote Malaysia as a preferred hub for international arbitration.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said commended this aspiration at the opening of Asia Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Week 2025 in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday (Oct 9).

00:15I thought when I go up, you will play four seasons of Vivaldi, but unfortunately that's not happening.
00:21For the past year, it has been nothing but short of great, remarkable journey for AIAC.
00:31From the creation of new collaboration and formalising memorandums of understanding and launching innovative initiatives,
00:41AIAC has shown unwavering commitment to broadening access to justice and learning for all of us.
00:49When we began our institutional reform journey in February 2024 for AIAC,
00:56we knew that the transformation takes time and will change demands both vision and perseverance.
01:02Today, as we stand at this historic milestone, the launch of the AIAC suite of Rules for 2026,
01:11where the Deputy Prime Minister will launch,
01:12embodied visionary, objective, institutional, specialisation, experts inside,
01:18industry, best practices and global standards, that set the trajectory of our ADR journey.
01:25We are also leaping into the final stages of this ambitious project,
01:30one that will redefine the future of AIAC,
01:33the achievement that reflects the dedication, expertise and collaboration of many hands and minds.
01:41And with this establishment of the AIAC Court of Arbitration,
01:44we are settling a new benchmark,
01:47one that defines the Centre's standards, excellence, aspirations for Yusufa.
01:52Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
01:55one of the Madani's vision is very clear.
01:57With the Madani government, the values of the Madani interpreted via AIAC,
02:04which is to position AIAC not merely as a regional institution,
02:08but as a global leader and preferred arbitration part worldwide.
02:12With Malaysia's chairing of the ASEAN 2025 and with the support of ELCO,
02:17the Malaysian government, our judiciary and the international community,
02:22the time is right to cease this Kairos moment.
02:24We have only one opportunity,
02:28our generation defining the chances to shape a transformative institutional reform
02:33that will define AIAC's legacy for the decades to come.
