00:00I'm going to tell you, man, I watch, as usual,
00:02watch everything through a Texans' lens.
00:04And here's the picture that I want to paint, right?
00:06The Texans are at a fork in the road on this schedule.
00:10You're sitting at 2-3.
00:12You've got a chance to get 2-3-3 so you can get to 500.
00:15You come home with three straight home games, right?
00:20Here's the thing, Sean.
00:21If you get to 500 by beating Seattle in primetime on the road in Seattle,
00:29then I think you can come back home confidently
00:32versus the three opponents that you have at home, right?
00:37It's not a pushover schedule.
00:39There's some good opponents on that schedule here at home,
00:42but it is three home games where you come home and the thought is,
00:45hey, man, let's get this ship right, let's get above 500,
00:49and let's get rolling, right?
00:52Or you go up to Seattle, the environment, the primetime game,
00:58gets the best of you.
01:01Maybe the offense slides back down to more of what we thought it was
01:04the first three weeks of the season versus what we saw,
01:06and it scored 70 points in two weeks versus Tennessee and Baltimore.
01:09That fork is does your record – because here's the thing, Sean.
01:14I think the last two games, I think it's fair to say the product that is the
01:20Houston Texans – and look, we've talked a lot about the offense,
01:23but the whole thing.
01:23I think the football product is closer to the top of the league
01:26than it is the bottom of the league.
01:28When you go out there and you destroy two of the bottom feeders in this league
01:32the way you did, I think the product is closer to the top half of the league
01:36than it is the bottom half of the league.
01:38I would agree with that, yeah.
01:39But in reality, Sean, you know, nothing matters other than your record.
01:44Sure.
01:44You're sitting at two and three right now, and what's sitting between you
01:48and where you're at right now and being two and four and getting to 500
01:53and getting this thing right is a really good football team
01:56in the Seattle Seahawks.
01:58Yeah.
01:59And if you look at what the Chiefs did last night,
02:01the Chiefs were sitting at two and three.
02:02And look, I understand it's the Chiefs.
02:03I understand we're talking about the winningest franchise in the sport
02:07over the last several years.
02:09I bet the Texans are the Chiefs.
02:11I'm just saying that's the blueprint.
02:12They were sitting at two and three, and what they did –
02:14now they did it at home against the Detroit Lions,
02:16but they had a really good Detroit Lions team come in,
02:19albeit they were banged up on the defensive side of the football.
02:21I get it.
02:22But when I watched that game, I walked away from that game thinking
02:27on both sides of the ball the Chiefs are the better football team.
02:31And I'm not saying that they are.
02:32I'm saying in that particular instance, the product that they put out there
02:36against a really good NFC opponent was a product that you can go,
02:41yep, the Chiefs are going to get right.
02:42Yep, the Chiefs are still a contender.
02:44Yep, look out.
02:44The Chiefs could still get this thing and be real towards the end of the year
02:48and be a problem.
02:49Yeah, I told T-Mill this earlier.
02:51The thing that I've noticed about the Kansas City Chiefs in the last two weeks
02:55is I saw them come in last week against Jacksonville.
02:57I thought they looked more like the Chiefs in instances against the Jaguars
03:01than they had all season up to that point.
03:04Last night, fourth quarter, at home, when that thing is still a football game,
03:08they stepped on the Lions' throat.
03:10They were making plays, but they were keeping it second and manageable.
03:14So, when it's second and five, they're getting eight yards.
03:17You know, it's third and one, they're getting four yards.
03:19They kept that thing moving, and they did just enough when they were supposed
03:24to do it at home against a quality opponent.
03:26The thing is, the Texans, they've got to go to Seattle.
03:29They have to help with the record, to help with what they're doing.
03:32That's a tough place to play, period, no matter what kind of hole you've dug yourself in.
03:39And that's what I'm a little worried about in the fact that, boy, Seattle.
03:44Did you watch that game?
03:45Seattle and the Jags.
03:46Did they not turn up on the freaking offensive line?
03:50Yeah.
03:50It was a 33 pressures, seven sacks on Trevor Lawrence this weekend.
03:55Holy crap.
03:56That's what scares the hell out of me.
03:57They're a problem.
03:57The Seattle defense, they had a little bump in the road two weeks ago, and then they
04:01just turned it right back on this past week.
04:02The Seattle defense is a problem.
04:04Their offense is really good.
04:06I mean, look, the reality of it is, I think this is an opponent, I liken it to the Chiefs
04:11because I think Detroit's a good NFC team this year.
04:15There's still some, I mean, you look over the last several years, it's been great, but
04:17they've got new offense coordinator, new defensive coordinator.
04:20And, you know, who are the Chiefs?
04:22This is a game where you've got to rebound and get this thing right, and they did it.
04:26Right?
04:26No turnovers, no penalties.
04:28I think the Chiefs are legit contenders.
04:31I think they, right now, now they may not, they may, you know, down the road, they may
04:34turn out to be frauds.
04:35I don't know.
04:36But right now, I think you look at that product, you look at the record at three and three,
04:39it's early in the season.
04:40Okay.
04:41I think they're contenders.
04:42I think there's a lot to be decided in that particular division and how the playoffs
04:48and the AFC unfold.
04:50Yeah, I think Rishi Rice had back.
04:52That's right.
04:52Can the Texans do to next Monday what the Chiefs did last night with the Detroit Lions?
04:58Again, I think the Texans product, product wise, I think they're capable of being a top
05:02half of the league team.
05:05But the reality is the record is what counts.
05:07Can you get to three and three or do you backslide and get back, you know, go to two
05:12and four and you end up down there with teams?
05:16I mean, let's be honest.
05:16I mean, the way the division, the AFC, the way it unfolds right now, man, is there is
05:23a clear divide in the top, let's call it nine teams, in the bottom.
05:29Democrats, they ain't got a chance.
05:31No, they're way down there.
05:32They're bad.
05:33They are bad.
05:33And there's some one and two lost teams, but they are awful, man.
05:38And so, you know, do you keep your record wise, do you stay up there with Denver's and some
05:44of these other teams that are emerging like New England and kind of stay in that mix for
05:48the wild card?
05:51Yeah.
05:51Or do you start to slide back down with like the Cincinnati Bengals right now who are without
05:57Joe Burrow and they just look like they're plummeting?
05:59Like, who are you?
06:00And that is what's at stake, in my opinion, come Monday night for the Houston Texans.
06:06I think the Chiefs gave you the blueprint last night.
