00:00Good afternoon. The fight for the title in the Bennett's British Superbike Championship will once again go all the way to the final round of Brands Hatch in a fortnight after a wet and windy race worn here at Alton Park yesterday.
00:15Nesbitt on the Masterback Honda is on pole. These are the two fighting out for the championship. They've both gone for wet. Who will prevail? Risk over reward? We're about to find out. Lights out!
00:26A rocket start from Stacey. In fact, he'll surely get the whole shot into turn one. Bradley Ray got away well as well. He's up the inside into third. He didn't got a problem.
00:34Yeah, they have. They've gone on to drive. Those who have gambled on Inters may well succeed.
00:41Kyle Wright up the inside of Bradley Ray. Carving through the field. Here's Leon Haslam on the motor, Rapido, Ducati.
00:47Oh, look at Storpe. Got a lead. This side was going in. He did well to collect that. Leon Haslam threw on Fraser Rogers into his ease.
00:56To lead the race. That's not drops of rain. That is rain coming down. That's full on rain.
01:01Oh, this is rain. Can you believe it? That's proper rain. This is rain.
01:04Oh, twitching the rear end there for Leon. That's exactly what we expect.
01:08Rocket Ron can't watch anymore. And Kyle here, despite the conditions, having a look into the chicane.
01:15Josh Brooks here trying to find a way through. I'm going to go around the outside.
01:18Yeah.
01:19Most of the field went for wet, but these two on screen gambled on Inters and it has paid off.
01:25Now we're going to Britain. Here he's going to have a look.
01:27Oh, that was brilliant from the Australian.
01:31What a move from Brooks. Brooks has won again. Bad Boy's back. What a great race.
01:37He takes glory here ahead of Leon Haslam.
01:41Fortune favoured the brave here yesterday. A first victory since May 2023 for Josh Brooks.
01:53And that podium for Leon Haslam means that he holds a slim title chance going into today's two races.
01:58For Kyle Ride, a hugely valuable podium that extends his advantage over Brad Ray to 43 points.
02:04With 50 left on the table here and a bumper 105 to play for at Brands Hatch in a fortnight's time.
02:13So a pivotal day ahead of us here then in terms of the title chase, which kicked off, it's fair to say, I think, James Shakey from the start of the season.
02:20There's very much a story of the two rivals.
02:23Yeah, two rivals and two halves, really. It was the first half of the season.
02:27It just seemed to be all Brad. He absolutely smoked it. Ten race wins out of the first 12.
02:31And then the second part of the season, you know, he's stuttered a little bit.
02:35He's only had one win in the last 16, whereas Kyle's come to the fore.
02:40And he looks like he really is the man in control right now.
02:44He's been consistent. He's been consistently at the front as well, Shane.
02:48Not tearing up trees in terms of victories, but whatever the weather, whatever the track, he seems to be there, Kyle.
02:53He does. And, you know, I think we spoke about this on the show yesterday.
02:56For me, Kyle Ride really came of age in the championship battle last year.
03:00You know, that race that you had with Tommy Brivewell, I think it unlocked a new level of confidence in him.
03:05And, you know, to be fair, as James said, it was all Bradley at the beginning of the start of the season.
03:09You know, he won loads of races. Kyle was just kind of chipping away.
03:12But now it seems that, you know, he just simply isn't making mistakes.
03:16He's doing what he needs to do to be a champion.
03:18You know, you need to finish every race in the best position possible.
03:20And, you know, even when he can't win races, he's like second, third or fourth or whatever.
03:24And his points have tallied up. And now he has, like, you know, a pretty commanding lead in this championship going into these last two races today.
03:31And into Brands Hatch, indeed.
03:32He rode brilliantly yesterday. Two very experienced men in front of him on intermediate tyres, James.
03:38And we've now got Josh Brooks and Leon Haslam and Christian Hiddon alongside each other on the front row of the grid.
03:42Yeah, that's right. We've actually worked out it's the oldest front row we've ever had in BSB.
03:47124 years combined. Not that they might want to hear that, but that is what it is.
03:52But, yeah, they used all their experience. It was fantastic.
03:54The whole Dow Racing, you know, for Sommar, you know, to get their first win.
03:59Josh rode brilliantly. Brilliant move on the last lap, as we just saw going up the inside of Leon.
04:04You can see what it means there. They put in so much hard work and effort.
04:07So it was a great day for them and a very brave choice going out and into us anyway.
04:11And Leon does hold still a slim title chance, Shane.
04:15It's not much more than that at the moment, but he'd love to come away with a couple of wins today.
04:18Yeah, of course he would. And there's absolutely no reason why he wouldn't.
04:21I mean, he won a race here earlier in the year. He's been doing a great job.
04:25Really enjoying riding for that Moto Rapido Ducati.
04:29You know, they seem to have it dialled in pretty much all conditions.
04:32And, yeah, I'm sure he's going to be as hungry as he was yesterday.
04:36Interestingly for me, you know, the two of the most experienced guys, you know, made the best call on tyres.
04:40You know, pretty much the whole grid went on wet tyres.
04:42But, you know, the guys that won were on intermediates.
04:44It was a bold decision.
04:46You know, if anyone was going to make it, it would be Josh Brooks.
04:48But he made it, and Leon did too, and he won too.
04:50And there's another really big decision now because we've just had some rain.
04:54It wasn't meant to rain. It's damp. It's wet. It's quite cold. It's windy.
04:57We've got, you know, again, great clouds, a bit of sunshine.
05:00It's been declared a wet race.
05:01So it's going to be interesting to see who chooses what.
05:04OK, well, it's going to be another topsy-turvy day like it was yesterday with the weather across all of the classes.
05:12And we've got some real cracking races for you lined up.
05:15The sprint race for BSB is coming up in just a couple of minutes.
05:18We'll also have a title-deciding race, final race of the season for the British Talent Cup.
05:24It looks certain to be a title-decider as well in the super stocks.
05:27It's still pretty wide open in the super sports, though.
05:29We had a belting race in the sprint yesterday.
05:32The feature race is at 25 past three.
05:35The main feature race for BSB this afternoon is at 10 past four.
05:37That's race three, of course.
05:39And we'll have the Pirelli National Sport bikes as well to wrap us up at five o'clock.
05:43Right, let's get the latest then on these tyre choices and other choices that need to be made out on the grid with wit.
05:49Cheers, boys. Yeah, the weather's doing it again to us, isn't it?
05:53There's rain coming, then stopping underfoot.
05:56Now, it's kind of damp but not wet.
05:57I really hate having to do this, but I am going to have a little bit of a word with Brad Rafe.
06:03I can't just to quicken, Brad.
06:04Same again, it seems a little bit unfair that you've got to go through what you're going through in the championship
06:08and then it could all go wrong with a tyre choice.
06:11Yeah, that's it.
06:13Had it thrown at us this weekend, that's for sure, with the weather.
06:15But it's tricky now.
06:17The track's a little bit wetter than yesterday, but the wind's super strong.
06:20The sun's coming out now, so...
06:23Yeah, what do you do?
06:24But we're just going to have to try and make a choice.
06:26Sprint race, maybe be a bit safer, but I don't know.
06:31We've got to try and get through the pack as well and get some points.
06:33So, yeah, we'll see what happens in the next two minutes.
06:36Brad, best of luck, mate.
06:37Cheers, mate.
06:38Yeah, difficult one to make.
06:40It is a little bit easier.
06:40Alluded to the fact there that it's a 12-lap race,
06:43which is a little bit easy if you get caught on a drying track on wet weather or intermediate tyres.
06:48And, obviously, you don't have to make them last as long.
06:52Right, that was the fifth row that Brad was sat on.
06:55We're going to go forward to row three.
06:57This is your championship leader by 43 points.
07:03Now you've got a lead, sneaking away a little bit just when it matters.
07:06But, again, another difficult one to choose.
07:07Sun's out now, but you've never seen more than about 10 minutes away from a rain shower here today.
07:12Yeah, it's a bit of a nightmare for everyone, really.
07:14We've been set waiting until 12 o'clock to go out, and then it rained after four corners.
07:18So, not ideal, but, yeah, I think everyone's going to be a lot more choosing the wet tyre.
07:23It looks a lot worse than what it did in yesterday's sighting laps.
07:25And a shorter race.
07:26And a shorter race.
07:27So, I think anyone at the front will take the option of yesterday's, same as what I did.
07:32Yeah, going to be mental.
07:34Good luck, Carl.
07:35Cheers, mate.
07:36Right, front row time.
07:38And it is quite an old front row.
07:39I think James alluded to that.
07:41Right, right-hand side of the front row is Christian.
07:45Now, Christian messed up a little bit.
07:47It's not like him to drop the ball when it's anything, like, dodgy, iffy conditions and a tyre choice comes into it.
07:55You're just chatting with Nigel Snook now.
07:57Ian Presswood there.
07:58Just adjusting the rear suspension on this AJ and SteelStock's Kawasaki.
08:03Christian, you messed up yesterday.
08:04I don't mind telling you that because you're my mate and it's not like you not to be bold when it comes to tyre choice.
08:11Yeah, and we've just now changed our mind on this one as well.
08:15So, luckily, at least I haven't changed my mind on the grid rather than halfway around the formation.
08:21But there's still time for that.
08:22Yeah, I messed up yesterday.
08:23To be fair, actually, if it hadn't sprinkled mid-race, then maybe it would have worked out.
08:28Not for a win, but for a good result.
08:30But I've honestly got no idea where it was on the formation lap then.
08:34It was drizzling a bit.
08:35If it wasn't for that, then it would be a pretty easy decision.
08:38But it's definitely not.
08:39We'll see.
08:39Good luck.
08:40Thanks, mate.
08:40Right, one minute left.
08:41Quick word in the middle of the front row with Leon Aslam.
08:44Had a fantastic ride yesterday to second.
08:47Led it most of the way.
08:48A little bit unlucky yesterday.
08:49But what a ride and an inspired tie choice.
08:52Yeah, it's a little bit more dodgier today.
08:55I think it's a lot wetter than it was yesterday.
08:57But, yeah, it's a similar sort of thing.
08:58Drying track, wet start.
09:00But, yeah, I think it'll be a bit of a fun one.
09:02Good luck.
09:03Cheers.
09:03Right, and I have to get across to your pole sitter.
09:07This is a man who took his first win in a couple of years, I think.
09:12Josh Brooks.
09:13Honestly, you know I like you.
09:15And everybody does.
09:16What a great ride that was.
09:17We were flipping willing you on, lad.
09:18Yeah, it took a bit of risk to get there.
09:21Yeah, that's a good part of it.
09:22Yeah.
09:23You know, I don't have a championship to worry about.
09:25So, I could just go for everything on that one race.
09:28So, it was a brilliant experience.
09:30And, obviously, I've won many races before.
09:32But when it's been so long, it's pretty special.
09:35Good luck.
09:37Right, they'll see.
09:38You won't know what to choose.
09:39Definitely wetter than yesterday.
09:41Anybody's goal.
09:41Thanks, James.
09:4443 points in it then at the top of the standings.
09:47But there's no such thing as a comfortable position in the Bennett's British Superbike Championship.
09:52It's on a knife edge here once again at Alton Park.
09:54Welcome to the penultimate round of Bennett's British Superbikes for 2025.
10:07And wouldn't you just know it, with the rain falling, it's another roll of the dice here for Britain's finest racers.
10:13As they try and pick the best tyre for a 12-lap sprint race coming up.
10:19In terms of the championship, Kyle Ride leads Brad Ray by 43 points after yesterday's result.
10:25Leon Haslam, mathematically speaking, is still in it for now.
10:29Rory Skinner also mathematically in it.
10:31But, of course, he's not racing.
10:32So, after this race, he will be out of the equation.
10:35It's all to play for for third in the championship.
10:38In terms of the grid, it's probably one of the most upside-down grids you could possibly wish for.
10:45You heard from the boys earlier on.
10:47The oldest front row in BSP history with Brooks Haslam and Eden.
10:52Jackson Hickman and Cook on row two.
10:54The third row features Ride, Harrison and Bridewell with Rogers, Stacey and McConnell on row four.
11:00Brad Ray, a lot of work to do from 14th of the grid.
11:04Row five for him.
11:05Hedger Kerr and Todd follow him behind.
11:07Row seven is McLean, Vancey Calriss and Glenn Irwin with Baker Davis and Scott Redding starting from the back of the grid.
11:15And, as you can see, the riders said it, slightly worse conditions than yesterday.
11:19But, and, of course, a short distance.
11:22I can see Mr. Whittam here is already looking through the tyre sheet.
11:26Now, what we can tell you is the car ride has definitely gone full wet.
11:28Christian Hiddens has gone for an intermediate rear.
11:30What else do we know, James?
11:31We're not Brad Wells full wet.
11:33And I'm assuming most of the riders that go for a full wet setup will have the harder of the rear option wets.
11:40Brad Ray with the softer one didn't work too well.
11:42And if it dries out, then you've gone on a real gamble on the soft rear wet because it'll just destroy itself.
11:48But it is more of a gamble this morning or this afternoon, say, to go for the inter than it would have been yesterday.
11:53It seems a little bit wetter, but it seems a little bit brighter also.
11:58So, if we don't get any rain coming down now, it'll, it'll, it'll drive pretty quick.
12:02Here we go.
12:03We've got the sheet.
12:03Yeah, Harley's just dropped it off from Pirelli here.
12:06We're looking through the sheet.
12:07I might keep my eyes on this, James, and let you have a little play through some of these.
12:11I'm just trying to see, um, yeah, wet front and wet and an inter for Leon Haslam as well.
12:19There you can see Kyle Wright then, your championship leader.
12:21There is Leon Haslam with the intermediates on.
12:24Storm Stacey, I can see, has also gone for the intermediates.
12:28Look at that.
12:29That's further back on the grid.
12:31There's a few people gambling as well.
12:32This is going to be fascinating, folks.
12:34Five races to go in 2025.
12:36Brooks on pole.
12:38And it's lights out.
12:41Good start from Lee Jackson on that second row.
12:43Lee Bob on the Dow Honda.
12:44It could be a Dow Honda.
12:45One, two into turn one.
12:46It is brilliant stuff from Brooks.
12:49He leads.
12:50Kyle Wright got a really good start as well.
12:52He's just got his nose chopped off slightly.
12:53He's third.
12:53Yeah, Christian in, uh, made a good launch, but then he had to really be steady into Old Hall for turn one
12:58because he's on an intermediate rear.
13:01And we don't know what he's on in the front, but it wouldn't surprise me if Christian's gone for
13:04intermediate back in front.
13:05Very bold.
13:05And you can see already then at Cascades where the wind's been getting at it.
13:08It's pretty dry.
13:10Oh, it's aggressive early on already there from Kyle Wright.
13:14And that's wide from Josh Brooks a little through the island as well.
13:17So into Shell Oils.
13:18It's Brooks that leads.
13:19Yesterday's race winner, Brock.
13:20Kyle Wright.
13:21Brad Ray.
13:22So much work to do.
13:23My, and there he is just heading round now ahead of Glenn Irwin.
13:26Yeah, and whatever tire he's got on, he's going to go away from that drying line to the sort of damper line where everyone's on track.
13:32Look at that.
13:33And that top chicane is now pretty much right.
13:37Ryder's turning it in sharply there.
13:40I wonder what it would be like under the trees though in the final sector.
13:42Is Kyle Wright then leads.
13:44He attacks Josh Brooks.
13:45And the championship leader trying to defend the 43-point lead leads the field here.
13:51Yeah, I don't know why Josh Brooks was trying to defend that position.
13:54He tried to duke it out.
13:55Look at that.
13:56Really wet going up Clay Hill.
13:58This is coming out of Nicky Brook and up Clay Hill.
13:59Someone's through the gravel there at the top of the hill.
14:01I'm not sure who that was.
14:03Stayed on.
14:04Drying line.
14:04Going to the Druids.
14:05Kyle Wright has got wets on.
14:07He's probably gone out there and seen the conditions.
14:09He knows he's got to make hay while the sun shines.
14:11It's Dean Harrison who's gone straight on but rejoins.
14:14Yeah, I think Kyle Wright's probably at this point thinking to himself, these tyres probably
14:18aren't going to be optimum at the end.
14:20I need to get out front as Rodgers pushes through and into second place.
14:25The man who finished fourth yesterday.
14:26Yeah, Paul chasing for Fraser on the yellow bike in second on the Tac Honda.
14:30He had a really good ride.
14:31Loves these conditions.
14:32Loves any kind of chance to make a difference with a bolt tyre choice.
14:36He hasn't gone that bolt today.
14:38He's gone with the full weight.
14:39It'll be the hard rear weight, which will be exactly the same as the person who's just
14:42chasing Kyle Wright, I think.
14:45Over the line, Bradley Ray, 16th.
14:47No points for 16th.
14:48So a lot of work to do in the shortened distance race here.
14:51But at the moment, this would be a huge bite in terms of the championship for Kyle Wright,
14:56as things stand.
14:57Yeah, and we've said it before that Kyle Wright is Achilles heel.
15:00He's any kind of dodgy conditions, wet, dry, in between.
15:04But actually, it's only because he's been super safe.
15:07But I think if he has to push, I think he's quite capable of doing that.
15:10Scott Redding has had a great start.
15:12There he is, number four in the Hager PBM to Catty.
15:14He's made up 15 places now.
15:16I think he's up into ninth.
15:17It's his tenth on that screen.
15:18I think he's made up one more spot.
15:20So, brilliant.
15:22Through the chicane, he is into right place.
15:24Scott Redding from 24th on the grid.
15:27Yeah, good effort when you've got a runoff line to actually go forward.
15:31I wouldn't mind betting he's probably gabbled for intermediates himself, has he?
15:34Scott Redding, I'm just trying to look.
15:36No, he's gone for wets.
15:37He's gone for full wets on our sheet.
15:39Bradley Ray there just made up one spot.
15:41So, he's into the points now.
15:42He goes ahead of Cook.
15:43And we get the sheet through from Harley at Pirelli.
15:46But actually, he's not 100% accurate sometimes.
15:49Because when it's a close call and people are changing on the grid, then sometimes it is.
15:53Because Brad Ray is at the moment listed down as having the inter-rear.
15:56Will that come into its own?
15:57Yeah, well, you can see if that is the case.
16:00You can see that.
16:01Can we see anything from that?
16:04It's hard to say because that looks like a weapon here.
16:06Yeah, it's got a line around the middle, but so does the intermediate.
16:10You can't really tell at that speed.
16:12Another place made up for Scott Redding.
16:13He goes into eighth now.
16:15Brilliant ride here from the Hager TBM man.
16:17Yeah, and Christian Hedden, who knows how to ride these conditions, went for the intermediates.
16:21And he is struggling.
16:22So, you can assume that at the minute, at least, that wets are the...
16:28Oh, we've got a faller.
16:29Oh, it's Billy McConnell.
16:30Yeah, it is.
16:31McConnell had just gone up into fifth place as well.
16:33A good ride from Billy yesterday.
16:35He was in eighth.
16:36Down at Old Hall.
16:37Yeah, you know when the camera's moving around trying to find something.
16:40That we're looking for something's apt.
16:41We're fishing for a faller.
16:42Yeah.
16:43Kyle Ride leads from Fraser Rogers.
16:46It's Josh Brooks in third.
16:47Then Jackson, Bridewell fifth.
16:49Stacey then has moved up into sixth place now.
16:53Then Reading.
16:53Richard Kerr as well inside the top ten.
16:55A really good start on the grid rocket at BMW from him.
16:59Iden Hedger all inside that top ten.
17:03Then Haslam, who we know went for an inter-rear.
17:06He's waiting for the race to come to him a bit.
17:08Bradley Ray in the point, but only 15th for now.
17:12We're just being told it's raining now at the top of Clay Hill.
17:15Yeah, it's a little bit darker here.
17:16And you can see a little bit of rainfall in here, actually, Spot.
17:19So...
17:19Oh, yeah, we've got...
17:21Oh, Hickman.
17:22And that might...
17:23We may well see a red here.
17:25We may well see a red.
17:26Hickman's bike has said no more.
17:29Other people are going straight on.
17:30Sometimes when you see as much smoke as that, you know something fairly majors after that engine.
17:33You assume that that bike is dropping oil, so you'll take the safer option to go straight on.
17:38Yeah, and the marshals are trying to check quite quickly here to feed back the information to Stuart Higgs.
17:44Meanwhile, as things stand, Kyle Ride is blasting away out front with Fraser Rogers.
17:49And then there's a massive gap.
17:50Yeah, we've got a red flag.
17:52That was bound to happen.
17:53Yeah, which means we've got oil on the track.
17:55There's no more kind of, what's the word, peasants of mine rider and safe rider than Peter Hickman.
18:00There he is.
18:01He's been racing a long time.
18:02Very safe.
18:03Generally takes the right decision.
18:04And he got off the track as quick as he could.
18:07But when the engine blows like that, it's unbelievably high pressure in the engine.
18:11It'll squirt everywhere.
18:14So unfortunately, yeah, we've obviously put down a lot of oil.
18:17Super disappointed for not only ourselves, but of course all the rest of the guys and girls here.
18:21And yeah, we've delayed a lot of the day today, which is really, really unfortunate.
18:25But just a small bracket.
18:27No one's fault.
18:27It's just the way it is sometimes.
18:29Been a difficult season for you so far.
18:31Injuries and whatever else.
18:32Are you all fully fit now, ready for the last couple of rounds of the season?
18:35I think that's an understatement, isn't it?
18:36A difficult season from having to build the team right at the start of the year.
18:40And well, middle of February, actually, when we actually had to start the team, which was not on the cards at all.
18:45Yeah, through injury and stuff, I'm not 100% by any means.
18:48I'm probably only about 80% fit, but I can actually ride a bike.
18:51So it's not all bad, is it?
18:52Well, we wish you the best of luck getting back on that bike and see you at Ranshatch.
18:55Thanks, mate.
18:55Cheers.
18:56Yeah, thanks, Shaky.
18:57Thanks to Peter Hickman there.
18:58As he said, nobody's fault, but most importantly, nobody hurt.
19:02These guys are about to get ready.
19:03Now it's time to focus again on what is in front of us.
19:06It's the championship on the line.
19:09Two races coming up today.
19:1043 points between Kyle Ride and Bradley Ray.
19:13And I suppose, James, it's the same for everyone.
19:15They've all had to wait around.
19:17But it's even more tense, isn't it, when you are in this position fighting for a championship?
19:20Yeah, completely.
19:21Definitely just adds to the pressure.
19:24Like I've said before, though, at least the weather looks a little bit more settled and
19:28the tyre choice is going to be relatively easy now.
19:31So that's one kind of thing to get nervous about off the plate now.
19:34We go to Alton Park regularly, twice a year in British Superbikes.
19:38But as we mentioned, these guys have not done a fast lap in anger around Alton Park this
19:42weekend in the dry.
19:43So what do you do in terms of set up?
19:45Do you look back to where you were at here in May?
19:47Exactly what you do.
19:48Yeah, you go to what you know.
19:50The more day you've got, the better decision you can actually make.
19:54They've been here on these tyres in these conditions before.
19:57So maybe not with exactly the same track temperature, etc.
20:01But they're just going to have to put on the best of what they know.
20:05And everybody's going to have to do the same.
20:07Interestingly, on that day, the opening round of the season, Bradley Ray and Leon Haslam
20:12shared the victories.
20:13Kyle Ride wasn't on the podium, but this is a very different stage of the championship.
20:18And there is work to do for Brad Ray as well, regardless of the fact that it looks like
20:22it's going to be a dry eight-lap sprint.
20:24He's going from row five.
20:26It's an important first few laps and certainly first few corners for Brad.
20:31Yeah, in actual fact, it's better conditions for Brad to make his way forward.
20:35In the first part of this race, he didn't make a good start and he had to run off the
20:41dry air part of the track to make any passes, which was going to be difficult.
20:44And he wasn't going forward when the race was stopped.
20:46So this is definitely a second bite of the cherry for Brad and an important one.
20:50Steve Rogers, team boss for Raceway Yamaha, Brad's dad, just to the right there, Kev, who does
20:56his pit board as well.
20:58He's going to be busy over the next eight laps, that's for sure.
21:00He's going to be nervous.
21:01Yeah, very nervous.
21:03Kyle Ride has a 43-point lead to defence.
21:06Before that red flag came out, he did a tremendous job with his wet tyres.
21:11He's there now on the Nitrous Competition Yamaha.
21:13Remember, two warm-up laps coming up here for Bennett's BSB.
21:17Oh, someone's got a little problem down there.
21:20They've got their arm up in the air.
21:21I don't know who that was actually.
21:23Was that Scott?
21:23I don't know.
21:24Couldn't quite work out who that was.
21:27Let's have a look at the track as they go around.
21:30It looks all dry there.
21:32Turn one in Cascades.
21:34Here are the championship standards coming into this one.
21:3643 split, Ride and Ray.
21:38Leon Haslam, mathematically speaking, still in it at this moment in time.
21:42109 points down.
21:43Roy Skinner, of course, absent.
21:45Concussed earlier in the weekend.
21:47He'll be back for Browns, hopefully.
21:48Big battle on for third in the championship.
21:50Tommy Brightfield, Christian Hiddin, Danny Kent, Scott Redding, and Max Cook all included in that.
21:55This is how they line up on the grid there.
21:57Topsy-turvy, to say the least.
21:58Brooks, Haslam and Hiddin.
21:59The oldest front row we've ever had.
22:02Jackson Hickman-Cook on row two.
22:04The championship leader, defending the 43-point lead, heads row three.
22:08And then you have to wait to row five.
22:1014th on the grid for Bradley Ray.
22:13And at the very back of the grid, coming through.
22:15And he did a sterling job of it earlier on.
22:17Scott Redding, Glenn Irwin, also there in the mix.
22:21A multi-race winner in the last few years here at Alton Park.
22:25Top one to call this, James.
22:25Yes, it is.
22:27Mainly because they need dry track time.
22:31Track looks really quite dry on what we're looking at now.
22:34Everybody on full slicks.
22:35If there is going to be any damp patches, it'll be in the section they can look to now.
22:39This is Druid.
22:40Fuel leaves down there, but not too bad.
22:42The wind is dropping off, but under the trees, sometimes you get the damp patches lingering a little bit longer.
22:48Eight different riders on the grid have won races here at Alton Park in BSB.
22:53We've got six BSB champions on the grid as well.
22:57Eight laps.
22:58And at the moment, I mean, we shouldn't predict the weather because it's incredibly unpredictable at the moment.
23:03It looks like we might get eight dry laps in.
23:07Yeah, I think we're going to get that in actual fact, quite bright outside.
23:10As I said, the wind is dropping off a little bit.
23:12And because the wind had dropped off a little bit, like Christian Hiddin was saying to shake on the grid,
23:18it's been drying really quick all weekend every time the rain stopped.
23:21And it's actually not drying as quick now because the wind's dropped off a little bit.
23:25But it looks right to me now.
23:26It's quite chilly, though.
23:27You just saw there, 13 and a half degrees, air temperature, 14 and a half degree track temperature.
23:31Yeah, that's quite low.
23:33They're all on the same tyres, no rear tyres.
23:35They've got a choice of front tyres, one of two.
23:38Everybody on the same rear tyres.
23:39So, no kind of bad choice to be made there, as it were.
23:43So, these are the fastest laps in the drive that any of these guys have done so far
23:46as we get ready for an eight-lap sprint.
23:50Dave Williams keeping his eyes on proceedings as well
23:54as his man looks to defend a 43-point lead.
23:56How does he go in this race?
23:57Does Kyle look to just consolidate?
24:00All he needs to really do is stay in front of Brad.
24:03Oh, just follow him home.
24:05Yeah, really.
24:06Yeah, with a 43-point lead.
24:07And still, although the points have wrapped up, 25 points for a win here,
24:12but still 22 for second, 20 for third.
24:15So, the gaps between the positions are still fairly small.
24:19And remember, Brad Ray here has so much work to do from that fifth row.
24:23He needs a squeaky clean start.
24:25That's not easy to do.
24:26And you're mired mid-pack into Old Hall and then dropping down into Cascades.
24:30Especially with a little bit of pressure.
24:32He's caught with it really well, Brad.
24:33But you're going to feel it, for sure.
24:36But into Lodge Corner then, this final turn.
24:41And then they'll line up on the grid then for an eight-lap sprint.
24:44There's five races to go in the championship.
24:47One more later on this afternoon.
24:49And then we head to the finale at Brandt's Hatch,
24:52where there's 35 points available per race.
24:55How will this championship look by then?
24:58It's good of the fans to have stuck around here after a lengthy delay.
25:02But now we're finally good to go racing.
25:04Yesterday's race winner, Josh Brooks, lines up on pole.
25:07Bad Boy is back.
25:08And Dow Racing have their first win.
25:10There is your championship leader.
25:11And the green flag is waving,
25:13which means we are finally here at Alton on Sunday,
25:16ready to go racing.
25:20Lights out.
25:21Good start there from Brooks on pole.
25:24Not so much for Leon Haslam, number 91.
25:27He didn't know aggressive.
25:28And he takes the lead into turn one.
25:30Kyle Ryde, defending champion,
25:31goes through turn one in fifth spot.
25:34Brad Ray, fine through there.
25:36He's made up a couple of places.
25:38So keep our eyes on him.
25:39Yeah, he's got to be really careful.
25:41There's people around him, but he's not used to racing with.
25:43So, I mean, just where he is, you've got to be careful.
25:47You're not just sure what's going to happen early on.
25:49It's Christian Hiddin on the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki,
25:52who leads a race winner in Assen a couple of weeks ago.
25:55Then the two Dow Racing Hondas of Josh Brooks and Lee Jackson.
25:59Haslam fourth.
26:00Stacey's moved up ahead now of Kyle Ryde on circuit as well.
26:04This is the section that has been treated.
26:07The riders all making their way through there neatly.
26:09Looks really good to me.
26:10They've done a good job.
26:12Yeah, done a really good job.
26:13They've got all the tools,
26:13but still, that takes a little bit of time and a lot of work.
26:16This has been a good opening lap for Brad Ray.
26:18He's made up quite a bit of time
26:19and he's making another move there on Dean Harrison.
26:22Can he get the bike stopped down into the chicane?
26:23Yes, he can.
26:24So he's up behind Billy McConnell now.
26:27He's getting his teeth stuck into this one.
26:30So Ray now has to try and fiddle his way through on McConnell and Cook.
26:38Back through towards Druids now.
26:41There is Kyle Ryde.
26:42Yeah, it's struggling a bit.
26:43Storm Stacey in front of him now.
26:44Yeah, Storm got through a little earlier in the lap
26:46and Max Cook is there.
26:48Look, Brad Ray, in fact,
26:49is going to be right up alongside Kyle Ryde shortly.
26:52Yeah.
26:52He's going the long way round on Billy McConnell.
26:55That was brave.
26:56What a great move from Bradley Ray.
26:58Yeah, that was brave.
26:59He's not messing around here on the opening lap.
27:01Over the line we go then.
27:03It's Eden that leads from Brooks and Haslam
27:04and Brad Ray is eighth from 14th on the grid.
27:07Yeah, Kyle Ryde up the inside of Storm Stacey back into fifth, I think.
27:12This is typical from Kyle.
27:14He's taking his time just to get going,
27:16keeping out of trouble.
27:17Have a look at this move again then from Brad Ray.
27:19Yeah, Brad Ray is down there outside.
27:20No way up the inside look
27:22and that drops it across the front.
27:24That's really confident
27:26because if he wasn't all the way past
27:28and he was only six inches past,
27:30you don't really want to be touching somebody's front wheel.
27:31Oh, he's up the inside of Max Cook in Twilight Bend as well
27:35through Shell Oil.
27:36Another place made up for Ray.
27:38He's up to seventh.
27:39It's Eden though that leads.
27:40Yeah, he can definitely see his championship driver
27:41in front of him now.
27:42Come Brad Ray.
27:46Through British UK.
27:48This is where he's going to try and get the drive now, Brad Ray.
27:51That BMW is quick though.
27:52I've got to say it's so quick.
27:54Regularly, that is the quickest bike on track
27:56when you see the speed trap times.
27:58Kyle Ryde is weighing up a move.
28:00Ooh, that's very wide.
28:03All right, can he find a way through here on Storm Stacey?
28:06Yeah, when you're going to pass the fast bike,
28:08you're going to set that up.
28:09So that'll be done probably.
28:11I think he'll try and get a drop back,
28:13get a good run out of Druids
28:14and maybe try and get up the inside into Lodge.
28:17He went up the inside into Druids
28:18and that would have been risky.
28:21This is where he needs to try and make the move now.
28:22He'll pull over to the right-hand side of Storm Stacey.
28:25I don't know if he just quite got the drive,
28:27but he's going for it anyway.
28:28He's got to get the bike stopped though.
28:29He's trying to squeeze through.
28:31Storm closes him down, closes the door.
28:34So he's got to do it again now into the first time.
28:35Yeah, but this is what I mean.
28:36He's got a champion to think of, not just a pass.
28:39You know, he's got to stay out of trouble.
28:40He couldn't afford to get hit then by Storm Stacey,
28:43who, let's be honest, has very little to lose.
28:45Nothing to lose at all.
28:46Out front, two riders stretching away.
28:49Iden and Haslam, a bit of a gap now.
28:51Back to Jackson, who's got through on his team-mate.
28:54There is Kyle Ride and Storm Stacey almost alongside each other.
28:58Leon Haslam now challenging Christian Iden
29:00and goes through on the motor.
29:01Rapinoe Ducati to lead.
29:03Yeah, pretty much on the power of that Ducati.
29:06You would expect that to have a little bit of speed
29:08on the Kawasaki down along towards Island Bend.
29:12Don't forget, of course, Leon Haslam.
29:14A good day at the office here at Alton Park,
29:16and he will go to Pratt's hatch with an outside shot.
29:18Yeah, that's right.
29:20It's an outside shot, isn't it?
29:22It is.
29:22It's, in fact, a miracle required, really,
29:26but you never know.
29:27Well, he won a championship.
29:28Sorry, he lost a championship from 33 points in front,
29:31and indeed more than that,
29:32to win a championship from further behind.
29:35Car Ride's gone through on Josh Brooks,
29:37who's just fading a bit in the early stages
29:38on the Dow Racing Honda for 25 there.
29:41Storm Stacey looking to get in on the action at Knickerbrook.
29:46Clay Hill, and into Drewitt.
29:50Problem Brad Ray has got is he doesn't just need to beat Kyle Ride,
29:55he needs to beat him and have as many other people as he can in between.
30:02Yeah, and he's struggling to find his way through,
30:04and Max Cook now is charging on Brad Ray,
30:07and that's the place lost then for Brad.
30:09He's got his eyes on Storm Stacey.
30:11Yeah, and this is the thing,
30:12you don't get any slack given by anybody else.
30:16You can't settle in BSB at any of them.
30:17Not when you're back there.
30:19No, and worse news still for him
30:21is that now right up behind him is Tommy Bridewell,
30:24who, as we know, has got some form here at Alton Park.
30:27Damn the hell, Storm Stacey, that's an interesting line.
30:30The outside line at Cascades rarely works,
30:32and it didn't there.
30:33So it's Haslam and Iden that lead.
30:37They're two seconds clear of this big group.
30:40That's nice from Ray up the inside of Cook into Island Bend.
30:44One of the fastest corners on the circuit.
30:46Now into Shell Oils.
30:47Can he now find a way through on Storm Stacey?
30:53Well, right, defending champion at present in fourth.
30:56He'll be content with that
30:57because he can't see the number 28 up ahead of him.
31:03Stacey, so much power from that BMW.
31:06That's the thing.
31:06I think he's going to have a go at Josh Brooks now.
31:09And through he goes.
31:10Yep.
31:11And that was pretty much on power.
31:12And that's the problem that Brad Ray's got.
31:17It's got a protect there for Brad.
31:18Yep.
31:24Now, the Honda hasn't got the speed of the BMW,
31:27so there is an opportunity here for Brad Ray,
31:28and he goes through into Druids.
31:31And that's as clean as you're going to get at Druids, is that?
31:34Now he's got Storm to deal with once more.
31:36Out front, Haslam and Iden heading into the final turn.
31:39Then it's Jackson, Wright, Stacey and Ray.
31:42Meanwhile, laps are clicking off.
31:47Yes, it's only an eight-lap race, remember.
31:52Into Old Hall corner now.
31:55Can Brad find a way through on Storm Stacey,
31:58who's making himself incredibly difficult to pass?
32:01Yeah, and I think Kyle Ray's got to worry about Storm Stacey here.
32:05Again, that wide-footing line.
32:06Oh, yeah, too wide from Storm Stacey.
32:08Yeah.
32:09And just popping through the gap there is Bradley Ray,
32:11who's now up behind his championship rival, Kyle Ryde.
32:15Around Island Bend, is he going to have a look into Shell Oils
32:18and try and pounce early on?
32:19Ryde himself is thinking about a move.
32:21Ooh, not quite.
32:24This is now the fight for third place then.
32:26Brad Ray simply has to outscore Kyle Ryde in this race.
32:29Yeah, the pit crews need to be getting split times from the garries.
32:35They've all got TV screens up there and monitors to tell them exactly at the timing point who's in front of who.
32:40And they've been now preparing the signal boards.
32:43Oh, Kyle Ryde.
32:44Brad wanted to go through on Kyle there, and Kyle was going through on Lee.
32:48Brad's managed to make up another space anyway.
32:50He's going to pick the pocket of Kyle Ryde.
32:52Kyle didn't see it coming, but he'll know exactly who it is.
32:55This has been a great ride from Brad Ray from 14th on the grid.
32:58Yes, but required.
33:00He's definitely required, but the best we've seen him in quite some time.
33:04Storm Stacey's just been beaten up on this lap.
33:06He's been punched back to sixth.
33:11Haslam leads from Eden.
33:12Brad Ray then in third.
33:14Kyle Ryde.
33:15He won't mind this too much.
33:16He could just follow Brad home.
33:18It's damage limitation.
33:20Yes, it is.
33:22We start lap six of eight.
33:26All the pit boards there on the start-finish straight,
33:28giving the riders the information they need.
33:31There's a big group of riders here
33:33fighting for those top three or four positions.
33:3534.991 for Brad Ray.
33:37The fastest lap of the race.
33:39Yeah, but with two and a half laps to go,
33:42Brad Ray's probably not going to pick up any more positions
33:45and therefore points.
33:47So Kyle will know that.
33:49Yeah, the only way that's going to happen
33:50is if Haslam and Eden perhaps engage in a big battle
33:53in the closing laps, but it does seem unlikely.
33:55Nevertheless, from 14th on the grid to third,
33:58he's showing that he's got some real fight here.
34:02Red Mist certainly came in for Brad
34:05just before the start of the race
34:07as they go through Britons.
34:10Did gain three tenths on the leading duo
34:13through Sector 1.
34:14He's going here.
34:14There is a chance.
34:15He's gone purple Sector there.
34:17He's just taken a half a second.
34:18He might be a chance.
34:19Yeah, I agree.
34:20Yeah.
34:21He's leaving it all out there, Brad Ray.
34:23This is brilliant.
34:25The two men fighting for this year's championship.
34:30Brad Ray, who started the 2025 season off
34:33with ten wins in the opening 12 races.
34:35He's only had one since in the 16 races that followed.
34:38But this is probably the best of Brad
34:40that we've seen in the last couple of months.
34:42Meanwhile, out front, it's still Haslam.
34:47I'll tell you what, he's pulled a second back on this lap.
34:49It's been an incredible lap.
34:50It will be another fastest lap of the race.
34:52Of that, there is no doubt.
34:54Probably mid to late.
34:551.34 is here coming for Brad Ray.
34:57Over the line we go.
34:58Haslam, Iden, Brad Ray.
35:00A 34.198.
35:03That's more than a second.
35:041.1 seconds is taken as Brad Ray out.
35:07You're leading to Haslam and Iden.
35:10Is there enough time?
35:11We're on the penultimate lap of the race here.
35:14Kyle Ryde at the moment,
35:15happy just to watch what's happening in front of him.
35:17He won't be happy if Ray wins the race
35:19and he stays in fourth.
35:20But there's still quite a bit of work here to do.
35:22That's 1.6 seconds that he's got to find.
35:26Again, though, he was a few tenths quicker
35:27on that first sector.
35:28Put in two laps and he took a second,
35:30more than a second in one lap.
35:33And this has been another good sector for Brad.
35:37That's below a second now.
35:40Yeah, look, as we go into...
35:42That's below a second.
35:42That's unbelievable.
35:4422.9 through sector one for Brad Ray.
35:47He's about to flash up on sector two.
35:49And it's another purple sector.
35:50He was seven tenths quicker
35:51than the leading duo in that one
35:53and now he's right with them.
35:54I am going to go on Olivia
35:56and see he could actually win this.
35:58He could actually win this
35:59if he doesn't muck about with the passes
36:01when he gets them,
36:02depending where he gets to them.
36:03Christian Iden, I think,
36:05in terms of the speed of the Kawasaki,
36:07he might have the rhythm here to go through.
36:09Yeah, he's definitely got the chance
36:11because we're about to start the final lap
36:12and he is right with them.
36:13By the time we get to Lodge,
36:15he'll be on their tail.
36:16We've got a bit of traffic coming up ahead as well.
36:18That could play a part.
36:19Yeah, Richard, I think.
36:20So, into Lodge corner,
36:2491 on the motor-rapido Ducati Leon Haslam leads
36:27from Christian Iden.
36:29But Brad Ray is coming like a steam train
36:32and he needs this so badly.
36:34These could be crucial points.
36:35Another fancy slap.
36:36Into turn one,
36:37a 34 flat now for Bradley Ray.
36:391.2 seconds quicker than doing through.
36:41This is going to be...
36:42He's going to have a goal when it gets to him.
36:44But Christian Iden also senses
36:45that he might be able to win this race.
36:47He's trying to go through as well.
36:48Look at this lovely sweeping line
36:50from Brad Ray through Cascade.
36:51He's lining up a move here,
36:52potentially into Ireland.
36:53He's going to go.
36:54On Christian Iden.
36:54Is he going to up the inside?
36:56Yes, he is.
36:56Yes, he is.
36:57Brad Ray is coming through here.
36:59This is one of the rides of the year.
37:01He could win this.
37:02Now into Shell Oils.
37:03Still a few bike legs between him
37:05and Leon Haslam,
37:06but Leon won't know he's coming.
37:08Traffic up ahead hopefully will move.
37:10The blue flag being waved.
37:12This is incredible from Brad.
37:14Well, that's Richard Kerr just going through.
37:16Yes, he'll have seen the blue flag.
37:17I'm certain of that.
37:20Ray then out of the chicane,
37:22over the hilltop,
37:23just trying to keep that front wheel off the floor.
37:26He's not going to go here.
37:27Now that he just has a speed down the street,
37:29he's going to get...
37:30Well, will he pop through at Nickerbrook?
37:32He's going to try and go here.
37:33Yes, he does.
37:34Into the right-hander.
37:36Fantastic for Brad Ray.
37:38And now he's just got a few corners remaining
37:39to pull off what is
37:41one of the rides of the season.
37:43From 14th on the grid.
37:45Yep.
37:45He had to deliver here today.
37:48He's got trouble now.
37:49Alton's going to have the speed down the street.
37:50He's going to get him down at a lodge.
37:51He'll have a go.
37:52Is he going to be close enough?
37:53I don't think he is.
37:54Does he block him off?
37:55Leon Haslam will surely go for it.
37:57No, he's not close enough.
37:58The checkered flag is out.
37:59Brad Ray,
38:01take a bow.
38:02This championship closes up once more.
38:05One of the rides of the season.
38:07Ray wins for Raceway's Yamaha.
38:09Ah, incredible.
38:12Incredible.
38:14Unbelievable.
38:15Leon Haslam takes second.
38:16Eden third.
38:17Kyle Ryde fourth.
38:19Who, of course,
38:19will still have a healthy advantage
38:21in the championship.
38:22But I've got to be honest,
38:24that has taken my breath away a bit.
38:25That was amazing.
38:27Brilliant race.
38:28Brilliant ride.
38:29In eight laps, James.
38:30He has all he had.
38:31Yep.
38:32He timed it to perfection.
38:34Not that you can actually plan that.
38:35That was just him.
38:36He was 2.4 seconds away from those guys.
38:41It, well.
38:44This championship.
38:48They can't believe it.
38:49I know, I'll tell you what.
38:50It's worth the wait.
38:52It was worth the wait.
38:53Yeah.
38:54Stuart,
38:54you've got the scriptwriters in again upstairs.
38:56Oh, my word.
39:01This blows my mind.
39:02This British Superbike Championship.
39:04Look at these moves.
39:05Yeah, the beauty of this was
39:06he knew he had one chance.
39:07If it had wasted any time
39:09getting past Christian,
39:10which was going to be the easier job
39:12because the Kawasaki
39:13isn't as quick as the Ducati,
39:15then if he'd have wasted time
39:16getting past Christian,
39:17there's no chance he'd have had to go.
39:19I think he had to go there.
39:21He had to make the move there
39:22because he wouldn't have been closing up
39:23going down here at Lodge.
39:25What a well-worked-out,
39:26brilliant ride.
39:28This is, of course,
39:29after none of them
39:30had any dry track time at all.
39:34Steve Rogers is thinking,
39:35why do I put myself
39:36on this every weekend?
39:38To be quite honest, James,
39:39I'm sometimes sitting here
39:39thinking, why do we put this?
39:40Exactly the same.
39:41God.
39:42Leon Haslam,
39:43poor Leon,
39:44has been robbed of another win.
39:45Do you know what?
39:46I thought,
39:46another one goes on the last lap.
39:51Oh, dearie me.
39:53Right.
39:53That's seven points
39:54that he's taken,
39:55so Kyle's still in charge
39:57at the championship.
39:58Let's not get too carried away.
39:59But that's a good ride for him.
40:00He couldn't have wanted
40:01much more than that.
40:02Brilliant.
40:05Another podium for Christian Eden
40:06as well.
40:07Yep.
40:07In what is turning out to be
40:09a fantastic season.
40:10Brilliant season
40:11and what they've got,
40:12I think you couldn't get anybody
40:13to do a better job
40:14than Christian's been doing
40:15on that cow sack this year.
40:16I don't think even
40:18Mark Woodidge
40:18can believe that.
40:19No,
40:19you can tell.
40:21Yeah.
40:22You're not going to get a rider
40:23putting more effort in than that.
40:25And the thing is,
40:25even though it's only seven points,
40:27the confidence in the boost,
40:28that's going to get Brad now.
40:29Yeah.
40:31Yeah,
40:31mentally,
40:32that's going to have a power
40:33of what I'm saying.
40:33For Kyle,
40:34it's still job done.
40:35I mean,
40:36as far as he's concerned,
40:37if he follows Brad home
40:38like that every race,
40:39then he's still one of the championships.
40:40Does it?
40:40Yeah,
40:40yeah.
40:40Right,
40:41let's get results and standings in.
40:43What a race that was
40:45here at Alton Park.
40:47Worth the wait.
40:47Ray wins it.
40:48I don't know how.
40:49From Leon Haslam
40:50and Christian Hiddin.
40:51Kyle Ride fourth
40:51ahead of Stacey Bridewell,
40:53Nesbitt,
40:53Brooks,
40:54Cook and McConnell.
40:55That's your top 10.
41:00Points for Scott Redding there.
41:02He's 11th in the championship
41:03ahead of Glenn Irwin.
41:04Sorry,
41:05this is the result.
41:06Redding scores points
41:07in 11th ahead of Glenn Irwin,
41:08Fraser Rogers,
41:09Davey Todd
41:09and Dean Harrison.
41:10And now let's look
41:11at the standings then
41:12after that win
41:13for Bradley Ray.
41:14There's 36 in it
41:15going into
41:17this afternoon's final race.
41:18Leon Haslam
41:19still just about holding on
41:20in terms of being in it
41:21mathematically.
41:22He's third
41:23in the standings
41:24ahead of Skinner,
41:24Bridewell and Iden.
41:29Brooks into the top 10
41:30after his win yesterday.
41:31Stacey,
41:32a good result there
41:33in the dry.
41:33He's 11th ahead
41:34of Charlie Nesbitt.
41:40Brilliant stuff.
41:44Brad Ray victorious
41:45here in the sprint race.
41:46When we come back,
41:47we will have
41:48British Talent Cup.
41:49and get a beat.
41:51Brad.
41:51Bye.
