00:00 Today I am calling for justice. Justice for Shellan Walters, justice for Nikesha
00:10 Sandy because it cannot be that we as an island can continue to have our
00:17 brothers and sisters their life taken away and those who would have afflicted
00:22 such a heinous crime continues to walk amongst us. It cannot simply be that we
00:29 blame the central government. It cannot simply be that we blame the Minister of
00:34 Security. It cannot simply be that we blame the Tobago House of Assembly. It
00:40 cannot simply be that we blame the police. Crime starts with each and every
00:48 one of us. Mr. Morris said the present upsurging crime is a wake-up call for
00:53 Tobago. Two women have been murdered within one week. Both were shot dead. Mr.
00:59 Morris said crime transcends politics. Two women, two murders, too many and
01:07 therefore this has to be the wake-up call. This has to be the wake-up call
01:12 that suggests that the time is now to be home. We all have to come together. This
01:18 is beyond the politics. This is beyond and you notice we did not point any
01:24 fingers because I've always said that crime transcends politics. Morris said
01:31 the minority is prepared to work with the Farley Augustine-led administration
01:36 in treating with the crime situation and he called out the men of the country for
01:41 failing the women. We stand as a minority prepared, ready and able to work with all
01:50 comers including the executive for us to arrest this great concern that is crime
02:02 in Tobago and I want to speak to the men. Brothers, we are failing our women.
02:10 Brothers, we are failing our island and brothers we need to change our ways. Put
02:19 down that gun young man. Put down that idea of crime young man. Put down those
02:25 ways of hustling young man. Elizabeth Williams TV6 News
