00:00We live in a culture where titles and labels often define us, whether it's our job, education,
00:17achievements, or religious affiliation. But James reminds us that true faith is not about
00:24outward appearances or words alone, it's about the fruit of our lives. If we claim to
00:29follow Christ but speak carelessly or harshly, we contradict the very faith we profess.
00:36Pure religion goes beyond lip service. It's expressed in how we show compassion to those
00:42society often overlooks, widows, orphans, the marginalized, and the vulnerable. True devotion
00:49to God means living out our faith in humility, service, and care for others. James also warns us
00:56not to let the world's values pollute our hearts. The world may teach self-promotion, comparison,
01:02or chasing status, but God calls us to a different way, to live in integrity, purity, and love.
01:10When we practice pure religion, we reflect God's heart, merciful, generous, and untainted by pride.
01:17Our faith becomes more than words, it becomes a testimony of God's presence in us.
01:23Reflection question. Where can you shift from simply professing your faith to actively living
01:29it out in service and compassion? Application. Identify one small act of service or kindness
01:36you can extend to someone in need today. Prayer. Heavenly Father, help me to keep my tongue in check,
01:43my heart pure, and to be your hands and feet here on earth to serve those in need. May my faith be
01:50genuine and pleasing in your sight. In Jesus' name, Amen.
