00:00Day 5 Every Good and Perfect Gift
00:08It's easy to get caught up in the idea that our successes are the result of our own hard
00:13work alone. While God calls us to diligence and excellence, James reminds us that every
00:20blessing, every good and perfect gift, comes from our unchanging Father. We serve a generous
00:26God who created us with unique talents, passions and abilities, not for our glory, but for
00:32His. When we operate in our God-given gifts, we bear fruit that reflects His love and draws
00:39others to Him. Even the breath in our lungs, the people in our lives, and the opportunities
00:44before us are evidence of His goodness. God's promises remain steady. He does not shift with
00:51the culture, the times, or our circumstances. The same God who spoke creation into being
00:58and redeemed His people in Biblical history is the same God working in your life today.
01:03James urges us not to be deceived into thinking our worth, blessings, or achievements are self-made.
01:10Everything we have originates from the One who chose us, gave us new life through His Word,
01:15and called us His own. Recognizing this truth cultivates a heart of gratitude and keeps us
01:22grounded in humility. Reflection
01:24Do I recognize God's hand in the blessings of my life? Am I truly grateful for the gift of salvation?
01:32Application
01:33Take time today to list several good and perfect gifts in your life, both big and small, and thank
01:39God for each one. Prayer
01:41Heavenly Father, thank you for every good and perfect gift in my life. Help me to see your hand in every
01:48blessing, to remain humble in success, and to give you glory in all I do. Thank you most of all for
01:56the gift of salvation and the new life I have in you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
