00:00Here at Shrewsby School we have a statue of a legend Darwin but never mind that
00:04we've got another legend, Walter! How about that for an introduction?
00:08How are you Walter? What's your full name sir? Walter John Solomon Evans and Walter
00:13you've been picked for a special award haven't you? Yeah. What's the award? So
00:19the award is the British citizenship award. Fantastic so where will you have
00:23to go to it to pick that up? So I'll have to go to London to get that award. Yeah?
00:27A cool experience. Yeah that'll be very cool what what is it you've why is it
00:33they've picked you for the award then tell us a kind of about you know this is
00:36your chance to kind of blow your own trumpet so to speak. So I think it's
00:40because of all the volunteering I've done yeah and the fact that I was the first
00:44youth ambassador for the IAPWA charity. What's that charity then? What's that?
00:50So it's it's a charity that helps protect all animals across the world and I was
00:55really passionate about that since I've been young. And what was your role in that then?
01:00So I did a three peaks challenge in 24 hours which I saved about 1700 for this charity.
01:08Yeah and see I don't think Charles Darwin ever did the three peaks challenge so
01:12you've got one over on him there already. Go on yeah carry on Walter. And I think to get that
01:18to get to the ambassador side of it you have to complete a certain amount of hours volunteering
01:25and raise a certain amount and I completed that and I was the first youth ambassador.
01:29And I think currently this is still the only youth ambassador. Fantastic and where did you do your
01:35volunteering at then? So I've done it for a few different places. I've done a bit at some national
01:42trust. Yeah. I've done a bit for a another charity that I've just forgot the name of that my dad
01:50has helped. We did a 10 mile walk there. Yeah yeah. That was hard because it was very hot that day.
01:56Yeah yeah. And different other places where I've done little bits and pieces. So I'm curious what do
02:04you want to go on to do in life then you know when when you've left the Shrewsbury school here what's your
02:09plans? So at the moment I don't really have many plans. I don't really have an end goal. I think
02:15I'm just going to keep going like this and see where life takes me. That's yeah well that's a good
02:19way of thinking. I mean you're a young man. The world is your oyster so to speak. So when do you go
02:24to London to pick up this award then? Have they given you a date yet? I think they have. I think it's
02:32sometime soon. Yeah sometime soon. You can do a bit of sightseeing when you're down there? Oh definitely. Yeah yeah.
02:37Great stuff. Well well done Walter. You know if you carry on on life's journey the way you've started
02:44off you'll be destined for good things I'm sure. Well done sir. Thank you.
