Crowmoor School in Shrewsbury celebrates becoming part of the Shine Academy.

A fun packed family day complete with obstacle course was how Crowmoor School in Shrewsbury marked becoming part of the Shine Academy.

00:00We're here, Shine Academy, and it's Crowmore School in Shrewsbury. Hello guys!

00:04Hello!

00:04So we've got, introduce yourselves, Head Teacher.

00:07Yeah, so I'm Ryan Horton, I'm Head of School.

00:09And?

00:10I'm Gemma Draycott, CEO for Shine Academies.

00:12So it's a bit of a new way of working for the school isn't it? It's just become a Shine Academy,

00:17is that right?

00:18Yeah, the school joined Shine Academies officially yesterday, although we've been working with the

00:21school for the last two years. We're very excited that we've finally got it over the

00:24academisation line. And this is a bit of a special event today to kind of mark that,

00:30isn't it really? So what's happening today then?

00:32Well, we've got a whole school event going on where all of the children are involved.

00:35We've invited the whole community down with parents, carers, family and friends,

00:40and celebrating our trust and school values, which are collaboration,

00:44courageous and compassion. And I think our values are highlighted throughout today.

00:48And all of the children are taking part in an obstacle course,

00:51where they're raising money and sponsorship forms for our Friends of Crowmore group,

00:56which is a PTFA community group put together to benefit the children and the community here

01:01at Crowmore.

01:02Cool. And I saw you and Naughty CEO skirting people with water guns.

01:07I'm not supposed to stop people there.

01:09It's good fun though, isn't it?

01:10It is good fun.

01:10Yeah. So how have parents been about the change then? Has it been generally quite positively received?

01:17Yeah, I think it's been welcomed. I think it's about bringing that whole community

01:21together and we're on this journey of change together and this journey of improvement together.

01:26And I think it's a really exciting place and time to be.
