00:00No bigger game than the battle in Athens.
00:02Unbeaten Georgia was a two-and-a-half-point home favorite
00:05over the Alabama Crimson Tide.
00:08Ty Simpson and the crew walked in there, coach.
00:10They played their best game in the regular season
00:12and snapped Georgia's 33-game home winning streak.
00:17They win the ballgame outright 24-21,
00:20an A-plus effort for Kalen DeBoer's second year in the row
00:24that he's gotten the best of Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
00:28Yeah, did a great job.
00:29I mean, that was the thing I came away with,
00:31that Alabama played much more like the championship teams
00:35of Alabama of old that we saw.
00:37It was a huge game.
00:39Kalen DeBoer knew he had to get them moving in that direction.
00:42He couldn't do it without a win over Georgia.
00:45I think Georgia, and I'm not sure Kirby Smart
00:47plays a little apprehensive against Alabama.
00:50He knows it's been a nemesis to him.
00:53He doesn't want to turn the ball over.
00:54He want to run the ball.
00:55Don't make mistakes.
00:56Don't give up the deep ball,
00:58and all of a sudden you play too deep.
00:59You give up a lot of underneath throws,
01:01and I think he played,
01:03and yet the way Kirby played at fourth and one in the fourth quarter,
01:07he had a chance to go ahead and win the game
01:09and run for a million yards, 6.9 yards a carry,
01:12I mean a play,
01:13but I just still think he's playing almost like he's the underdog,
01:18and Alabama is the favorite team,
01:20and he doesn't want to mess it up.
01:23Absolutely.
01:23I think the biggest thing for me was the performance of Ty Simpson.
01:27He steps on 24 of 38.
01:30He throws for 276 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions.
01:35He looked like a different quarterback on the road
01:37based off the week one performance and the loss against Florida State.
01:41This team looked prepared.
01:43They started fast,
01:44which I thought was important to put the pressure on Gunnar Stockton
01:47and the Georgia offense to match them score for score.
01:51The other thing, too,
01:51I just think that Alabama's wide receivers, Bernard, Williams,
01:55they were just a little bit better than what we saw from an offensive perspective, right?
01:59And I thought that's where the game was lost.
02:02Yeah.
02:03Absolutely.
02:03Absolutely.
02:04I think the talent at the wide out position
02:06and their ability to make extra yardage after they catch it,
02:10to get open underneath, kept to Alabama on their heels all day.
02:15And then Ty Simpson.
02:16You know, Ty Simpson, to me,
02:17reminds me of what we thought about C.J. Carr at Notre Dame.
02:20Had all the look of a quarterback,
02:22the background of a good quarterback,
02:24does all the right things,
02:25but we hadn't seen enough of him yet.
02:27The more we see of Ty Simpson,
02:30the more you like him.
02:31He fits into that.
02:33This guy looks like a quarterback,
02:35acts like a quarterback,
02:36and he gets the ball.
02:38He dishes off to people that make plays for him
02:40instead of having to make plays himself.
02:43And Gunnar Stockton did not do bad.
02:45I just don't see they got, what, one sack the entire game,
02:48I think, either none or one,
02:50against them, against Alabama,
02:53and just not at the pressure
02:55that we're used to seeing the great defensive line put
02:57on opponents' quarterbacks.
02:59Gunnar Stockton completes 13 of 20 for 130 yards,
03:04one touchdown, no interceptions.
03:07Georgia does rush for over 200 yards,
03:09over six yards per carry.
03:11It's the first loss, Coach,
03:13dating back to 2016,
03:15that the Bulldogs have rushed for over 200 yards
03:18and lost the ballgame.
03:19It was the first time dating back to 2016.
03:22They are now 51-1
03:24straight up against FCS and FBS opponents.
03:27Defense played well.
03:29They held Alabama to only 117 yards on the ground,
03:333.1 yards per carry.
03:35I think in a rematch type of situation,
03:37we'll see if Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs
03:39play a little bit differently
03:41should they both get to the SEC championship game.
03:44going back.
03:45So,
03:50where's he going?
03:53I think he's already done.
03:54I think he can be done.
