00:00All eyes were on the Vanderbilt Commodores favorite against the LSU Tigers for the first time dating back to 1948.
00:07LSU had won 10 straight, entering that matchup the last four by an average margin of victory of 23.2 points per game.
00:15But Diego Pavia and the Commodores do it yet again.
00:19They knock off LSU.
00:21They win it and cover as a two and a half point home favorite.
00:25Brian Kelly's on the hot seat.
00:27This team has no offensive identity.
00:28And LSU now is searching for answers.
00:32Yeah, LSU, the fans are just, they're fit to be tied.
00:36And again, they've got a lot of money tied up into Brian Kelly.
00:40He's got a lot of season left.
00:42He's five and two.
00:43So you almost have to continue to wait to see what's happened.
00:46But I can feel the atmosphere in Louisiana because I live in Louisiana.
00:50And they are fit to be tied because Vandy was favored.
00:54And I'm going to tell you, watching that game, it didn't look like an upset.
00:57They couldn't get Vandy's offense.
01:00Now, and they're, I mean, LSU defense was only giving up 11 points a game.
01:04But Vandy never punted until the last two series of the fourth quarter.
01:07They never punted the football.
01:10Diego Pavia was incredible.
01:12In fact, he even struck the Heisman pose during the game.
01:15But that Vandy just was just too good of a football team.
01:20And I think a lot of credit goes to that quarterback and the way he gets first downs.
01:24But if LSU cannot, for the second year in a row, they don't run the ball well enough.
01:29And then eventually, your defense is not going to hold up like, because their defense has been good all year.
01:34But it didn't hold up quite enough against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
01:38I agree, and I think I'll give a majority of the loss on Brian Kelly.
01:45I give some of it to Joe Sloan, the offensive coordinator, because we knew that LSU could not run the football consistently.
01:52When you look at Vanderbilt's defense, that was one of the strengths of the front seven, holding opposing offenses to 3.2 yards per carry, 90 rushing yards per game.
02:01While you're trying to force the square peg into the round hole in a must-win type of game on the road, I understand you want to run the football.
02:09Sometimes you've got to throw to run, though.
02:11They didn't go attack them vertically with the speed.
02:14They went sideline to sideline, which goes right into the strength they were put into predictable third downs.
02:20And that's why Garrett Nussmeyer got battered yet again.
02:23Sometimes you have to think outside of the box.
02:25They had a speed advantage and never took advantage of that against that secondary.
02:30Yeah, and the way they were playing in the red zone, they needed those explosive plays because one of the big stats that just sticks that at you is LSU had to kick four field goals.
02:41They made three of those field goals, so that means they scored in the red zone.
02:44But when you don't get a touchdown in the red zone, to many people, that's a negative, not a positive.
02:50And because you can't run, it gets magnified the closer you get to the goal line.
02:55And when LSU has to kick four field goals instead of scoring touchdowns, that goes back.
03:00If you're going to make sure you get good in the running game, like you've got to have explosive plays to go with it to open them up.
03:07And then you've got to be good in the red zone of finishing your drives.
03:10LSU could not finish their drives against Vanderbilt.
