00:05Intro to Reading Your Bible
00:07What is the Bible?
00:09The Bible is the inspired, perfect, authoritative Word of God, revealing His love for the world.
00:16God is the author of the Bible, and He used people to write it.
00:21Why do we read the Bible?
00:23Spending time with God through His Word, the Bible, is how we become more like Him and get to know
00:29Him.
00:30God's Word is His primary way of communicating with us.
00:34If we don't know His Word, we won't know Him.
00:37How do I read my Bible?
00:39Pick a consistent time and place to read your Bible every day.
00:44Make a commitment to form a habit of daily Bible reading.
00:48This reading plan is a great way to start.
00:51Every day of this Bible reading plan will be divided into sections that will help you understand what you are
00:57reading
00:58and you can repeat in future Bible studies.
01:01Here is what some of those sections look like.

02:16How do I use my Bible?
02:18The Bible is made up of 66 different books.
02:21To find a book in a paper Bible, open to the table of contents to find the page number of
02:27the book you are looking for in that particular printed Bible.
02:31In the Bible app, you can search by Bible verse address or keywords or click the link to the verse
02:37referenced on every page.
02:39For example, on today's reading, day 1, the scripture is John 1 verse 1 to 3.
02:46What are chapters and verses?
02:48In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
02:53He was with God in the beginning.
02:56Through Him all things were made.
02:58Without Him nothing was made that has been made.
03:01John 1 verse 1 to 3
03:03Take a look at John 1 verse 1 to 3 above.
03:06In the address of that verse, the first large number before the colon is the chapter of that book.
03:13So the text above is from the book of John, chapter 1.
03:17Why are there numbers in the middle of the text like 2 and 3?
03:22The numbers after the colon in the address, and before some of the words in the text represent verses that
03:28are in the chapter.
03:29Verse 1 normally does not have a verse number next to it.
03:34The text above is John 1 verse 1 to 3.
03:37It is normally written as John 1 verse 1 to 3.
03:41All means no sense of the story.
03:42The text above is John 1 verse 1.
03:44The text above is John 2 verse 1.
03:46How many of the text above is John 1 verse 1.
