03:21regret it i want to talk to you about something really interesting today i wanted to go over a
03:28couple of bible stories with you and i wanted to show you show you what god was doing really interesting
03:36i want you to go back in time with me it's about i don't know
03:39wow 2500 years thereabouts something like that 2700 anyway it's a long time ago let's go back together
03:55we're in the land of egypt's egypt and one of the greatest um citizens of egypt
04:02was the legendary prophet moses moses was an israelite who was also an egyptian citizen and he wasn't just
04:15an egyptian citizen according to josephus he was a tremendous leader and field general
04:23in armies he was a leader of uh the armies of egypt he was way up in the system
04:36and you know the story of moses you've read it uh he got into some bad trouble uh some guy
04:42he killed a guy um he was petrified of being executed for murder obviously if a jew killed an egyptian it was
04:54an instant death sentence so the guy fled he left egypt and he ended up way out in the desert
05:04he met some guy who was a sheep farmer
05:11the the old man saw moses's obvious capabilities obvious leadership skills obvious intelligence
05:18and put him to work he said hey you want to start managing these sheep and moses said this is a
05:27perfect hideaway here no one will ever find me from egypt they'll never guess i ended up
05:34traveling sheep around
05:38they wouldn't believe i would even do something like that considering my previous status and on top
05:44of that uh the old man said hey you can have my daughter as your wife to boot how do you like that
05:50moses goes i'm in as you know one day um after 40 years moses is out in the desert and he sees the
06:00burning bush everybody knows that story there have been movies made about it and uh god comes to him
06:07and says uh ezekiel exodus chapter 3 hey i'm going to send you back to egypt to lead my people out of
06:16bondage i've heard their prayers and i need you to do it and moses because he after 40 years had had
06:28left his identity and everything he used to be in egypt
06:36all the greatness the parties the chicks
06:42the fame the glory he had left it behind 40 years ago
06:48and uh moses no longer saw himself as a great man with all kinds of assets he now saw himself
07:02as somebody you know who shovels sheep around
07:04his uh self-esteem used to be way up here oh man now it was way down there
07:15now it was way down there
07:18and moses after god called him started making all kinds of excuses five to be exact
07:26he had one excuse after the other
07:31and what was actually happening there was moses's self-concept was manifesting
07:40and that's the way human beings are they have whatever their self-concept is
07:46under under pressure situations it will manifest
07:49usually in the form of fear if you have a low self-concept
07:56so as soon as soon as the devil turns the heat up on you
08:01if you're with me now as soon as he turns that dial up on you trials temptations pressures
08:11your self your self-concept your view of yourself will manifest
08:17and it usually manifests in fear
08:23anxiety worry concern blame shame whatever it is and moses started manifesting
08:35and moses's self-esteem went from here in egypt to here
08:41in the deserts with the sheep he had become you know essentially kind of a nothing and a nobody but
08:50what i want you to know about this story is that god saw in moses assets
09:00he didn't see in anybody else
09:02he saw inside moses assets that moses didn't know he still had his eyes this concept of his self his
09:16self-identity who am i is it me is it myself is it i now was down here
09:25the pits
09:31bad
09:34but god saw into him
09:38and saw that he had assets in there
09:41that moses wasn't aware of that's exactly what god
09:48is doing to you
09:51while you're under pressure when the devil's pounding on you
09:55your assets kind of fade away and all you sense is this
10:01pressure
10:04family spouses kids money
10:08all these pressures come upon you
10:13and when that happens your view of yourself your concept of self your self-identity starts to manifest
10:22and if you have low self-esteem it manifests in fear and anxiety
10:29and moses was loaded with it loaded he started making excuses
10:36he was grabbing at straws to get out of this
10:40concept of being sent back to egypt that he had gotten
10:44got away from 40 years earlier
10:48and he couldn't wait to get out of egypt
10:51he was running for his life
10:55he said i can't speak
10:57you know
10:59what am i going to say they won't believe me
11:00unbelievable stuff
11:06and what god started to do in that meeting
11:09was
11:12build up his concept of himself
11:17and he did it through words
11:19and he did it through the supernatural
11:23one supernatural event was he threw his staff down
11:27and the staff
11:29became this horrible snake
11:32and moses
11:35low self-esteem manifested and he ran
11:39scared to death
11:41and god said hey don't run away go ahead and pick it up by the tail go on
11:44pick it up
11:46and he picked it up and boom
11:48it turned back into a staff
11:50he then gave him the leper hand remember that he stuck his hand in his row brought it out
11:55stuck it back in again it was restored
11:57what was god doing there he god's doing that
12:00because he does the same thing to you
12:03he
12:05has to
12:07fix your self-concept
12:09before he can use you for his glory
12:13if your self-concept is still low
12:16he can't use you he's got all these gifts he wants to give you
12:20but he can't give them to you
12:23until your self-concept is fixed
12:30if you have a low self-concept low self-esteem low opinion of yourself
12:33if you're hard on yourself you're critical of yourself
12:36god can't use you
12:40for his glory
12:42can't do it he has a ministry for you he has
12:45supernatural gifts of the spirit he has all these things he wants to give you
12:50but he can't do it because you can't manage him
12:55because you have a low view of yourself
12:58and people
13:03and again friend i've been a counselor for over 40 years
13:07people come into my office and they don't understand why god won't bless them
13:12how come i can't get my prayers answered where are my blessings at
13:15what happened to my giftings i'm supposed to be a missionary i was called to be a missionary
13:2130 years ago i'm still not there what happened and all these different they say all these different
13:26things that have not happened that they have been hoping and praying would happen over the years
13:33and they don't realize and they don't understand that
13:36if god can't fix your self-esteem
13:39he can't use you for his glory
13:47and so god went about fixing moses's low self-esteem
13:54he used different methods
13:56one of moses excuses was hey i stutter i can't speak i if i get up and talk somebody i look like an idiot
14:02god said well what's the problem who made men's mouths i created people's mouths i will put my
14:13words in your mouth no problemo moses said oh man i'm scared to death send somebody else
14:22the good lord then goes oh brother here comes aaron because moses was late to getting the sheep back
14:29because he was talking with god so aaron comes looking for him where's my brother
14:39and aaron did not stutter in fact that he ran his mouth like a busted chainsaw he could talk and talk
14:44all day long and in fact his family was so tired of listening to talk he'd drive them nuts you ever
14:50had a family member like that ever ever had a co-worker like that oh you dread going in the office
14:56remember that oh no there's there's brenda there's bob oh geez they're gonna talk all day
15:05telling telling us how great they are what they did how they did it when they did it oh so tired of it
15:11jeez well that was aaron
15:17that old golden calf thing years later that wasn't even supposed to happen
15:20aaron wasn't even supposed to go he wasn't even supposed to be there but because moses's
15:28low self-concept god had to use aaron to help him overcome that
15:40you cannot be used by god if you
15:43you cannot get your self-concept fixed
15:51you cannot get it fixed unless you cooperate with the lord
15:55hear the word of god and do what he told you to do you can't get your self-concept fixed
16:03all right let's go back what 20 20 200 years 2300 let's go back together
16:15jehovah comes to jeremiah when he's a young
16:21young man he said hey
16:26you're a mighty prophet to the nations jeremiah go
16:33what you're talking about with us
16:37lord let me explain something to you i have a low self-concept and i have a low
16:41view of myself see
16:48he does the exact same thing to gideon he comes to gideon and says hey you are a mighty man of a
16:54seat listen to me carefully god looks at you and sees assets you don't know you have
17:03he said it to gideon he said it to jeremiah
17:10he says the apostle paul on the road in damascus
17:14he said hey you're a serial killer you're a religious fanatic
17:19but i see assets in you you don't see
17:23god sees you not as you are now but what you could be covered
17:35so god called it out hey gideon you are a mighty man of valor gideon
17:48mouth hit the floor so what are you smoking are you crazy my family's full of goofs
17:55i'm one of them i'm a goof they're goofs everybody goof
18:09what happened well god had to repair his self-concept and used four miracles to do it
18:17remember the fleeces well anyway god did the same thing with jeremiah
18:22he said hey i gotta repair your self-esteem
18:31similar time frame go back the great prophet isaiah god came to him showed him a vision
18:39showed him a vision like stephen in the book of acts remember vision of heaven there fantastic
18:48and uh isaiah saw that and goes oh my god
18:54i got a low self-concept
18:58i got low self-esteem
19:00what happened then god had to fix isaiah's
19:07low self-concept
19:11he did the same to gideon he said the same to jeremiah he did the same to paul
19:18after jesus was resurrected he hauls peter aside down by the river
19:22hey peter down by the lake he says hey peter
19:26do you like me peter goes yes lord you know that i love you second time peter
19:39come on peter do you love me peter's of course lord you know i love you
19:46you know i love you third time peter do you even like me and god go
19:52peter goes oh come on he gets exasperated
19:57and jesus said feed my lambs and feed my sheep
20:02he said peter i'm taking you back
20:05i know you hate yourself for what you did you denied me three times in public
20:10you were cursing and swearing i heard you i saw you but i'm going to restore you you're going to become
20:17a super apostle and you're going to die an old man after a long ministry but when you die
20:25you're going to die it's going to be bad things are going to go
20:31very tough what was jesus doing he was restoring peter's self
20:39concept who he saw himself as and if you don't allow god to restore your self concept
20:48or your view of yourself if you don't allow that to happen you cannot serve god and you will not
21:00receive the anointings the giftings and the blessings you have been praying about for years
21:07for years
21:12for years
21:15and
21:17again i have counseled with hundreds of christians individually on a personal basis
21:22you would not believe how prevalent a problem it is
21:29with born-again christians who have a low view of themselves low self concept
21:34you wouldn't believe it i mean it's so common it's shocking
21:43it's so common i almost expect it on every counseling case i have
21:48i almost like not entirely but you know it's up there
21:54what how does this person view themselves and during the counseling session that's one of my main goals
22:00i try to find out how the person views themselves because listen to me carefully
22:08listen to me now how you view yourself depends
22:14on what kind of future you have
22:18how you see yourself determines your future
22:26what happens to you 20 years from now is determined by
22:30how you see yourself now
22:36and that's why god spent so much time time trying to repair
22:40the self-concept of born-again christians because they're not fixed when they get born again and
22:46filled with the spirit doesn't matter whether you're born again or filled with the spirit you have
22:50to go through this process of self restoration
22:53that's why god spent so much time on first corinthians chapter one and
23:02ephesians chapter one that's why it was the first chapter of those books
23:06it was that important he made it first here's first corinthians and the most important thing is chapter one
23:16here's ephesians full of unbelievable miracles but the most important thing is chapter one
23:23what is that the restoration of your self-concept
23:28and guess what's the good news god restored isaiah's self-concept
23:37he became a super prophet he restored gideon's
23:44self-concept he became a mighty man of valor
23:48he restored moses's self-concept
23:53that he had left 40 years earlier in egypt
23:57he restored it he restored it expanded on it and as of this moment i'm talking to you
24:06the nation of israel is in existence right now today
24:152 400 years later hard to believe in it and none of it would have ever happened and moses
24:22not allowed god to repair his concept of himself
24:29what i'm sharing with you today is the most important bible study you will probably
24:33ever hear or receive in your entire life that's how important today's podcast is
24:42i'd be straining to think of a more important bible study that i shared in the past more important
24:49than this one i'd have to strain to get it
24:55but my friend if you read through ephesians 1 and you read through first corinthians chapter 1
25:02you will leave your old self behind and you will become this monster
25:11of faith god has called you to be
25:19you may see your family as a bunch of certified kooks and they probably are
25:26i've done marriage counseling over the years i've done family counseling i understand that i'm with you
25:31following it
25:34your family are probably a bunch of kooks it's always mine okay
25:37you are not defined by your old family you are now defined by your new family
25:48you are not a smith or a jones or a gonzalez
25:52you are now in the family of father
25:56that's your new identity
26:07oh who am i smith no i'm not i transitioned
26:15not sexually i didn't transition from a woman to a man i mean i transitioned spiritually from smith
26:23to the kingdom of god my dad i transitioned out of my dad into the loving hands of my heavenly father
26:37he's now he's now my father not my dad
26:39i hope i'm helping you today because if you don't if you don't have any self-esteem or you have low
26:49self-esteem or you you won't receive your new self-esteem from the holy spirit you're not going
26:54to do any of that i'm just warning you right now i'm telling you and you know i'm telling you the truth
27:00i wouldn't lie to you you know me better than that
27:06you are not going to get your blessings or your miracles or your answered prayers you have been
27:11dreaming of having for years you are not going to have them they will not come
27:22now will you do the right thing today you're going to repent of having a low self-concept low
27:29self-esteem a low self-identity you're going to repent of identifying with your family tree
27:39your parents your grandparents your great-grandparents you're going to repent
27:46of receiving your old name smith jones valdez gonzalez
27:53and you're going to receive your new name written down in glory remember that old pentecostal
27:58song they sang in the pentecostal sing there's a new name written down in glory
28:06and it's mine oh yes remember that song
28:14huh of course you do if you don't look it up on youtube pretty good song
28:21i'm asking you for something today would you do that would you would you stop with your old self
28:30concept and how you used to be will you do that will you read chapter one
28:39chapter one on those two books revolutionary
28:41that's your chance as mickey said that rocky you got a shot at the title
28:56yeah it was a once-in-a-lifetime deal rocky got a shot at the title mickey was absolutely flabbergasted
29:04he couldn't believe it that a club fighter like rocky balboa would get a shot at the title you
29:14ever see that movie rocky the original rocky that's the best one of the i think they made 40 of them
29:19the best one of the 40 rockies was the first one by far
29:24you know mickey said the rocky before the fight started just before they went in the ring i'm kid
29:39you know what it's time it is time for you to lay down the old you
29:46and paul hinted at the old you being what he called the old man but part of the old man is that
29:59old self-esteem concept you used to have for yourself before you became a born-again christian
30:07and before you received the holy ghost so you had this concept and unfortunately the devil tricked you
30:13mentally to carrying it over into your christian life and it has blocked your miracles your healings
30:18your blessings your deliverance everything is blocked
30:26and that's going to stop it's going to stop and so i say to you
30:34as god said to gideon who saw himself as a total complete loser
30:43that's in essence what gideon was saying in addition he said i'm not only a total loser my whole family
30:56is loaded with total losers
31:06guess what happened you know what happened you read the story of course you have
31:10you know the story i'm just highlighting a couple things out of the story
31:16to get you to see what you need to do you want those miracles you want those giftings you want the
31:23anointing you you were probably you want the ministry you were promised hello yes i think it's yes
31:31let's let's fix this let's fix this real quick let me pray real quick father god in the mighty name of jesus christ
31:43some of my friends on the podcast they've been struggling with low self-esteem
31:47for years
31:52and i'm praying and asking you to forgive them
31:53please forgive them
31:55please forgive them
31:58i pray you'll give them the anointing today to read chapter one
32:06and believe chapter one
32:09because as king solomon said
32:12as a man thinketh in his heart
32:15so is he
