05:07Many years ago, I transitioned out of secular counseling.
05:12I'd been a secular counselor for 25 years.
05:15And I was a very successful person.
05:18I was a millionaire.
05:18I had a wonderful practice in downtown Phoenix.
05:24Everything from that perspective was fantastic.
05:29And then I got converted.
05:32My youngest daughter led me to the Lord.
05:34And I transitioned out of secular counseling.
05:39I felt God was calling me into Christian counseling.
05:41And I did that in 2005.
05:45And in order to do that, as I've mentioned before, I had to renew my mind, have my mind retrained on psychology and counseling.
05:56Because I had been trained in those fields based on secular psychology and secular counseling.
06:04And I knew that wasn't going to work.
06:07And in my early research of how I was going to transition myself and what kind of a counselor I was going to be,
06:15I ran across this section in Romans chapter 12.
06:20And it really gave me a lot of insights into Christianity, counseling, psychology, helping people, how to help people.
06:33Really fantastic.
06:34I wanted to share it with you today.
06:35It won't take long.
06:37If you go to Romans chapter 12, it's quite remarkable in that section.
06:41First, Paul mentions, kind of midway down through the chapter, he mentions that people have different types of spiritual gifts.
06:55And I noticed they were very interesting.
07:01Number one, verse six, he says, everybody has, you know, different types of gifts.
07:06People don't have the same gifts.
07:08And all the gifts that people have are based on the proportion of faith they use to administer that gift.
07:25So, for example, if somebody has the same gift of prophecy, he says, this prophetic gift here would operate better and more efficiently.
07:38If they had a greater proportion of faith to operate that gift.
07:43They have the same gift, but they're operated differently.
07:48They're used differently.
07:49And the effect is different.
07:51And he goes down the list here of these interesting gifts that I've seen many, many church people have.
07:59One of them, as I just mentioned, was prophecy.
08:01But the other one, the next one he mentioned was ministry.
08:04Diakoneia is a Greek word for ministry.
08:09That means to be someone who serves others.
08:13And you say, well, everybody has that gift.
08:16No, no.
08:17Some people have the actual gift of ministry.
08:19They're just exceptionally good at it.
08:21And they always seem to be at the right place at the right time on the right spot to serve other people.
08:28It really is a gift.
08:29It's really fantastic.
08:32And the next one he mentioned was obviously teaching.
08:38That is definitely a gift.
08:41In the secular world, it's a gift for sure.
08:44I had many professors in college.
08:48I went to Emporia State University in Kansas.
08:50And I had many, many professors that were, they were terrible.
08:57They were boring.
08:59They looked stupid.
09:01Some of them were dumb.
09:04You couldn't believe they actually got a Ph.D.
09:07And teaching is a gift.
09:09Not everybody can teach.
09:11No, they really can't.
09:12And again, all teaching gifts operate based on the proportion of faith you have for that gift.
09:19So this person may have the same gift as you, teaching, but you're a better teacher, more effective teacher, more comprehensive teacher than this one.
09:31Each gift that God gives people is given based on you, your proportion of faith.
09:45See that?
09:46Every one of them is different.
09:48Gift of healing.
09:49Do you have a gift of healing?
09:51Well, this person's gift of healing may be more powerful, more effective, and more vast than this one's.
09:57Again, it's based on the proportion of faith that you use for your specific gift.
10:04Teaching is exactly the same way.
10:05The next one he mentioned is exhortation.
10:08Wow, that was really an interesting, eye-opening event for me.
10:16Exhortation is a spiritual gift.
10:20Everybody can exhort others.
10:22The Greek word is paralikaal.
10:24It means to come to someone's side and support them.
10:27Everybody does that and everybody can do it.
10:30But there's actually a gift for that.
10:33And these kind of people that have that gift, they're extremely effective at supporting people and encouraging people and leading them out of situations of anxiety and depression and everything.
10:48They're really very gifted at it.
10:49Again, it operates at different levels depending upon your proportion of faith.
10:56And then he says there's another gift, ruling, which I thought was interesting.
11:02Wow, ruling is the Greek word proistame.
11:11And some people are natural-born leaders in the secular world, for example, George Patton.
11:18And then other people in the spirit world are natural-born spiritual leaders.
11:23They have a gift to show people spiritual things, how to receive them, how to apply them, how to progress with them.
11:32It's really quite a gift.
11:34And they're leaders.
11:35They're spiritual leaders.
11:36Here, follow me.
11:37Look this way.
11:39That's a gift.
11:42The next one he mentioned was mercy.
11:44Eliao is a Greek word.
11:45It means the ability to have compassion on other people, the ability to have empathy.
11:52And that one really struck me because in my field as a counselor, empathy, being able to see the other person's world through their eyes, from their perspective, is enormously valuable as a counselor or a therapist.
12:09Being able to see things through somebody else's eyes.
12:13My granddad used to word it like this.
12:15He says, don't judge a man until you've walked a mile in his moccasins.
12:18My granddad used to wear moccasins around the house all the time.
12:24And that's exactly it.
12:26That's a gift.
12:28Being compassionate with people is a gift.
12:30Most people don't even, most Christians have very little compassion.
12:34It's really quite shocking.
12:36They have the Holy Spirit, but they don't have a lot of compassion for others.
12:42They have a lot of compassion for themselves, but not others.
12:45It's a gift, friend.
12:48It's a gift, and it operates at different levels depending on your proportion of faith.
12:52And then he says something amazing.
12:57Let your love, that's the Greek word, agape, unconditional love.
13:02Let your unconditional love be without dissimulation.
13:08Anopakritas is the Greek word.
13:09It means without hypocrisy.
13:11In other words, don't be like a politician.
13:16100% of all politicians are pathological liars.
13:20There are no exceptions.
13:23And they do things constantly out of hypocrisy.
13:31Why?
13:31Because they don't have any actual opinions of their own.
13:34They actually wait to see what you think,
13:36and then they kind of mold their opinion about what you think,
13:40and they're looking for votes.
13:44The next one is quite remarkable,
13:47and I have seen this so many times in my counseling practice.
13:53Abhor,
13:53abhor,
13:58apostageo,
14:01abhor to detest
14:03that which is evil.
14:07Greek word,
14:08paneras,
14:09perverted.
14:10Okay?
14:12And cleave,
14:15kolao,
14:17glue yourself
14:18to that which is good.
14:25Wow.
14:28Can you imagine that?
14:31Well,
14:32you can imagine this too.
14:33That has got to be
14:36one of the centerpieces
14:38of Christians who are failures,
14:43spiritual failures.
14:45No question.
14:48Some people call it compromising.
14:51And the reason people compromise
14:54is because
14:56they don't
15:00detest
15:01things that are
15:03perverted
15:04and bad.
15:06You know,
15:07they kind of walk along
15:08that thin line
15:09between
15:09good and bad.
15:11They're kind of on one line.
15:13They're on the good side,
15:15but sometimes they kind of
15:16stick their toe
15:17over
15:18the line,
15:19and they
15:20don't really,
15:23really hate it.
15:24And that's why Jesus said,
15:25you cannot serve
15:26two masters,
15:27you must hate
15:27one of them.
15:28If you are mentally ill
15:30and you can live with it,
15:31you got to die with it.
15:33If you are a person
15:35that has
15:35lust problems
15:36or anger problems
15:37or you take offenses,
15:38then you got to die with it.
15:43You have to.
15:44There's no way
15:45to get rid of it
15:46unless
15:46you do what Jesus said.
15:48You cannot serve
15:49two masters.
15:51You must
15:52hate
15:53Greek word
15:55maseo
15:55despise
15:57one of them.
16:00And that's the problem
16:01in Christianity today.
16:02You can see it all over
16:03the United States.
16:04It's absolutely amazing.
16:06Christians do not
16:07despise
16:08evil.
16:10They love the Lord,
16:12but they don't
16:15despise
16:16evil,
16:16and so they become
16:17compromisers.
16:21The people that get
16:22delivered from demons
16:23very quickly,
16:25what are they like?
16:26People that have
16:27the gift of hate
16:28and despise
16:29perversion
16:32and evil.
16:35They receive
16:36this godly gift
16:39of righteous
16:40indignation
16:41and they
16:42hate
16:43evil.
16:46The legendary
16:47British evangelist
16:48Smith Wigglesworth
16:49ignored
16:52everything
16:53people said
16:54or thought about him
16:55because he had
16:57tunnel vision.
17:01He knew who
17:02his real enemy was
17:03and it wasn't
17:04the people.
17:05It wasn't
17:05the pastors.
17:06It wasn't
17:06the ministers.
17:07None of those
17:10were his
17:11enemy.
17:13He knew
17:14it was the devil.
17:16The devil
17:16was his true
17:17enemy.
17:19He hated him.
17:20He hated
17:21what he did
17:21to people.
17:23He hated
17:23the destruction
17:24he caused
17:26people,
17:27the sicknesses,
17:27the diseases.
17:28He hated it.
17:30He absolutely
17:31hated it.
17:31And the
17:33Lord Jesus
17:33had hate
17:34too.
17:35He had
17:35lots of
17:35hate.
17:36He was
17:36really good
17:36with hate.
17:38I'm so
17:39grateful he
17:39was a
17:40massive
17:40hater.
17:42Jesus
17:43looked at
17:43people with
17:44this compassion
17:45we've just
17:45talked about
17:46and he
17:47despised
17:50these
17:50diseases
17:51the devil
17:53put on
17:53people.
17:56He
17:56despised
17:58the sicknesses
17:59and the
18:00illnesses
18:00the devil
18:02inflicted
18:02people with.
18:03He despised
18:04what these
18:06demons were
18:07doing to
18:07people,
18:07taking over
18:08their minds,
18:09destroying
18:09their bodies.
18:11He despised
18:12it.
18:13And Paul
18:13steps up
18:14here and
18:14hits this
18:15thing out
18:15of the
18:16park.
18:17Man,
18:17you've
18:18got to
18:18abhor
18:19that which
18:20is evil.
18:21you must
18:25cleave
18:26kolao,
18:28glue.
18:32Kolao
18:32means to
18:32be glued
18:34to that
18:37which is
18:37good.
18:39This is
18:40radical.
18:40This is
18:41radical
18:41teaching.
18:42This is
18:42off the
18:43chain
18:43unbelievable
18:44because this
18:45is not the
18:46way Christians
18:46are.
18:48They like
18:49good things.
18:50They like
18:50church.
18:50They like
18:51worshiping.
18:52They like
18:52this and
18:52they like
18:53that but
18:53they don't
18:53cleave to
18:54it all
18:56day long.
18:57They're not
18:57glued to
18:58it.
18:58So Paul
18:59is using
18:59extreme
19:00language here
19:01trying to
19:03get Christians
19:03to realize
19:04that you
19:04cannot
19:04compromise
19:05your faith
19:06and get
19:06rid of
19:06demons.
19:07You can't
19:08compromise
19:08your faith
19:09and get
19:11healed.
19:14There's
19:15no room
19:15to Paul
19:17everything was
19:17black and
19:18white.
19:18black and
19:20white.
19:21That's
19:21it.
19:23Godliness
19:24evil.
19:29There
19:30weren't
19:30there
19:30weren't
19:31three there
19:31wasn't
19:31three sides
19:32to Paul.
19:33Then in
19:34verse 10
19:34he says
19:35be kindly
19:36affectionate
19:37one to
19:39another
19:40with
19:41what
19:42brotherly
19:44love
19:44Greek word
19:45Philadelphia
19:45where we
19:47get our
19:47English word
19:48Philadelphia.
19:50Yeah.
19:51My chiefs
19:52are playing

19:55I don't have
19:56good feelings
19:57about it but

19:57different issue.

20:14of yourself

20:19maniacal
20:21kooks on
20:22YouTube
20:22are all
20:24vast
20:25self-promoters.
20:28You can
20:29click on
20:29almost any
20:30minister on
20:30YouTube and
20:32their concept
20:33is I'm at
20:34the top of
20:34the pyramid
20:35here and I
20:36got to
20:36promote myself
20:37to get my
20:38ministry to
20:38flourish.
20:40When in
20:40fact the
20:40opposite is
20:41true if
20:41you focus
20:42on others
20:42your gift
20:44of caring
20:46for others
20:47and compassion
20:48people will
20:50recognize it
20:50just like
20:51that.
20:51People can
20:52spot somebody
20:53who's a
20:54phony clear
20:55down the
20:56street and
20:57you can see
20:57them coming.
20:59People know
21:00that.
21:01They got to
21:01instinctively
21:02know that.
21:05They can
21:06sense it.
21:10And then he
21:11goes on to
21:11say do
21:11not be
21:12slothful in
21:12business.
21:14Slothful of
21:14course.
21:17Akneros is
21:18the Greek
21:18word.
21:21And it
21:21means exactly
21:22that.
21:22Lazy.
21:24Not being
21:25punctual.
21:26Not getting
21:26the job
21:27done.
21:30Slothful.
21:31Nobody likes
21:32somebody who's
21:32slothful.
21:32Nobody likes
21:33somebody who's
21:33late to work
21:34all the time.
21:34be fervent.

22:23finished the
22:23miracle list.

22:28years they
22:30still have
22:31not finished
22:31their
22:31deliverance.
22:34I mean
22:38it's
22:38it's so
22:39common
22:40it's just
22:41shocking.
22:46They're
22:46still not
22:47done with
22:47their
22:47deliverance.
22:48They still
22:49haven't done
22:50the miracle
22:50list after
22:51five years
22:52three years.
22:56Why?
22:57they don't
22:59abhor
22:59evil and
23:02they don't
23:02glue
23:03themselves
23:03to that
23:05which is
23:06good.
23:07They don't
23:08have that
23:09it factor.
23:12They're a
23:13kind of a
23:14waffling
23:14Christian.
23:19They lose
23:20their concept
23:21of being
23:21well.
23:21they've
23:23been sick
23:24so long
23:25that they're
23:26kind of
23:26used to
23:27it.
23:28You know
23:28they get
23:29certain
23:29benefits out
23:30of being
23:30sick.
23:32Pity,
23:34sympathy,
23:35social security
23:36benefits.
23:37They don't
23:38see themselves
23:39as being
23:40well and
23:42healed and
23:43delivered
23:43because they've
23:46kind of
23:46developed a
23:47satanically
23:48dependent
23:48lifestyle
23:49of not
23:52hating
23:53abhorring
23:56evil and
23:59the devil.
24:01Wigglesworth
24:02was again
24:03infuriated
24:04at times
24:05by Satan.
24:07He was
24:07really
24:08angry at
24:10what he was
24:10doing to
24:10the people
24:11and how
24:12dangerous
24:12he was.
24:14And then
24:15during the
24:15prayer line
24:16many times
24:17Wigglesworth
24:17would just
24:18stand there
24:18praying for
24:19people
24:19weeping
24:20weeping.
24:22Again he
24:22had the
24:22gift of
24:23mercy,
24:25the gift
24:25of compassion
24:26along with
24:28his enormous
24:29gift of
24:29healing which
24:31was you
24:31know unequaled
24:34as far as
24:35I can tell.
24:38You've got
24:39to hate
24:40the devil
24:40and hate
24:41what he
24:42does.
24:44And when
24:44you serve
24:45him by
24:46taking offenses
24:46losing your
24:47temper acting
24:49out on
24:49your lusts
24:50whenever you
24:51criticize
24:52somebody else
24:53whenever you
24:53develop ought
24:55for people
24:56and you
24:57don't feel
24:58good about
24:59them.

25:02hating

25:08not glued

25:18their marriage

25:23miracle list
25:24they can't
25:28receive their
25:28gifts from
25:29God
25:29they can't
25:30get into
25:30their destiny
25:31they can't
25:32develop their
25:33ministry
25:33you wouldn't
25:34believe it
25:34I mean I'm
25:35talking hundreds
25:36I've seen
25:36hundreds of
25:37hundreds
25:39not one or
25:39two
25:39I've been
25:41doing this
25:41for 43
25:41years
25:42I've seen
25:42hundreds
25:43of disabled
25:45people
25:45why
25:49they don't
25:51hate
25:51abhor
25:52evil
25:55and they're
25:56not glued
25:57when you're
25:59glued to
26:00something you
26:00can't get
26:01away from
26:01it
26:01you can't
26:02be removed
26:03off of
26:03it
26:04glued
26:05to
26:07that which
26:08is good
26:09you can't
26:10get away
26:10from it
26:10but Christians
26:13are not
26:13glued to
26:13it
26:14they're okay
26:14with it
26:15they like
26:15it
26:15they wish
26:17they could
26:17do that
26:18but they
26:18kind of
26:20vacillate
26:20back and
26:21forth
26:21they don't
26:22hate it
26:22they don't
26:22despise it
26:23they're not
26:23outraged by
26:24sin but
26:24they're kind
26:26of in the
26:26middle where
26:26they kind
26:27of have
26:27one foot
26:28over here
26:28kind of
26:28another one
26:29over there
26:29they're really
26:32good at
26:33ministering in
26:33this area
26:33but when it
26:34comes to
26:34having patience
26:35for their
26:36spouse or
26:36their kids
26:37or whoever
26:39very poor
26:40at it
26:40and the
26:41reason they're
26:41poor at it
26:42is because
26:42they don't
26:42hate it
26:43you got to
26:45have the
26:46gift of
26:46hate
26:46you got to
26:47learn to
26:47hate
26:48friend
26:48and hate
26:50is one of
26:51the most
26:51wonderful
26:51gifts you
26:52can possibly
26:52have because
26:53if you don't
26:54hate something
26:54you will go
26:56back to it
26:57in extremes
27:01the bible
27:02calls it
27:02backsliding
27:03in a further
27:04extreme
27:04the bible
27:05calls it
27:06being an
27:07apostate
27:08but skipping
27:10those
27:10just
27:13normal
27:13interaction
27:14in life
27:14your family
27:17your church
27:17your friends
27:18your work
27:19school
27:20is going
27:23to be
27:23damaged
27:24spiritually
27:24if you
27:26don't
27:27despise
27:27that
27:29which is
27:30perverted
27:31or evil
27:32you've got
27:34to ask
27:35God to
27:35get this
27:36gift
27:36it's not
27:38going to
27:38come to
27:38you naturally
27:39hey look
27:40now I
27:41really hate
27:42the devil
27:42and evil
27:43just fell
27:43in my
27:44head
27:44nine times
27:45out of ten
27:46it doesn't
27:46work like
27:47that
27:47the person
27:47has to
27:48pray

27:50for this
27:52gift
27:52of hate
27:52and the
27:54ability
27:55to abhor
27:56that which
27:57is
27:57evil
27:59people

28:03naturally

28:04in sin
28:04and in
28:06Christianity
28:07today
28:07particularly
28:07here in
28:08America
28:08there's so
28:09much
28:09compromising
28:10of your
28:10faith
28:11so much
28:12compromising
28:13of your
28:13lifestyle
28:13it's just
28:15epidemic
28:17here
28:17it's
28:18epidemic
28:19so people
28:22run around
28:23all these
28:23kooky
28:24preachers
28:24now this
28:25thing has
28:26gotten so
28:26out of
28:26hand
28:27it's
28:27amazing
28:28to me
28:28kundalini
28:30demons
28:31are sweeping
28:31the United
28:32States
28:32now
28:32if you
28:33go on
28:33YouTube
28:33people
28:34are raising
28:34their
28:34hands
28:35and 50
28:36people
28:36fall
28:37over
28:37they
28:40raise
28:40their
28:40hands
28:40and people
28:41drop on
28:41the floor
28:42and start
28:42manifesting
28:43demons
28:43and they
28:43think it's
28:44the Holy
28:44Spirit
28:45I mean
28:46the kundalini
28:47demons are
28:48beating the
28:50stuffing out
28:51of us
28:51they're dragging
28:53us through the
28:53streets
28:54and they're
28:54laughing while
28:55they're doing
28:56it
28:56you know
28:58the minister

29:01coat off
29:01and swings
29:02it at

29:03they all
29:04start falling

29:05this group

29:07everybody
29:07falls down
29:08laughing
