00:00Alright, I'm sorry, but the power of the coupon compelled me.
00:03Here's your spooky spot on the Exorcist Video Collector Box.
00:26And what a fitting time to be joined by the spooky candle as well.
00:29I did grab another one of these Video Case Collector Boxes at my local Spirit Halloween store.
00:34I know some people would look at these and think, what suckers out there buying these?
00:37This sucker right here.
00:39I have myself quite a considerable stack.
00:41Let's just reach to the side here and grab in the ones we currently have looked at over the years.
00:45I've got Child's Play 2, I've got Terrorfire, I've got Trick or Treat, and I've got It.
00:50All of these have something in common.
00:51Yes, they are overly expensive, but the fact that they're also collector's cases,
00:55that they look like old clamshell-cased movies.
00:57But there's more. It's not just the case that you're looking at.
01:00Let's move these ones over to the side here.
01:02The collector's case does also have collectible items inside.
01:06Six items, in fact, for one great price.
01:09The price, you may be asking yourself, well, how much did you spend for this?
01:12Online on Spirit Halloween's site, they sell for $14.99.
01:15I think when I bought these in store, they were kind of more close to $16.99.
01:20But essentially what you're really getting, though, is a collector's reproduction of old VHS clamshell case featuring, in this case, The Exorcist.
01:28Spirit home video at the top corner.
01:30We've also, of course, got the old sticker of horror.
01:33And right here, it's also got reversible package art.
01:36So if you don't like really the idea that it has all these things that tell you that they're not the real thing,
01:40you can just simply open up the case, obviously, flip around the insert, and it would look more like an actual VHS cover.
01:48On the back, though, it's loosely based on actual events.
01:50The Exorcist is a spine-chilling tale of terror that haunt the McNeil family
01:54as they unexpectedly force the face, a dark and demonic natural force.
01:58When the young 12-year-old daughter of actress Chris McNeil begins to show signs,
02:03a horrifying and unexplainable illness, both doctors and psychiatrists are baffled.
02:07Soon, young Reagan McNeil is making strange noises, experiencing violent outbursts,
02:13and undergoing unnatural physical changes, which lead Chris to a desperate and frightening conclusion,
02:19her daughter's possessed by an evil spirit.
02:22There is, of course, the rest of this, too, but we're not going to spend the time to go through this.
02:25I do actually like at the bottom, though, of the case, it says,
02:27Be kind, remember to rewind.
02:30It does come included, though, with a patch, a 1.5-inch button, a decal, two decals, two buttons,
02:35and a lanyard there as well.
02:37Well, is that worth really the $16?
02:39Maybe not.
02:40Probably not.
02:41But again, like, seeing as I've kind of made this a tradition that every single Spooky Spot season,
02:45I have collected these VHS covers.
02:47I've actually picked up one more as well, and it's probably likely, a good likelihood,
02:51I'm going to be going back and getting more of these again.
02:52Even, like, the candle doesn't have anything to say.
02:55Normally, he'd be just shimmering away, but he even thinks to himself, like,
02:58why would you have wasted the money?
03:00One thing that's kind of cool, too, is that if you open up the case,
03:02what you'll find inside is a reproduction of a VHS tape, although it's not something you can stick
03:08inside of a VCR.
03:09Don't try to...
03:09I would think, though, it's probably the exact same size as a VHS tape, but if that goes inside
03:13the machine, the machine would just pop its wheels up, grind this all up, and then you'd
03:18have all the shredded cardboard sitting inside.
03:20While we set this to the side...
03:22Actually, I did want to show you guys what the reversible cover art looks like here.
03:25I think I've done this for the most part with all of these.
03:28Oh, maybe it's...
03:28I didn't.
03:30But we're just going to pull this all out.
03:31And generally, what you get with the insert, if I don't rip this, is that the insert will
03:35look exactly the same.
03:36So this is the way it looks like in the store.
03:39If you flip it around, though, it basically just does away with all these other things
03:43that just tell you it's a collectible and not so much a VHS.
03:45So we flip this around.
03:47Let's put it back the way that I would have had this.
03:50And if you're asking yourself, does this guy actually display these on the shelf?
03:53I do.
03:53I don't pretend at all to think that these are actually real VHS, nor do I try to convince
03:59my friends that these are VHS tapes either.
04:01But I do like the idea that they sit on a shelf and they look like the old days of strip
04:05plaza video stores.
04:06So there's the cover.
04:08There's the case.
04:09Let's actually open up inside the VHS and see what's going on inside.
04:12So we've got the Exorcist.
04:13We've got a few little decorative label decals.
04:16On the top there, we've also got widescreen letterbox version and the Exorcist collector's
04:21box, which in this case runs 120 minutes.
04:24I would think, though, that Spirit Halloween has done the due diligence to look online and
04:28see if the movie actually runs for 120 minutes.
04:30I feel like it would be longer.
04:31I'm not going to cement myself and write myself by saying that that is true.
04:35Something I'm sure could probably tell me if that's not the case.
04:37So let's go ahead and open this up and see exactly what we wasted our money on.
04:43I'm not going to...
04:43Should I pull everything all out at once?
04:45Maybe no.
04:46We'll pull out one thing at a time.
04:47So the first thing that we're going to get inside these cases, and I think they're pretty
04:51much consistent with every other case that we've looked at here.
04:54Get a lanyard.
04:55You get your buttons.
04:55You get your patch.
04:57So for the lanyard, you've got yourself the Exorcist.
04:59Now on home video.
05:01On the back of it, you also have the exact same.
05:04You get a rubber piece as well.
05:06This is the Exorcist.
05:06Nice, flimsy, flexible rubber.
05:09And of course, you also got yourself the lanyard strap or cord that has the Exorcist
05:13all around that as well.
05:14This does detach too.
05:16So you can just, you know, if you have an...
05:18I'm guessing if you have a big, giant, head-like little face from Dick Tracy, you just undetach
05:23this.
05:23Detach this and just wrap this around your head that way.
05:25And that just snaps back in place.
05:28So again, like, is it really worth it just on the lanyard alone?
05:31Probably not.
05:31But I mean, I don't think it's going to really increase the value of this, the demand for
05:36this just by everything else I'm going to be pulling out.
05:38But we also got a lanyard.
05:40So we're going to put that off to the side.
05:41Let's see what else is delved in deep inside the case.
05:45We've got...
05:46Is that everything?
05:47No, okay.
05:48There should be a couple more things.
05:49We've got a patch.
05:51I would guess that that would be Regan.
05:53Regan there.
05:53You just sew that onto your denim jacket.
05:56Oh, I haven't rocked the denim jacket in God knows how long.
05:59Maybe like two years.
06:01I was going to say 20 years.
06:02About two years.
06:03Last two years.
06:04Two years ago, I would have rocked the denim jacket last.
06:07But this certainly could then be sewn on.
06:09It's an embroidered.
06:10Threads are highly prone to melting.
06:12So the idea, of course, is you're going to be putting this on your material.
06:14You put something over top of this and then you run your iron.
06:17Make a few passes.
06:18If you were to really follow the correct instructions, preheat an iron for five minutes on high setting.
06:23Pre-iron your garment where you have the patch...
06:24Where you're going to be placing the patch and then place down the patch.
06:28Place a lightweight pressed cloth over the patch.
06:31Press firmly and back and forth motions, as I'm indicating right now with my hands, for around 40 to 45 seconds.
06:38Turn the piece out and with the back and forth motion, iron back to the side and for the patch, about 45 seconds while pressing firmly.
06:46Move that off to the side.
06:47What else do we have here?
06:48We've got some stickers.
06:50Decals, to be more exact.
06:52I mean, decals really is just a more polished way of saying stickers.
06:57Is there really a difference between a decal and a sticker?
06:59Experts in the sticker realm could probably be able to tell me correctly.
07:02But you get yourself a poster.
07:05I do, again, like the idea.
07:06It says, now available on home video down below.
07:09And again, you would just peel off the back.
07:11I really think, though, when it comes to larger stickers like this, there are some stickers that don't half the back.
07:16Where, like, you'd be able to pull one side and then pull off the other.
07:19A lot of times they ask you to peel off the entire thing.
07:23Why is that?
07:24Why give me the extra work of doing that?
07:26And then, of course, you've got a larger version of Reagan.
07:29It says, Mother, what's wrong with me?
07:31The various stages of Reagan's, you know, downward spiral into the depths with the devil.
07:39And again, does this have?
07:40Yes, it does.
07:41Half down the middle.
07:41So you just peel off both sides.
07:43And again, you can stick that on something.
07:45Don't stick it on the case.
07:47If you have yourself a sticker book.
07:48Stick it on something that, obviously, if you change your mind down the road, you're not going to have to worry about ripping it off a wall.
07:53Ripping it off the dog's face.
07:55Don't stick stickers on the dog's face, please.
07:59The last thing that we have inside our case here is, I would imagine, a couple of buttons.
08:03And the buttons that we have require me opening up the baggie here.
08:11We've got two of them.
08:12One says, I'm not Reagan, the exorcist.
08:16Oh, is she eating pea soup?
08:19And then the other one says, what an excellent day for an exorcism, the exorcist.
08:25These, I feel, sort of are more phoned in.
08:27I feel like they could have done maybe a better job of this.
08:29Had they, say, taken a picture of Pazuzu.
08:33Maybe a picture of Pazuzu.
08:34Put them on the pins.
08:35That would have been a little bit cooler.
08:36These, though, I don't feel work as well.
08:39I mean, if anything, what an excellent day for an exorcism.
08:42This looks more like something like a Tubi movie I'd see online and immediately turn off right away.
08:48All in all, though, again, I know the value of these.
08:50They're probably generally not worth it.
08:52People looking at this would just think to themselves, oh, man, this guy wasted his money again.
08:56Yet another year.
08:57Yet another wasting of money to get these stupid, pardon my French, these stupid VHS video collector's cases.
09:02But what we did get, though, inside, we got a couple of pins.
09:06We did get some stickers.
09:07And I got to say, like, the stickers are kind of making up for the inferior-looking pins, honestly, that we did get.
09:13But we've got some pretty neat-looking stickers.
09:15This one I really like.
09:16This one I also really like as well.
09:18And we also got ourselves a lanyard with, of course, the additional exorcist rubbery piece on the back of that.
09:24And we also got ourselves a patch.
09:26Now, obviously, you can put all of these back in the case when you're done with it.
09:29I think the sell of this, too, is the fact that you get inside a VHS tape where, like, all the contents are stored inside.
09:36Anything that I don't end up using, I tend to put back in the VHS tape.
09:40And then I put back in the case and I have them displayed that way.
09:43So if there ever be a time that I want to get, like, a lanyard of Child's Play 2 or I want to get, like, a sticker from Terrifier,
09:49I just go to the case on my VHS shelf and just pull out the case that way.
09:53Do they look enough like VHS tapes?
09:55I do think yes.
09:56I mean, like the old days of the clamshell cases, I think that's kind of cool.
09:59I also really like, and again, they've done it this year, is that you can take out the insert and you can flip it around.
10:05So, like, for example, did I do this?
10:07See, I didn't do it with it.
10:08It, I still have six items for one great price.
10:11I think, in fact, maybe I have flipped them all back around.
10:15But I generally, though, I think I probably flipped these around in preparation of doing the review for the Exorcist.
10:20Likely, though, I'll be going back.
10:22I have to now do it four other times.
10:23Take the insert out, flip it around so it looks a little bit more like a VHS clamshell case.
10:29What do you guys think of these?
10:29Let me know down below in the comments section.
10:31Total waste of time.
10:32Total waste of money.
10:33Or are you guys actually into collecting these also as well?
10:36This year I did notice that while they did bring back the Terrifier and Child's Play 2,
10:40they had a few others that were exclusive, I think, to this year.
10:44One being Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, and they also did have a Frankenstein.
10:49And, again, I just want to stress this, too.
10:52I picked this up with a little nudge of a 20% off coupon that just happened to drop recently on social media.
10:57That 20% off coupon I will be using to its full extent all through the course of whatever time that's left on that coupon.
11:05I'll be probably picking up a few other spooky-related things that we'll be looking at during the month of Spottober.
11:10But, again, what do you guys think of these?
11:11Let me know down below in the comments section.
11:13If you guys, in the meantime, did enjoy this video now, do it a solid, throw it a like.
11:17If you guys want to stick around for more so.
11:18And I certainly hope so.
11:22We're going to certainly have a lot more spooky spots coming your way for the rest of this month.
11:25So I hope you guys are going to be coming back for those.
11:27As always, guys, thanks for watching.
11:29See you guys next time.
