00:04has been the hiring of Marco Sturm,
00:06who many anticipate to be a defensive-minded head coach.
00:08So to that point, what have you noticed about Marco,
00:11be it how he runs his camps, the defensive structure,
00:15whatever they're trying to build there,
00:16does it feel like it's starting to take shape in terms of defensive identity
00:20and how important those players are going to be for this team?
00:23I still think it's a work in progress, to be honest with you,
00:26in terms of the defensive structure.
00:29So we started last year saying that if this team's going to win,
00:33they have to be really strong in net and defensively, right?
00:38And that was just not the case from day one last year.
00:42They weren't good defensively.
00:44You had a couple guys individually struggling.
00:46They weren't good in net.
00:48Everything just kind of snowballed, and it was not good.
00:51It led to the firing of Jim Montgomery.
00:54They got a little bit better under Joe Sacco early,
00:56and then it kind of reverted back to, you know, the way that it was,
01:00and then some injuries occurred, and, you know, it just snowballed.
01:03It just rolled downhill, and it was ugly last year.
01:06So, you know, a lot of optimism coming into this year,
01:10but it has to start with the defensive structure.
01:12So he's changed a few things.
01:13Marco Sturm has defensively, whether it be in the neutral zone
01:17or on the defensive side of things.
01:19It's not as much of a zone, for lack of a better word, that they used to play.
01:27It's a little bit more of a hybrid defensively.
01:30So we haven't seen that in a while, and a lot of teams are doing it.
01:33So there's some things that still have to kind of gel defensively for me anyhow.
01:40I've seen a couple of breakdowns here and there that, you know,
01:43guys are kind of in between on when to go and when not to go.
01:45So they're going to work on that.
01:47I think you're going to see pretty much a full lineup today
01:49or pretty close anyhow.
01:51And, you know, last tune-up game before it starts for real on Wednesday.
