New Spotify features that you might want to try out!
Transcript
00:00Spotify made some big announcements this week about some collaborations I want to tell you about.
00:05So, first of all, they're teaming up with artists for a new reserved ticket sales system
00:11that will basically set aside concert tickets for premium subscribers and huge fans of certain artists.
00:18Okay.
00:18So, here's how it works.
00:19It'll start this summer.
00:20There will be a select number of artists.
00:23We don't know who they are yet.
00:24And they'll be able to use this reserved system to identify their most dedicated fans.
00:31If you are considered one of those, the artist will put a pair of tickets aside for you.
00:38They'll notify you, and you'll have a day to decide whether or not you want to buy the tickets.
00:42Wow.
00:43Spotify hasn't confirmed which artists they're working with yet or, you know, like how many or anything.
00:49Right.
00:49But that is coming, which if you're a huge fan, like the artists want you.
00:54So, it makes sense that they're able to put these tickets away for you.
00:58That's so smart.
00:59So cool.
01:00The other collaboration that Spotify is doing right now is that they teamed up with Universal Music Group
01:05to launch a new tool that allows you to create your own covers and remixes of your favorite songs
01:12from any of the participating artists and songwriters.
01:15That is so sick.
01:17That is pretty sick, yeah.
01:18So, it's AI generated.
01:21It'll be a paid add-on for Spotify premium users.
01:25A date for this launch hasn't been given yet.
01:27And I know you might be thinking, like, why would I be talking about Spotify when we work in radio
01:32and it's a competitor?
01:34But let me just explain the difference, right?
01:36I have a Spotify account.
01:37I love to listen to my albums and my make playlists and all the things like normal people do, right?
01:42Right.
01:42But you are never going to get live and local on Spotify.
01:45Oh, my gosh, yeah.
01:45You are never going to get personality when you're just listening to that music.
01:49You're never going to find out about what's going on in the world, get the little inside track on artists
01:55and all the things.
01:56Well, Andy, it's the same thing, in my opinion, as going out and buying your favorite artist's CD.
02:02Absolutely.
02:02Like, if you want to go front to back on that album, do it.
02:05We encourage it.
02:06We encourage it.
02:06If that's your favorite artist, go for it.
02:08I'm with you.
02:09I'm a Spotify person because that's sometimes what I need in my music life because if we were to do
02:15that, no one would be listening to the radio.
02:17But you're right, Andy.
02:18Like, it misses that connection of people, too.
02:21I feel like when I'm listening there, sometimes I just want to know what's going on locally or know some
02:26events or, I don't know, know how to win some tickets or whatever it might be, right?
02:31Spotify does not have Andy Summers and her good looks either, so.
02:34Or Donnie, right?
02:36I appreciate that.
02:37You did owe me one.
02:38So, thank you for that.
02:41Wait.
02:42Are you just saying that or does she actually owe you one?
02:45Usually, we're both an owing of each other, I think.
02:48Yeah, probably.
02:49It goes back and forth.
02:50When you guys battle like brother and sister.
02:52Put it on my tab.
02:53We've lost track at this point.
