00:00I wonder when they made the mold, if they cured it in Dragonfire.
00:03Here's a look at the new Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Series, Cobra Commander with Combat Armor.
00:20New to the G.I. Joe Classified Series line, Cobra Commander with Combat Armor comes ready for adventure,
00:25with multiple points of articulation for high poseability.
00:28This Cobra Commander with Combat Armor figure contains seven character-inspired accessory pieces,
00:33including an alternate head to switch between human and serpent,
00:36three alternate hands, backpack, pet iguana serpentor, and weapon accessory.
00:40Oh, this figure did arrive pretty fast. I'm glad I paid for the Cobra Pogo postal.
00:44How about before we get a closer look at the Combat Armor Cobra Commander?
00:47Let's take the tape measure and see how tall the figure stands.
00:49You know, this was one I've really been interested in getting.
00:52Loved the original design of the Cobra Commander in his armor like this.
00:55I had the original vintage toy. I had the 25th anniversary of them.
00:59Unfortunately, I don't have either anymore.
01:00I'm glad to finally get a seven-inch scale of this guy and have him displayed with the rest of my Cobras.
01:05In the meantime, though, before we bring in those Cobras,
01:07the tape measure is first going to tell us that Cobra Commander, in the way that he is right now,
01:11stands six inches in height, working out to be a figure that's 15 and a half centimeters tall.
01:17You may not recognize the way that Commander looks right now,
01:19but you may have recognized the way he looked on this retro card release of him.
01:22Before, of course, he was infected by Cobra spores. He was once a man.
01:26He is certainly, though, quite the man, and when he scales in size,
01:29he's about the exact same size as that original retro card back.
01:32Let's bring in also Classified Series Destro.
01:35Why not as well? Let's bring in Dr. Mindbender.
01:38I don't think Dr. Mindbender ever appeared, though, in that five-part miniseries, Operation Dragonfire,
01:42which, of course, was the result of what changed Cobra Commander back to the way he is right now.
01:46And here's also what the figure looks like with a recently looked-at Cobra Viper.
01:50Oh, Butterfingers me. I forgot to take the backpack off the back of the Commander's torso.
01:54Luckily, though, Hasbro didn't forget to include the iguanized version of Serpentor.
01:58Don't bother looking it up. I don't think iguanized is an actual real word.
02:01In the series, though, the miniseries of Operation Dragonfire,
02:04the same fire that turned Commander from the snake to now the human version of himself
02:08was the thing that actually turned Serpentor into an iguana.
02:11Why, though, Dragonfire turned him into an iguana still is baffling to me.
02:16But I like the fact that they actually include this as one of the accessories.
02:19There's not really much left to identify that this would ever be really Serpentor.
02:23He doesn't even have his serpent crown.
02:24I know he transforms into an iguana, but what happens really to the rest of his armor?
02:29I was surprised to actually see that the iguana did actually have some posability to him.
02:33So these little tiny legs, as small as they may be, can actually move back and forth.
02:38Don't try to pull them out at all. You're only going to rip it off.
02:40Does an iguana grow back its limbs? I know a lizard does.
02:44Technically, an iguana is a lizard.
02:46I don't even want to just test the idea of ripping off limbs from lizards.
02:49The back of the legs also do move back and forth as well.
02:52There's no additional possibility. They could have maybe added a wire tail.
02:55But at the very least, the fact that we're even having a conversation about Serpentor as an iguana
02:59is a pretty cool side accessory.
03:02What's also a cool side accessory is this sidearm that goes on the side of his body.
03:05The sidearm is the exact same one that came included with the original vintage armored Cobra Commander.
03:12I remember it well.
03:13I actually do think, though, that the design of it is just a little bit different, but still pretty cool.
03:18I was kind of hoping, though, the clip would be removable.
03:20As yanking as I may do, you can't take it off. It's all one piece.
03:24Now, this can actually holster it on the side of his leg.
03:26You can also put it in his hands.
03:27He does already have out-of-the-packaging gripping hands, so you don't have to worry about swapping anything out.
03:33If you did want to, though, put it into the holster, it's really alarming, though,
03:36because if you look at the side of the holster, you would look at the gun, you'd look at the holster,
03:40you'd look at the gun, and you would think there's no real way that that would ever hold holster on the side.
03:45I was going to say sheath.
03:47But actually, though, there's a hole right here, and it's more than enough accommodating spaces
03:51to get the gun to holster in there.
03:53I mean, it does look a little out of place, like it doesn't actually belong there,
03:57but at least there is a storage space to hold that.
04:00And, I mean, there's no likelihood he's ever going to leave his gun behind.
04:04I mean, just the amount of space that that takes up.
04:06But again, like, you can put it on his body.
04:08It doesn't cause as much conflict with his waist rotating or the top of his torso.
04:13But if you happen to have his arms draped kind of parallel to his body,
04:16you'll always find yourself kind of clipping against the gun.
04:19The other thing, though, I forgot to actually take off, though,
04:21is the figure does come in clear with the backpack.
04:23Like, though, with the pistol, the pack was also something that was packed
04:26with the original figure as well.
04:28I think as a kid, though, I always tend to have the backpack this way.
04:31You can see, though, that it's awkward if you put it on Cobra Commander that way.
04:34I think the right way, though, really, is to have it this way around.
04:37Some nice silver is done to this.
04:39There's a little bit of marbling, but not to the point where it bothers me that much.
04:42Nice additional black is added there as well.
04:45I don't really like these little parts on the back of the pack.
04:48I wish the whole thing really was smooth.
04:50Adding this little bit of coarse texturing really is jarring for me,
04:53but it's only really something I'm going to see when I turn the figure around anyways.
04:57Turn the figure the right way, though.
04:58The figure does have, out of the packaging, two gripping hands.
05:02So you can take yourself the pistol, which I know is already getting in the way,
05:05and you can take the gun and put it into his hands, just like that.
05:09And he does also have himself a double hinge in the elbow,
05:12so he bends it quite really well.
05:14At his disposal, too, the dear Cobra Commander does also come in clear with some swappable hands.
05:18If you don't really like the look of having gripping hands on the ends of his forearms,
05:22consider maybe the idea that Commander instead comes in clear with a couple of closed fists,
05:26punching maybe for a gold-domed Destro,
05:29which was one of the redesigns in the Deke G.I. Joe series.
05:33The Deke G.I. Joe series was really more just a toy advertisement than anything else.
05:37I know you could really say the same for the Sunbow series,
05:40but the Sunbow series, at least, I felt, had good storylines.
05:43The animation was poor on the Deke series.
05:45I think also the storylines weren't really the greatest either.
05:48One thing that really was, if anything, the better thing about Deke,
05:51well, if anything could be said for it, being that it is a toy commercial,
05:54if you happen to have picked up the toys at the time that the series was out,
05:58you could see the series cartoon vehicles,
06:01and you could basically just look at the exact same things in your hands.
06:03What we will also put in the figure's hand as well, or more so on his neck,
06:08his figure does also come in clear with a swappable head.
06:10I know you're thinking, like, well, what's the difference between this one
06:14and the one that he currently has?
06:15Okay, well, let's go ahead and just take this off for a second.
06:18If you look at, really, the difference between the two Cobra Commander heads,
06:21the domes are exactly the same.
06:22It's really the eyes that are inside.
06:24If you look at the eyes on this one,
06:26this is actually Cobra Commander like he's still a serpent.
06:29So even though he has been transformed back into, like, a humanoid state,
06:33Cobra Commander still essentially is a skin man.
06:35He's a big, giant, snake-walking man.
06:38So, like, of course, his eyes should really reflect that as well.
06:41There's also, like, this one, if you want just more of the traditional Cobra Commander eyes underneath,
06:44or more kind of like the toy.
06:47I don't love this one as much.
06:48I like at least the nod that they gave it,
06:50but I really would have just preferred to have the figure with this head sculpt.
06:53I do like, though, that they gave us some options.
06:56One thing, though, that with both of them,
06:58you can see that he does have his little,
06:59I don't know if it was ever really a breathing tube or just a microphone.
07:03I would probably imagine it's more of a breathing tube.
07:06This would always be something that was frequently lost.
07:09I mean, to find yourself a vintage Armored Cobra Commander and not have this with it,
07:13I mean, a lot of times this would always be something that would be missing.
07:16Luckily, though, it doesn't seem like it's something that's going to fall off at all.
07:19Changing out the head is just a case of holding onto the torso,
07:23popping the head off the baldwain.
07:24And I noticed, though, when putting on the new head,
07:26you kind of have to put it on just a little bit and pop it down with your hand.
07:31But it does really require a little bit of exertion on your part
07:34to get that snapping onto the baldwain.
07:36Again, where we are now to where we were before.
07:39I like this.
07:40I just don't like it as much as this head sculpt here.
07:43Of course, with the Cobra helmet, as you can see,
07:45he still is representing Cobra.
07:46Big Cobra symbol there on the front.
07:48Sculpted in there, too.
07:48It's not just painted.
07:50And he has the colors, though, of matching blue,
07:51and he's got some reds in there as well.
07:53Mostly a silver armor.
07:56Again, I always really like to look at this Cobra Commander.
07:58I know a lot of people, nostalgic-wise,
07:59would generally gravitate more towards vintage Cobra Commander
08:02the way that he looks with a silver dome in the front.
08:05But for me as a kid,
08:06I always kind of liked the idea that Cobra Commander could go into battle.
08:09This was a Cobra that often fled.
08:11This was a Cobra Commander you could really imagine
08:12getting into the battlefield and battle the Joes himself.
08:15Again, the armor is really nicely designed.
08:17It looks just as much like the original toy,
08:19just much more scaled up.
08:20Silver looks good.
08:21You've got some nice black there in between.
08:23Obviously, all the parts that need to bend
08:25would be all the parts that he has,
08:26like an underarmor underneath.
08:28The red belt does look good as well.
08:31I don't know if you can actually see this, though.
08:32There's a tiny little snake symbol there on the front for his belt buckle.
08:36Nice little attention to detail.
08:37Yeah, of course, he does have the holster there on the side.
08:39The holster actually is more attached up to the top,
08:41so it shouldn't cause any issues when it comes to the figure's articulation.
08:45Speaking, though, of which,
08:46for the articulation of Cobra Commander,
08:47I guess we could kind of really remove the backpack,
08:50put that off to the side,
08:51and some nice finish there on the back there, too.
08:54Cobra Commander, in his combat armor,
08:55he does have a ball joint in his head,
08:57so it allows the head to, first of all, rotate all the way around.
09:00He can look down and up,
09:01and he can also move it back and forth as well.
09:03For his shoulders,
09:04now, the way that the shoulders work is
09:06you'll see that he's got these lifts on the sides.
09:08So I noticed it was really cumbersome,
09:11because, again, like the shoulder pads,
09:13the shoulder pads really only just allow the arm to hinge out this way.
09:16Had they only really attached,
09:18instead of the shoulder pad up the top,
09:20I think it would have probably made more sense to attach it onto his arm.
09:23Because, again, like,
09:24you can only really lift the shoulders up so much.
09:27I mean, it doesn't certainly allow for the arms to rotate all the way around.
09:29If you're going to try to do that,
09:30I feel like it's only going to rip the shoulder pad off.
09:33This, I think, again, really should have been here.
09:35It shouldn't have been in the torso.
09:37So there's a little limitations when it comes to that.
09:39I would really only really recommend bringing his arms out at 45.
09:42Anything after that,
09:43I think you're only just asking for trouble.
09:45And, again, you can also hinge it that way, too.
09:48The figure does have a bicep swivel.
09:50But, actually, before I should say that,
09:51the figure does also have a crunch to his shoulders,
09:54where he can bring his arms further forward and further back.
09:57Yeah, bicep swivel, he's got that there.
09:59The figure does also have a double hinge in his elbow,
10:00and the hands rotate all the way around.
10:02Upper torso is going to be on a very good ball joint.
10:05And lower from that,
10:06the figure does also have a ball joint in his abdomen area, too.
10:09The figure does have a swivel at the top of the thighs.
10:11Now, with, again, these legs, you can drop the legs down.
10:13So if you want to have them in a seated position,
10:15not that they would ever really release.
10:16Oh, there goes the legs.
10:17These would all...
10:18One leg always pops off frequently for me.
10:21It always happens to be this leg over here.
10:23What I was going to say, though,
10:25if you happen to have yourself the ballistic battle ball
10:27or the Cobra Pogo,
10:29boy, I would love to see them release a Cobra Pogo.
10:31Even if it's just a HasLab release,
10:33I would love to get a Cobra Pogo.
10:35I might be the only one that actually thinks that way.
10:37Other than just, again, like the one issue with the legs,
10:39the legs do normally drop down.
10:41You can pop them back up in place as well.
10:43The whole idea, really, is if you bring them down,
10:45you can get them in more of a seated position.
10:47Unfortunately, though, with this amount of armor there
10:49on the top of his thigh,
10:51bringing the leg any further forward
10:52is probably the thing that causes the leg
10:54to pop off the ball joint.
10:55As again, it always happens on this one side over here.
11:00The legs I did notice, though,
11:01were a little loose out of the packaging.
11:03I don't think a lot of it at all has to do
11:04with just the fact that it pops off the ball joint.
11:06I think it just was naturally loose
11:08getting it out of the packaging.
11:09So over there at the top of the thigh,
11:10the figure does also have a double hinge on the knee.
11:13He's got ankle articulation, of course,
11:15and he does also rock back and forth.
11:16No, no, the figure doesn't have any toe articulation.
11:19I don't think...
11:20Do any of the Classified Series figures
11:21have toe articulation, for that matter?
11:23The only one thing, again, with Cobra Commander
11:25is this ball joint right over here.
11:27Now, if you happen to have this figure for yourself,
11:29one thing I would certainly say, though,
11:31is if you ever have the leg to pop off,
11:32just bring the ball joint down as low as you can get it.
11:35It might make things a little bit easier.
11:37Leverage the leg a little bit better.
11:39It might be the easiest way to get the leg back in place.
11:42I like the look of Cobra Commander quite a bit.
11:44You know, again, like whatever your feelings may be
11:46for Armored Cobra Commander,
11:47I know, again, a lot of people really kind of like
11:49the OG look to Cobra Commander,
11:50and there is also options available for that guy as well.
11:53There's the retro card release of the deer Cobra Commander,
11:57but let's also bring in Serpentor.
12:00I never got the Classified Series Serpentor.
12:01Kind of really strange.
12:03I think it was one of those figures
12:04where I just missed the time that he came out,
12:06and now I'm trying to get my hands on Serpentor.
12:09He's just going for stupid, stupid money.
12:11Luckily, though, Combat Armor Cobra Commander
12:13isn't going for stupid money.
12:14He was just released,
12:15and he's going for about the price
12:16of what you normally would pay for a Classified Series,
12:19like the $35 to $45 price,
12:21speaking here as a Canadian collector, obviously.
12:23Certainly well worth it, though.
12:25If you grew up loving...
12:27If you loved the Deke G.I. Joe cartoon series,
12:30which wasn't nearly as good as the Sun Bows series.
12:33Again, it was good as a toy commercial.
12:35It wasn't certainly good for the storyline or the animation.
12:37I always think that the Sun Bows series
12:38had the Deke series beat
12:40when it came to the animation style.
12:42The one thing it did introduce, though,
12:44was not only Operation Dragonfire
12:45and Slaughter's Marauders,
12:47but it also introduced ourselves
12:49in Armored Cobra Commander.
12:50I like to look at him in the cartoon.
12:52I like to look at him in this vintage figure,
12:54the 25th anniversary line,
12:56and now we're finally getting here
12:57in the Classified Series.
12:58He looks the part.
12:59He fits the part.
13:00He's a perfect-looking Armored Cobra Commander.
13:01I don't think in the state
13:03that Serpento's in right now,
13:04he's going to be commanding much of anything.
13:06Now that, of course, he's out of the way,
13:08Cobra Commander can rightfully
13:09take his place again to rule over Cobra.
13:11Interesting, though,
13:12that with the Classified Series
13:13of Cobra Commander,
13:14he's actually called Combat Armor.
13:16Yet with the original vintage,
13:17and I even believe in the 2008,
13:1925th anniversary of Battle Armor Cobra Commander,
13:22he was called Battle Armor,
13:24not Combat Armor.
13:25Are we downgrading the importance
13:27of battling?
13:28Maybe, like,
13:29they don't want to really push the idea
13:30that Cobra Commander's battling anybody.
13:32Combat seems a little bit more tamer.
13:34He's not getting into battle,
13:35but he's ready for combat.
13:37Ready for combat as well,
13:38that he also has a side-holstered firearm,
13:41which is rather interesting, though,
13:42because it looks a lot more like the vintage toy
13:43that also had the black gun.
13:46Actually, though,
13:46in the 2008, 25th anniversary of Cobra Commander,
13:49that Battle Armor release of him
13:50actually had a larger silver gun.
13:52It looked completely out of place.
13:54I like that they actually took the cues
13:56more from the original vintage toy,
13:57and not from the 25th anniversary of Battle Armor.
14:00Sorry, Combat Armor Cobra Commander.
14:03What do you guys think of Combat Armor Cobra Commander?
14:05And do you think it's weird
14:05that they changed the name
14:06from Battle Armor to Combat Armor?
14:08Like, really, what's the difference?
14:09The difference is, though,
14:10he's a lot taller of a Cobra Commander,
14:12and he certainly is a cool-looking figure.
14:14You like the look of him?
14:15You always like the guy
14:15and look more of the retro Cobra Commander
14:17with, like, the blue helmet
14:18and the silver visor?
14:20Do you like the look of this character?
14:21Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:23And did you also like the Cobra Pogo?
14:25Always when I really think of Battle Armor Cobra Commander
14:27or Combat Armor,
14:28I always think of the Cobra Pogo,
14:31which is one of those accessories,
14:32one of those vehicles,
14:33that in the comics,
14:34especially in the advertisements online,
14:36they always advertised Cobra Commander
14:38as having the Pogo,
14:39yet I don't think it ever really appeared
14:40in the Deke comic,
14:42or the Deke G.I. Joe series.
14:44In the meantime, though,
14:45if you guys did certainly enjoy this video,
14:46you can do it a song, throw it a like.
14:48You guys want to stick around for more?
14:49So, I hope so.
14:50I hope so.
14:51We're not going to be doing any more G.I. Joes this week.
14:53Oh, says the crowd in the background.
14:55Hey now.
14:56But there will be more video content coming your way.
14:58That's always a promsies.
14:59So, as always, guys,
15:00thanks for watching.
15:01See you guys next time.
15:02See you guys next time.
