00:00All right, 888-957-9570 is the number.
00:04Let's do it.
00:05You woke up today.
00:06What's the first thing that comes to your mind?
00:08Other than like, oh, my head.
00:10How about let's go to Connor in San Leandro.
00:14Hi, Connor.
00:14Thanks for the call.
00:15What's up?
00:17Hey, thanks, guys.
00:18And congratulations to your son, my man.
00:20Thanks, man.
00:21Yeah.
00:22That's a great Thursday, Friday.
00:24What a great combo for you.
00:25So, listen, I feel like after the incredible Collins peanut punch,
00:31we had basically the most conservative play calling that we could see
00:35from Kyle Shanahan.
00:36We had McCorkle for his QB run.
00:39You had McCaffrey for a run, McCaffrey for a run, then a punt.
00:42And I have heard so much criticism of our coach about how conservative he is.
00:48And if you think that conservative play calling,
00:51that there's just no place for it in the NFL,
00:53well, today is the day to say that with your chest.
00:56Say it on a day when we win.
00:59Otherwise, you just don't like losing in the Super Bowl like the rest of us,
01:03and you want to blame the coach, Kyle Shanahan, who helped to get us there.
01:07The other Kyle Shanahan moment that I do want to also point out,
01:10I remember the regular season last year where Sean McVay got one up on him,
01:15and when the coaches went to go shake hands,
01:18you got McVay there rubbing Kyle Shanahan's hair.
01:21Like, ah, I got you, you're my son.
01:23And you look at what Shanahan did last night.
01:27It was all class.
01:28It was all under-the-arm hug.
01:31And at the end of the day, the guy who's classy when he wins,
01:34that's the real father figure.
01:36So with those two points, just want to say, incredible job, Niners,
01:40and hopefully Kyle Shanahan gets his flowers for more than just one night.
01:44Connor, thanks, man.
01:45And, like, it's kind of funny, the McVay and Shanahan interaction,
01:50I don't want to claim to be an expert on this.
01:52I don't really know, but I think we assume.
01:54They coach together.
01:55They know each other really well.
01:58I think they're boys.
01:59Absolutely.
01:59So, like, I don't really like if somebody rubbed somebody's head last year.
02:02I don't even remember that.
02:04But, sure, like, I don't know what their dynamic is.
02:06I did see them before the game last night with a lengthy conversation
02:09that was filled with laughter and smiles.
02:11Of course.
02:12So they're boys, and I don't even mind that.
02:15If you take your boy down, pat him on the head.
02:18It's funny.
02:18No doubt.
02:19That's how we do it.
02:19I just want to follow up that call with this fact,
02:23and hopefully the people who are not Shanna Stans but Shanna Haters,
02:27they were three for three last night on fourth down.
02:30So he has changed.
02:31Everybody wants him to be less of a kitty cat and more of a dog,
02:35and you got more dog in him now.
02:37One time it was inside his own 40.
02:39Right.
02:40And so fourth down, he has got a lot more cojones, chutzpah,
02:45whatever you want to prefer as your vehicle for giving him his flowers.
02:49But three for three on fourth down,
02:51and he's out there doing things that I think he didn't used to do.
02:55Look, this is where we get caught up.
02:59We get caught up in, yeah, but he didn't know the rules of overtime.
03:05Do you understand?
03:07Sean McVay screwed up last night.
03:09Like, everybody screws up.
03:13Everybody tries to call a play that sometimes proves to be the wrong play.
03:19Everybody drafts the wrong guy sometimes.
03:23Everybody does that.
03:25Don't get caught up.
03:28You have a great, great is the word I used, coach.
03:37And I have fought this fight for many years on these airwaves.
03:41Yep.
03:42And I know that most of you know.
03:44And there's no problem with getting frustrated in moments.
03:47And there's no problem with questioning certain moments.
03:50There's no problem with criticism.
03:51He's a big boy.
03:52He can take it.
03:53But for every one of you who has taken that to a spot one time or another,
03:59where you think he needs to be fired, or the 49ers, remember last year when
04:03we need to hire Ben Johnson and get rid of this Kyle Shanahan guy.
04:08All of you need to be on timeout.
04:12You have a great, great head coach.
04:17He's not perfect, but no one is, right?
04:19No one is.
04:20I'd trade him for no one.
04:22And those of you who share, and I don't even know if I buy this fully, but I know a lot
04:27of people do.
04:28You think he's capable of making any quarterback good.
04:32And if you think that, I would argue he's the best coach who's ever lived.
04:36Well, Mac Jones is 3-0.
04:37Mac Jones is a guy who is basically one more bad stop away from not being in football.
04:43And I'm going to make this prediction, and you can lock it up.
04:46At the end of the year, either he gets traded for a really high pick, or the Niners just give
04:52him a thank you and say, you can go be a free agent and not pick up his option.
04:56Mac Jones is going to be a starter somewhere next year.
04:58I'll take you on that bet.
05:00Mac Jones is Brock Purdy's backup next year.
05:02Yeah, I don't know about that.
05:03The Niners are seeing right now how important it is to have him.
05:07They're not going to let him go.
05:07Why would they let him go?
05:08You would trade him for a second-round pick.
05:10I wouldn't do it.
05:12What's more important next year, a second-round pick or a guy who can win some games if Brock
05:16goes down?
05:17Well, you can find the next guy who can come in and win some games because you're Kyle
05:21Shanahan.
05:21But that's dangerous.
05:22And if you're Shanahan, you couldn't do it last year.
05:24But you couldn't do it last year.
05:25But you could two years ago with Sam Darnold.
05:27You just didn't have to.
05:28Well, we don't even know that, actually.
05:29Right.
05:29We don't even know.
05:30We never saw it.
05:31And if you want to talk about coach criticism, here are the last two drives for the Rams.
05:36Pass, pass, pass.
05:37Pass, spike, pass.
05:39Field goal.
05:40Pass, pass, pass, pass, pass.
05:42And then you're going to run it on fourth and one.
05:44That was the play sequence.
05:46Listen, they all mess up.
05:48The only run that they had prior to that was when Williams ran it at the goal line and
05:52he got the ball punched out.
05:53That was the only previous time they ran it.
05:55Other than that, it was pass.
05:57So, fourth and one.
05:59Hey, Sean.
06:00Pass.
06:00Are you not watching what's going on?
06:02You're throwing it.
06:03You're catching it.
06:04They're not stopping you.
06:05I have an idea.
06:06Let's run it.
06:07Yeah.
06:07Where's Kelly Stafford?
06:09That play call was crazy.
06:12It was crazy.
06:12It was crazy.
06:14Thank you, Kelly.
06:15I thought the same thing.
06:17I was celebrating in that bar.
06:20And then afterward, I'm like, that was crazy.
06:23And it was.
06:24But it happened.
06:25And the Niners won.
06:26And what a night.
06:27What a night.
06:28Let's keep going.
06:29Portia in the city.
06:31Hi, Portia.
06:31Thanks for the call.
06:33Hi.
06:34Congratulations on Abe.
06:35I just wanted to say I was shaming all the Niners fans on Monday.
06:40They were saying we're going to lose.
06:41We're going to get obliterated.
06:43Have faith.
06:44Faithful.
06:44We are a dynasty.
06:45This is the San Francisco 49ers.
06:48I felt crazy watching that game.
06:50I've been growing up watching the Niners.
06:51It felt like one of the Joe Montana, Steve Young games.
06:55We were crying.
06:56My husband, the best husband in the world, was there with me watching it.
06:59My mom was praying for the 49ers.
07:02So, I just want to let everybody know.
07:04Don't count my guys out.
07:06Mack Jones was playing like Mack 10.
07:08Mack Jones was playing like a beast.
07:10The team was soldiering around him.
07:12I just want to let everybody know that the commentator before saying how football is the best.
07:18Football is the best.
07:19I wish I was born a boy so I could play.
07:21I love the sport.
07:22The 49ers give me hope every day.
07:25The 49ers make me want to play.
07:27Sometimes I wish I could run down there and sacrifice my body for a play.
07:30The defense was playing good.
07:31The Rodgers was playing good.
07:32Special teams.
07:34Everybody.
07:35But Mack Jones gave me the same feeling that Steve Young gave me.
07:39Brock Purdy doesn't do it for me, but I feel something with Mack Jones.
07:42Okay.
07:43I love it, Portia.
07:44Thank you, Portia.
07:45That, I think, is our first I wish I was born a boy call.
07:48Go ahead and rack that girl.
07:49Yeah.
07:50I mean, I've never heard that statement before.
07:53And I like...
07:53I wish I was born a boy so I could play.
07:56I love the passion.
07:57It's incredible.
