This episode was holiday themed for thanksgiving and it was pretty decent except for one particular scene that I will get into. But it was fun spotting all the different mascot parodies they had here as well.
00:00Welcome back, everyone. We are getting a Thanksgiving episode today with a good amount of mascot references, but I will talk about all of those in the discussion section of the video.
00:11I hope you all enjoy, so let's get into it.
00:14We start with Coop trying to rush through his training because it's Thanksgiving, and he starts to imagine the feast he's going to have.
00:22But he wasn't paying attention, and he ends up running through Saturn's rings, making a huge gap in them.
00:29Not really caring, he just says that they look better that way, and rushes off, not realizing he is bringing a few asteroids with him.
00:38Which one of them makes it to Earth, and it seemed to be a slime-like organism that was attached to the asteroid, or inside it.
00:49And it now wants to spread its spores and reproduce.
00:52Kiva likes the food that is traditionally prepared for Thanksgiving, but she asks Coop and Jamie what the holiday is for, and let's just say they have their own personal ideas of what it's for.
01:07We go back to the spore alien, which its name is Gynok, and it is trying to find a place to grow safely.
01:14Then when it starts to root down in a sewer opening, it gets stepped on by Magus without them even realizing it.
01:22So Gynok decides that it has to take Magus down to grow safely, and wants to wear the mascot balloons to become larger.
01:30The parade finally starts with both Coop and Jamie thinking about the types of floats they would enter.
01:36Coop of course imagines he would make a Mad Max type of float with a fire-breathing chicken.
01:42And Jamie imagines he would enter Magus, dressed up as the Joker, with Harley Quinn girls with him, and Coop as the driver.
01:51As the parade balloons go by, one of them starts to roar at Magus, and transform to a much more threatening design.
01:59With this being Gynok, who proceeds to attack Magus.
02:03Then we do get a funny joke from Coop, with a clever way of censoring it.
02:07Plant? Well how about I plant my foot and it's-
02:10Whatever the heck it is!
02:12But Coop is having a hard time beating it since it's so elastic.
02:17Coop eventually finds a weapon to freeze it and then shatter it, seemingly destroying it.
02:23And Coop being Coop ignores Kiva, saying she wants to analyze it.
02:27But it in fact did not die and proceeds to come back, taking the form of all the different parade balloons, and is now looking to destroy Magus, again.
02:38And they honestly beat Magus pretty good.
02:41Then, once they are satisfied, they begin to merge together, getting ready to spread itself across the whole planet, and into space.
02:49So Coop seeing that it wants heat, so it can grow more, overloads it on heat, making it explode, and finally killing it, for good.
02:58Finally finished with the battle, they make their way back home, with the ending credits showing that everyone actually loved the parade, and thought it was the best one ever.
03:09Which I would agree with, if I saw a giant robot beat up on the mascots on the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
03:16Alright, before we get to the mascots, let's look at the voice for Gynok.
03:22It was played by Darren Norris, who has also played Cosmo from Fairly Oddparents, Count Spankulot from the Codename Kids Next Door, J. Jonah Jameson from Spectacular Spider-Man, and Knockout from the Transformers Prime show.
03:39And there is not much to talk about with Gynok, since it's more of a plot device than anything else.
03:46It was cool in how it transformed the balloons, but that's really it.
03:51Now, let's move on to the mascot parodies, we see in the balloon floats.
03:56The aardvark is obviously a play on Sonic the Hedgehog.
04:00Then we had a Mario and Luigi parody, but with different colors.
04:05There was an orange and a banana, that looked exactly like the two main characters in VeggieTales.
04:10There was a cowboy duck, that I remembered looked very similar to Donald Duck in the same getup.
04:17And finally, there was a, what looks like a ferret or something, that looked a little like Sly Cooper, but it may just be me.
04:25I do have a major negative thing to say about a scene in the episode.
04:30And it is the weed whacker scene, because it went on for way too long, and it felt like they were padding out the episode with that scene.
04:40With the spattering effect not looking really that good either.
04:44And at the end of the scene, it didn't even matter, because it just healed from it.
04:49I also have a distinct memory as a kid, that for some reason, this scene made me nauseous, and have a headache, so that also soured me on this scene.
05:00But overall, the episode was good, and I did enjoy it, you know, except for that one scene.
