00:00Hey, right here on this program, that'd be the drive with Sterner and Hughley.
00:03Right around this time, we do a little stock up, stock down.
00:07Texans, of course, one and three, finally getting in the win column
00:10this past Sunday against the Titans, now heading into Baltimore for week five.
00:16And that's what we're talking with the stocks this week.
00:18Start with you, Clint Sterner, old Dirty Red.
00:21What is your stock down?
00:23I want to get the negatives out of the way first.
00:25Stock down for the Houston Texans heading into Baltimore for week five.
00:28I got a good one, and I feel pretty good about this.
00:30It's not easy to find a stock down after you go and you beat up on the lowly Tennessee Titans.
00:37But I got one that kind of dates back, I think.
00:40And this is great coming on the heels of the D'Amico Ryan's audio
00:43because he did exactly why I think this is why my stock down makes sense.
00:50I'm going to go with Tim Settle and Foley Fadakasi.
00:54If I'm Tim Settle and I'm Foley Fadakasi, I'm a big part of going out there
01:01and giving up 30 rushes for 169 yards to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
01:09No, it was Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
01:10Yeah, Tampa.
01:12And since then, Ron, it seems like all everybody wants to talk about is Tommy Toto.
01:19I mean, if you're a D lineman right now and you are of that group
01:24that was thought to be kind of of the first and second wave of defensive linemen
01:28to come in there, you have got to be.
01:31You have got to be fed up with Tommy.
01:35You got to be sick and tired of hearing about Tommy Togai and everything he does.
01:40He's always right.
01:41He does this right.
01:42Guess who we call on when we get ran through like messed through a goose?
01:46Guess who we call on?
01:48And Tommy, so I got to go with them top two guys, top three or four guys,
01:53if we're being honest.
01:54But Tim Settle and Foley Fadakasi, why ain't we talking about them boys
01:58when it comes to slowing down the run?
01:59Why ain't we talking about them boys when we're talking about hand placement
02:03and being where you're supposed to be and anchoring down
02:06and keeping from getting set in the lap of your linebackers?
02:09So I got to go stock down with them.
02:11I mean.
02:12You might want to go back and check that Tampa Bay book tape
02:15and you see why they're not talking about them boys.
02:17Well, no, I know.
02:18I got a good feeling why.
02:20I mean, D'Amico's all but telling us.
02:22But, boy, I tell you, man, their stock's got to be down
02:26because the other fellas' appears to be sky high.
02:30As I said, want to get these negatives out of the way first
02:33on a little stock up, stock down today on the drive.
02:36Sterner, Hughley, we just got Sterner's stock down for the Texans
02:40heading into week five.
02:41We're on the show, Hughley, stock down for you
02:44as you look at this Texans-Ravens matchup.
02:46Yeah, we talked about it a little earlier in the show.
02:50If you missed it, check it out at 2 o'clock.
02:52Mine is Christian Kirk.
02:56Again, you know, week one, you fool me one.
03:00I don't know now, whatever George said.
03:02But his impact is not at all what I thought it would be.
03:09You fooled me.
03:09We can't get fooled again.
03:10Thanks, George.
03:11And not at all what they need it to be, to be honest with you.
03:15And to me, there is nothing about Christian Kirk
03:20that would make me as a defensive coordinator feel like I need to loosen up
03:24any kind of coverage on Nico Collins.
03:28Now, hell, I guess if it's second and 33, I'll go man-to-man.
03:32Coverage bump and run here with no help behind me, but whatever.
03:35But there's nothing that is being done around Nico Collins
03:41that makes me scream, I need to loosen up coverage.
03:44And Christian Kirk, I will give some grace with the injury
03:48because hamstring, obviously, for him,
03:50there may be a mental thing to get over that, or he may be sore.
03:55Who knows?
03:56Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we see a more improved version of Christian Kirk
04:02that has more impact to the team.
04:03But right now, his impact is not at anywhere close to where they need it to be.
04:08The speculation?
04:09We got them negatives out of the way.
04:10You are listening to The Drive with Sterner and Hugh Lee every Wednesday,
04:14right around 3.30 p.m.
04:16Right now, right around this time, we do stock up, stock down.
04:19Now on to those positives, heading into Week 5 for the Texans.
04:23Sticking with you, Ron, the show,
04:25what is your stock up for the Texans as they head into Baltimore?
04:28Well, Tyler, there's a lot of places to go.
04:31Woody Marks seems to be the clear one.
04:33I see a lot of people texting that one in.
04:35But Clint mentioned him, and I told you, they have been struggling big time
04:44to find consistency up there, and it really came to a head in the Tampa game.
04:50And I'm certain Clint Tommy wasn't active for that game.
04:54He's now been active for the Jacksonville game and then the Tennessee game.
04:59And, you know, it's hard not to see 072 out there kind of making an impact.
05:06And it's weird.
05:08They talked about him so glowingly during training camp.
05:12It's almost a surprise that they said the first two weeks
05:15they weren't going to have him active.
05:16Now he's been active, and he has been.
05:20I think there's an argument to, you know, Edwards Jr., Tim Settle, Foley,
05:24all the guys you named up there, that he is the most consistent player up there.
05:28He actually gets a push from the inside on pass rush downs as well.
05:34He's been really good.
05:36And since this is stock up, stock down,
05:38I think his playing time is going to continue to rise with the way he's been playing.
05:43That's right.
05:44Stock up, stock down.
05:46Put a lid on this thing for us.
05:47Dirty Red, Clint Sterner, what is your stock up for the Texans heading into Baltimore, sir?
05:53I can't go with anybody but one man, and that is Dalton Schultz.
05:56The hell I gave this man, the expectations that are placed upon him
06:01when he came down 45 from Dallas to Houston, had a decent little first year,
06:06wet the bed last year.
06:09I mean, it was rough, and it was rough to start this year.
06:13It was rough at times in training camp to go out and execute the way he executed this.
06:20Every time I see a highlight or every time I turn the film back on to check something,
06:2486 jumps off, and the effort, the energy, the physicality, the want to, the no quit,
06:31all of that stuff is absolutely beautiful.
06:35And boy, does this team ever need it.
06:37Three of the top four tight ends, he being the fourth of the top guys,
06:41not fourth in order, but four tight ends with this team,
06:46him being the only one healthy, can't come out of the game, needs to stay in the game,
06:50the offensive line being retooled.
06:53He's a guy that needs to be the tip of the spear when it comes to showing extra physicality
06:58and being better than expected.
07:00Big, big, big weekend for Dalton Schultz.
07:03I don't know that his stock, for me personally,
07:05I don't know that his stock's ever been higher as a Texan.
07:08And listen, Clint, obviously we know D'Amico and Nick Caley and all of them,
07:14they watch the film, hell, more than we do, watch the tape more than we do,
07:19and know the player and see it.
07:20I think it's a clear thing we learned on Sunday, maybe even before that is,
07:28hey man, get this guy involved early.
07:30And then the other parts of his game, you know,
07:33I think he will show a level of interest in as well.
07:38And sometimes it looked like he didn't even seem to be interested in the physical part of the game.
07:44And then as you said, he did not a good job just for, you know, a Dalton Schultz.
07:49He did a good job from a tight end perspective in terms of setting the edge
07:53and then going and get guys.
07:55So get him involved in all ways.
