00:00In this week's edition of First Things First, I caught up with Hall of Famer Mike Smith.

00:10Big money, Mike. Winning your ring, Breeders' Cup Classic with your man, Bob.

00:14Yeah, ain't that something? I've been on the bench a while, but he finally pulled me off,

00:17and I hit a couple of threes for him, and things are going well, so maybe that'll carry over to Breeders' Cup.

00:24Hey, look, he just put me on this horse. I don't know if I get him back or not,

00:28but he's glad to fill in, if not, and hopefully I can ride him down the road.

00:32Tell me about your trip. Was that the trip you wanted? Did he get a bit gulky when you turned for him?

00:37Yeah, he did that, which gives me even a better feeling about him, because there's room to grow, right?

00:41I mean, when he gets more focused, he's going to be even better.

00:44I thought I'd be laying a little further back. They didn't go very quick early,

00:48and when I saw Breeders' Cup Ease Back, I said, well, I'm going after him because someone needs to,

00:54and Bob told me that this horse was doing exceptionally well, so when he tells me that,

00:58that usually means I can get brave a little earlier, so that's what we did.

01:21We're back racing on Friday, 1 o'clock post-time, 9 race card on Saturday,

01:2610 races along with 10 races on Sunday.

01:29We'll have five stakes on Saturday, four of them graded, the Grade 1 American Pharaoh,

01:35Grade 2 Rodeo Drive, Grade 2 Oak Leaf, and the Grade 3 Chillingworth State.

01:41So many reasons to come on out to Santa Anita, 1 o'clock post-time on Saturday.
