00:10this weekend in maryland let's bring in rob to break it all down and rob is going to be headed
00:16out there and i still love the pageantry regardless of what everyone is saying about
00:21the preakness i think it's going to be a fun race but we got to play the hits here as
00:25they say rob
00:26it is uh honestly very very unfortunate that yet again we're not going to see the horse that won
00:33the derby in the preakness i mean i can't sit here and pretend that that's not a big deal it
00:38is a big
00:38deal so does something have to change does something have to happen in horse racing to make these uh you
00:48know trainers and owners sign something saying hey if you win you know are you committed to the next
00:53race or are we just headed toward a scenario where the triple crown is no longer it's got to be
00:58one
00:58way or the other well you know it's funny because it wasn't really that long ago what 10 11 years

01:04that we had american pharaoh and justify do get the triple crown within like two years of each other
01:09right so it's it's doable it's not like it's been 100 years or 50 years like you know it had
01:15been a big
01:15amount of time between uh before american pharaoh did it but it's been done twice within the past 11 or

01:21years right so you know it is frustrating for the entire sport like the entire industry it's great
01:27to have a the derby winner go to the preakness interesting scenario this year with the preakness
01:32being at laurel for the first time and supposedly the only time with the new pimlico being built
01:38and ready for next year right um you know i think last year i think everyone had a tremendous
01:45feeling that sovereignty was a legitimate triple crown type horse i don't think that's necessarily
01:51the case this year with golden tempo right kudos to him the connections obviously the sherry devoe the
01:57first female trainer to win the derby has been caught on nationally and been a great story i don't really
02:03think that horse was a real triple crown contender to be honest with you so um you know i think
02:10at the
02:10end of the day i i think you will ultimately see some changes whether it's adding a third week
02:15between the derby and the preakness and then we have three weeks from the preakness to the belmont
02:20uh i know there's been a lot of talk out there about giving it a month between you know the
02:24first
02:24saturday in may first saturday in june first saturday of july that type of idea that would take
02:30you know these other tracks naira especially have to move around their other steak schedules the
02:36traverse stakes in august at saratoga which is considered the midsummer summer derby if you will
02:41uh but i think i think eventually the industry is going to have to do something so you know cdi
02:47buying the intellectual rights as we talked about a couple weeks ago for the preakness i think um
02:52might spur that conversation even more and the networks right nbc and and fox and those uh those
02:58networks covering the big races obviously they want the star horses there so i think they'll be a big part
03:03of it as well yeah i i mean look they they maybe they got to flip around you know these
03:08races to
03:09make the kentucky derby third or second i mean i i don't know that you can't do you can't do

03:14i'm getting crazy i'm getting crazy all about evolving tradition but you can't take that one
03:19away it's the first saturday you gotta be there all right well rob you never you never know in this
03:23world we live in i never thought there'd be i never thought there'd be 200 teams in the ncaa
03:27tournament but here we are too as well i never thought we'd have the nfl i never thought we'd have
03:32that nfl game the night before thanksgiving you know like i mean crazy things happen in sports
03:36don't don't discount it so golden i never thought i'd see my bengals playing in madrid spain either
03:41right that's true yeah there you go yeah yeah joe burrow finally can cheer all right so golden tempo
03:47is out renegade is not in this one either so i see that uh ocelli or selly got the second

03:55know uh did very well in the last uh race here so tell me who you like going into this

04:01naturally some new horse is going to participate well i will tell you uh sitting with several of
04:06my buddies on derby day uh i got an email we partnered with first racing they had a preakness
04:11future wager i'm not i'm not the biggest future wager person but i saw the horse uh taj mahal when
04:18the tesio stakes on preakness preview day at laurel and i told my buddies i said hey
04:23get down on this horse for the preakness right because i knew he loves laurel he's going to have
04:28home court advantage so we got we locked in on him at 24 to one in the previous future wager
04:32which is exciting considering in the morning line he's he's five to one my enthusiasm kind of waned
04:38a little bit when i saw he drew the one hole right that's not necessarily the best place to be
04:43in any
04:44uh starting gate and there is a ton of speed in this race right which he's going to be a
04:50part of so
04:51i still have him on there i think he's he's a super talented horse a lot of people don't know
04:56about
04:56him because he's run off three races in the moral but i think that's a great great opportunity for
05:02him incredible there's a ton of speed in the race he's the best closer i could see him flying up
05:08kind
05:08of just like golden tempo did in the derby and then iron honor chad brown's won this race twice
05:14same scenario for this horse and i think he'll be right there all right incredible it is for me on
