Justice Frank Seepersad believes Ramleela celebrations across the country can be a viable tourism product, but it needs to be better promoted.

He says the Hindu festival has grown locally in recent years and has positively fostered an increase in community togetherness.

Speaking on night-three of a ten-night Ramleela Celebration in Palmiste Park last evening, Justice Seepersad also encouraged people to take away from the festival’s teachings, the need to protect the environment.

00:49He says many of these Ramlila events are supported by communities and NGOs, but greater funding is needed.

01:24On Sunday during the FETI address, Justice Sipasad encouraged people to take from the message of Ramlila the importance of not only living in harmony with each other, but also with the environment.
01:37We are plundering and destroying our planet and all that Mother Earth has blessed us with.
01:47Climate change is real and the pollution of our air and water courses pose a clear and present danger.
01:58He says many continue to abuse the Earth, but even with small steps, it is vital we prioritize caring for the environment.
02:07As a country, we are dependent on fossil fuels to drive our economic viability.
02:13But we must consistently bear in mind that we need to adhere to the best practices when using fossil fuels and we must also embark upon a conscientious goal and objective of incorporating non-renewable and renewable energy sources into our daily lives.
