00:00Of course, you're formerly a falling in reverse, that's in the past, had a good run, but now
00:10it's time to take on and do your thing.
00:13Tell us about American Monster.
00:15American Monster.
00:17So if you could do a slow pushing right here.
00:21So American Monster has been a passion project of mine.
00:25I feel like it's something that the world needs, and I feel like every so many decades
00:32there's a genre or something like that, whether it be hair metal, grunge, nu metal, whatever
00:38today is, and I feel like something new needs to happen.
00:41I love this.
00:42I feel like every so often something really cool happens and then everyone goes, oh, that's
00:47really cool.
00:48And then the radio is just one long song of all the bands copying each other.
00:54And I kind of feel like that's happening right now in a way.
00:56With what?
00:57What's the artist?
00:58Like, give me the genre that's kind of saturating and vanilla-izing.
01:02I mean, you know what it is, you know?
01:04I know, I go with it every day.
01:05I'm trying to be very diplomatic here, Kill Pop.
01:07I'm trying to figure where your head's at.
01:08I'm trying to be diplomatic here.
01:11But yeah, it's a good sound, but I feel like a lot of bands fall victim to-
01:16The Nirvana syndrome.
01:18Yes.
01:19Like grunge.
01:20Yeah, it's like, this band rules, but I already heard this, you know?
01:25So it's like, I guess what I'm getting at is, in my younger days, I just wanted to be accepted
01:33as a musician, or I wanted to be accepted as like, oh, if this band heard my band, we
01:37could tour and blah, blah, blah, blah.
01:39And now it's like, nowadays, I just want to go the opposite f***ing direction, you know?
01:44I'm a huge fan of music, and I'm a huge fan of music from yesteryear.
01:50Yeah.
01:51You know, I feel like there was a pocket of time in rock and metal and pop culture, and
01:56you know, that whole like, late 80s, early 90s thing.
02:01And-
02:02Ooh, give me some bands, like-
02:04Ooh, Pantera, White Zombie, Prong, Motley Crue, Metallica, like there's, and I feel like
02:14other bands take different influences from those bands, and I'm finally doing what I'm
02:20taking from them.
02:22You know, like, I have a, I'm trying to create this world, and I finally get to start inviting
02:26people to it.
