00:00How did you learn to play?
00:01I got a classical guitar and then I went to this instructor and I walked in with some sheet music,
00:08Eddie Van Halen, but I wasn't that good.
00:10And my mom was just like, you know, you suck at trying to do Eddie, so write your own song.
00:15Did you learn theory?
00:16Yeah, I did. I learned all that stuff too.
00:18And how much are you into tuning?
00:20I'm a tuning freakazoid. I got a couple of lessons from Jimmy Page.
00:24He showed me how to tune the guitar any way you want it. You can create your own tuning.
00:28When you write a song like Blurry, do you know right away that that's a special song?
00:34Absolutely, yeah. That song used to be called Electron Moon.
00:38And then after a while, my bass player had written the blurry harmonic part on a bass.
00:44So I was like, hold on a second.
00:45And I just wrote all the lyrics and I jacked a couple of the lines from Electron Moon.
00:50So I just pieced those two together and then that would be Blurry.
