00:00Hello and welcome to the best money tips and news stories of the week.
00:04I'm Alex Nelson, jobs and finance specialist. Let's dive in.
00:15First up, good news for Claire's fans. Investment group Medela Capital has swooped in to buy 156
00:21stores, saving around a thousand jobs. The deal means Claire's will stay on our high streets,
00:26still offering affordable jewellery and accessories, plus its famous ear piercings.
00:31But it's not all rosy. 145 stores aren't part of the deal, so another 1,000 jobs remain at risk.
00:38Next, a new fashion face could be heading our way. Inditex, the giant behind Zara,
00:43is preparing to launch its budget brand Lefties in the UK, setting up a potential showdown with
00:48Primark. Lefties offers trendy, wallet-friendly fashion for men, women and kids, already popular
00:54in 18 countries. Stores are expected to open in 2026, in prime spots like Oxford Street and
01:00Westfield. Watch this space, Primark might finally have some competition. And finally, if you're
01:07looking to boost your income before Christmas, Royal Mail is hiring 20,000 seasonal workers.
01:12No experience needed. There are sorting and delivery roles across the UK, with thousands
01:18of positions in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Shifts are flexible, and with
01:23extra parcel hubs opening, it's the busiest time of year for posties, and a great chance to earn some
01:28festive cash. That's all for this week's roundup. I'm Alex Nelson. See you next week with more money
01:34tips and news you can use.
