00:06need to know about the differences between perimenopause and the menopause. The menopause
00:11usually affects women between the ages of 45 and 55, although it can happen earlier. It is when your
00:18periods stop due to lower hormone levels, but it can also happen if you've had surgery or for
00:23genetic reason. Whilst perimenopause is when you have symptoms of the menopause but you still have
00:29your periods. Perimenopause ends and becomes menopause when you've not had a period for 12
00:35months. The symptoms of perimenopause and menopause can have a big impact on your life. According to
00:42the NHS, they can include anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods.
00:49Symptoms can also start years before your periods stop. Treatment for symptoms is available and can
00:56include hormone replacement therapy, estrogen treatments or as well as testosterone gel.
