00:18You all right?
00:20You flew in the boat. Do you want to make a run for it?
00:23I don't think we can't go.
00:26I don't know where they are.
00:28F***ing hell!
00:29It's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up, it's coming up.
00:35It's there.
00:37This is Will.
00:39Oh, wow.
00:40And this is Ralph.
00:43Go! You got me!
00:45We've been mates for 20-odd years.
00:48Why did you have to meet me?
00:50I don't know.
00:51We might look like middle-aged blokes.
00:53Just make the tea.
00:54But really, we're just a pair of massive...
00:57...noisy...
00:59...kids.
01:01Ralph North!
01:02So what will it take for us to grow up?
01:04I hope that's your knee.
01:05Embrace modern life.
01:07Charging active, there you go.
01:09Boom!
01:10And become better...
01:11...maturer...
01:12Stop it!
01:13...men.
01:14What have we learned today?
01:15If you squat, your bubble goes massive.
01:17This is not the enlightenment that I was hoping.
01:18F***.
01:19Coming up, coming up, coming up, coming up, coming up.
01:23It's there.
01:24Oh!
01:28Just give us a minute.
01:29Just give us a sec.
01:30Hey!
01:31Funny day in Runcorn.
01:32You all right, pal?
01:33Look at where we are.
01:34Hey?
01:35You ready for this, then?
01:36Yeah.
01:37Nice car.
01:38Electric!
01:39I know it's new for me, this.
01:40I know.
01:41Welcome to the future.
01:42Quiet electric cars, aren't they?
01:43Yes, they are quiet.
01:44That's the point.
01:45There's no engine.
01:46The brakes work.
01:47Yeah, I see that.
01:48What tunes have we got?
01:49I've got an AI playlist here.
01:50Right.
01:51Basic.
01:52I've got an AI playlist here.
01:53Basic.
01:54Basic.
01:55Basic.
01:56Basic.
01:57Basic.
01:58Basic.
01:59Basic.
02:00Basic.
02:01Basic.
02:02Basic.
02:03Basic.
02:04Basic.
02:05Basic.
02:06Basic.
02:07Basic.
02:08Basic.
02:09Basic.
02:10Basic.
02:11Basic.
02:12Based on who we are.
02:13Oh.
02:14So you can put stuff in and it just finds shit for you?
02:16Yeah, and it'll just create a playlist for you.
02:17Oh.
02:18See how much it knows us.
02:19And we'll see how much it knows us.
02:20Oh, that's clever.
02:21I like that.
02:22I'll start from the beginning.
02:23You ready?
02:24I'll strap myself in.
02:25It only takes a minute, girl.
02:27It only takes a minute, girl.
02:32To fall in love.
02:35To fall in love.
02:37It only takes a minute, girl.
02:39Only takes a minute, girl.
02:41Early take now.
02:42I feel like they've nailed it.
02:43This is a real opportunity for us to kind of go, right, who are we now?
02:55Where do we fit in the world?
02:56How do we learn stuff and actually take it into our real lives?
02:58Is it time to grow up?
02:59No.
03:00I never want to grow up.
03:01No.
03:02We're very different, right?
03:03But at the same time, we know each other really well, so we're both going to get something
03:07out of this.
03:08On a more serious note, though.
03:09What?
03:10Even more serious than that?
03:11Well, yeah.
03:12Fucking depressing me.
03:13I wanted to have a bit of fun.
03:14On a more serious note, I'm a little bit worried because now you're 48 years old.
03:19What?
03:20Your balls have got longer and longer and longer.
03:24And I'm just a little bit worried that you might have sat on them when you got in the
03:27car.
03:28Are you okay?
03:29Do you want to get comfortable before we carry on?
03:31Listen, before I got to Roncon, I've been driving for a while, I have no clue because they're
03:34completely numb.
03:35There we go.
03:36That's the kind of high-quality content we can hope to bring.
03:45Right, where are we going?
03:46I'm taking to see somebody who's physical.
03:48This is about physical strength.
03:50Her name's Rebecca and she's the world's strongest woman.
03:54Oh, wow.
03:55I just want to see why she did it, why she got into it.
03:57You know, physical strength, you know, how important is that anymore?
04:01You know what I mean?
04:02Yeah.
04:03I am 48, and yes, you're 44, and I know you love the fact that, but in my mind, I'm still
04:07young.
04:08I know.
04:09It's very sad, isn't it?
04:10Me too.
04:11Do you feel that young?
04:12Oh, totally.
04:13I want to still feel young and do young stuff.
04:15I'll sort of go to the gym a little bit and a lot of that, of course, some of it's
04:19about vanity and not wanting to get old, but there's a certain amount of it that's
04:22about longevity and not wanting to, like, lose muscle mass and go, this is what getting
04:27older is.
04:28Yeah.
04:29But anyway, let's go and see what this strong lady can do.
04:36Look at this.
04:37What a day.
04:38Hi, I'm Rebecca.
04:39It's nice to meet you.
04:40Rebecca.
04:41How are you?
04:42You all right?
04:43Hi, I'm great.
04:44How are you?
04:45Nice to see you all right, mate.
04:46Hi, Will.
04:47Nice to see you all right.
04:48Rolf here.
04:49Nice to see you.
04:50The smallest person in the room all of a sudden.
04:51I've got the power.
04:52Power.
04:53Hey.
04:54Rebecca Roberts holds records for strength and grip and has won the world's strongest
05:03woman title twice so far.
05:05I've got the power.
05:06I've got the power.
05:07I've got the power.
05:08Just remember we're old.
05:09Yeah.
05:10But we're going to have a go.
05:11And weak.
05:12Old and weak.
05:13These guys are going to be like, so just do this and I'm going to be like, have you got
05:14a much smaller one?
05:15Strongman is very much about your mentality and having the perseverance to push through any kind
05:26of pain barriers and it's really good for your mental health as well.
05:30Like leaving life at the door and coming in and just training and focusing on something
05:33different.
05:34How did this all start for you?
05:36I first started the sport eight years ago.
05:38I'd been through a lot at that point in my life.
05:42I was probably at my lowest mentally and physically.
05:47I met my partner at the time.
05:48His name was Paul and he was a massive strongman geek and he saw a lot of potential in me.
05:54Strongwoman, it's given me so much.
05:56It's given me confidence.
05:57It's given me a new lease of life.
06:03We're going to try and lift that car up.
06:05So the car is parked on a frame and we use the frame to deadlift it up.
06:11Have you ever lifted a car before?
06:14No.
06:15What's this weight?
06:16It's about 33 stone.
06:17Wow.
06:18So how heavy are you?
06:19Er, 13.
06:20I'm about 14 and a half.
06:22So it's double me and more.
06:25Yeah.
06:26Right.
06:27Rebecca, go on then.
06:28Give it some rice, love.
06:30This doesn't look good at all.
06:31Whoa, camera's up.
06:35Wow.
06:36Jesus Christ.
06:37There's no like cheating at this.
06:39You're lifting off the car.
06:40She was just throwing it up there like she was juggling.
06:43I couldn't believe it.
06:45Do I have to warm up or anything?
06:46Are we all right?
06:47It's not going to make any difference.
06:48It's not going to make any difference at all, is it?
06:50Okay.
06:51It didn't move a centimetre.
06:57No.
06:58All I've done there is chalk a full stop in my underpants.
07:02It's horrendous.
07:03What, did you think you were going to be able to?
07:05I thought I might get it to move.
07:06You know what, the world's strongest woman sort of has to work really hard to lift.
07:09I might be able to do that.
07:10That's unbelievable.
07:12You can't help it.
07:13You go in and you're there and you're thinking, do you know, there might be just a slim chance.
07:18Strong pull.
07:19No, absolutely no way.
07:20Didn't even move half an inch.
07:22Your arms are just going to get longer.
07:24That's annoying.
07:25You're like Mr Tickle when you finish.
07:29Massive respect to Rebecca.
07:30She's unbelievable.
07:31Well, she's world champion for a reason.
07:33My whole life has been about overcoming adversity, even from a young age.
07:38So I grew up in care.
07:39Paul instilled in me so much belief and he was definitely like my hero.
07:44It's hard to talk about.
07:46But he passed away in December 2022.
07:50Sorry, sweetheart.
07:53Paul would be massively proud of you.
07:55You know that.
07:56One thing that he told me is he believed that I could be regarded as the strongest woman to have ever lived.
08:00And the record for the amount of world's strongest woman titles is four.
08:03So I'm going to go for that five titles and make him proud.
08:07You said I could be the strongest woman to have ever lived in the history.
08:11Exactly.
08:12Of the species.
08:13And I was like, yeah.
08:15Yeah.
08:16You could.
08:17That's amazing.
08:18Well, you go for that.
08:19And I tell you what, me and Ralph will be in the audience.
08:21You let us know when it is, we'll be there cheering you on.
08:23Come on then.
08:26Next, Rebecca wants to test our resilience.
08:29Hey Tom.
08:30Jesus.
08:31With the Hercules hold.
08:34Oh my lord.
08:35White bass.
08:36Look.
08:37Down that side.
08:38You're just playing with them.
08:39You're just playing with them.
08:40They're not matchsticks, you know.
08:42Boom!
08:44Right.
08:45So, um...
08:46Any tips for us before we have a go at this?
08:48So, what I tend to do when I am kind of challenging, is I'll sing a Disney song to myself.
08:54Disney song?
08:55Yeah.
08:56And I will try and get to the end.
08:57Don't sing Let It Go.
09:00Oh shit.
09:01It's heavy that.
09:02That's proper heavy.
09:03It's heavier than I thought.
09:05Right.
09:06Go on mate, you got this.
09:07Down.
09:08Hang on.
09:09Fucking hell.
09:10They've still got hold of it.
09:11That nearly lifted you off the floor.
09:13Right.
09:14Right.
09:15Let go.
09:16Hold you.
09:17Breathe.
09:18Dig in.
09:19As much as you've got.
09:22Keep breathing.
09:23Keep breathing.
09:24Come on, you've got this.
09:25You've got this.
09:29All I wanna do is ride around Sally.
09:32Ride Sally ride.
09:35All I wanna do is ride around Sally.
09:38Rocky.
09:39Rocky.
09:44Rocky, you know me hands?
09:46That looked horrible.
09:47See you've got 35 seconds there.
09:49Come on, can you?
09:51Yeah.
09:53Me hands are like a wet tissue.
09:55Why are you a T-Rex?
09:56I've turned into a Velociraptor.
09:58They feel much better like that.
10:01Hello.
10:02That's all I've got.
10:03That was weird.
10:04I couldn't straighten me fingers.
10:05I was like a Velociraptor.
10:07I was like, well, I hope this goes up.
10:10This isn't gonna be good for me career.
10:12Down.
10:13Down.
10:14We have healthy competition, me and Ralph.
10:15It's like my little brother.
10:16Yeah.
10:17Hold you.
10:18Nice.
10:19Keep breathing.
10:20Keep breathing.
10:21I want him to do well, you know what I mean?
10:22Because I think he doubts himself at certain things.
10:26Take yourself to that happy place.
10:28I'm not a very zen person.
10:31That's amazing.
10:32Go on, son.
10:33But once you get set up.
10:36Nice and strong.
10:37This is easy.
10:38Oh, I've taken some skin off.
10:41Yeah, it's painful, isn't it?
10:42I don't mind you beating me, but double.
10:43I'm not gonna be drawn on this, yeah, yeah, I beat his time business.
10:55I thought we both came out with something today and it was really profound.
11:00But I did smash his time.
11:09So, we have one last event for you, the piece de resistance.
11:17We are going to pull this truck.
11:20Don't talk nonsense.
11:22It's massive.
11:25Oh, B.
11:26Oh, my.
11:27Stop it.
11:28Oh, my God.
11:31Is she pulling that?
11:32Are you not driving it?
11:33No.
11:35Oh, my God.
11:36Mind leaving the engine running for when I try?
11:37Unbelievable.
11:39Oh, my Lord, Becca.
11:42That's ridiculous.
11:43That is unreal.
11:44That is unreal.
11:45You've got more chance of seeing a rockin' arse shit than seeing me pull that.
11:48I think there's more chance of seeing you shit.
11:53I can't even lift a pissing rope.
11:55It's moving, I swear to you.
11:56Push, push.
11:57There you go.
11:58I swear to you.
11:59Come on, you bastard.
12:00Come on, son.
12:01This is amazing.
12:02Come on, Will.
12:03Come on, Will.
12:04There's a bit at the end of Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger where his eyes are popping so far out of his head because he's in the martial atmosphere.
12:11Come on.
12:12I've dropped the rope.
12:13Come on.
12:14Come on.
12:15They didn't need any special effects.
12:16They could have just filmed Whirlpool in a truck.
12:17Come on.
12:18Come on.
12:19Oh, man.
12:20That is unbelievable.
12:21Yes.
12:22That is unbelievable.
12:24That is amazing.
12:26He killed that.
12:27Smashed it.
12:28Did you hear me speaking in tongues?
12:29I don't know what I said, but stuff all came out.
12:32The rope.
12:33Come on.
12:34Do you know what?
12:35It's a feather.
12:36Come on.
12:37That was absurd.
12:38All right.
12:39Leave it.
12:40What are you doing?
12:42Come on, Ralph.
12:43Get it going.
12:44Get it going.
12:45Pull it.
12:46It's moving.
12:47It's moving.
12:48Keep going.
12:49Keep going.
12:50This is really good.
12:51Keep on it.
12:52Keep on it.
12:53Keep on it.
12:54Yeah.
12:55Yeah.
12:58Ripple the truck.
13:01I loved that.
13:02Amazing.
13:03Take the brakes off.
13:04I'm taking it down the road.
13:05It's a challenge, a particular physical challenge.
13:07I'll absolutely do it.
13:08I'll take anything off.
13:09Wow.
13:10Well done.
13:11Psychological stuff and emotional stuff.
13:14I'm dreading that.
13:24Macho.
13:25Macho man.
13:26Macho, macho man.
13:28Macho.
13:29Macho.
13:30Macho man.
13:31I've got to be a macho man.
13:32I've got to be a macho man.
13:35Put it up.
13:36Macho, macho man.
13:38We've just pulled a truck.
13:41And what an incredible woman.
13:42Yeah, man.
13:43Watching her do things that are just unbelievable.
13:48We've both been to a gym and we've both lifted weights,
13:51but that's not what that is.
13:52No.
13:53At all.
13:53No, and there's nothing about that that's about aesthetics
13:58and, like, how good you look.
14:00It's about going, I'm going to use my body
14:02to have this strength to do this.
14:04Of course, that's about training and physicality and everything,
14:07but a lot of it's about, if you want to talk about toughness,
14:10it's about mental toughness.
14:12The mental side of all of that I've found absolutely, like, inspiring.
14:16Yeah.
14:17I always want to feel healthy.
14:18I'd like to be mentally stronger as well so I can deal with stuff.
14:22If I don't deal with stuff very well mentally,
14:24I sort of want everything to be happy and great all the time
14:27and that's not life.
14:28Are you quite mentally strong, would you say?
14:30Because you don't give a lot away, you, Ralph.
14:32Do you purposely just sort of go,
14:35I don't talk about my past
14:37or are you just quite, you know, things bounce off you?
14:47Have you shut down?
14:48I don't really have anyone that I would share that stuff with.
14:56You've got me.
14:57Yeah.
14:58You can talk to me about anything.
14:59I know.
15:00I love you for that, man.
15:02Ask me again sometime.
15:03Yeah.
15:03We'll talk about it.
15:05We've got a long journey ahead of us, mate.
15:07Exactly.
15:07But you do know that our old stomping ground in Runcorn,
15:17that our pub, that we used to film.
15:20Well, you know what's changed now, right?
15:21Yeah, it's a buddy's temple.
15:23Yes, it is.
15:24It's a buddy's temple.
15:25Which is...
15:26Can you believe that?
15:27Which is comically ironic when you consider...
15:29What went on in there.
15:32I know.
15:33It may be needed cleansing, to be fair.
15:35Yeah, I'd say they probably had to do an exorcism.
15:40The Archer was the old pub from two pints of lager
15:43and a packet of crisps, where me and Ralph first met.
15:48I've always been interested in Buddhism.
15:49You've always been interested in Buddhism?
15:51No, it's Buddhism where you rub the bellies.
15:55What?
15:56Don't you rub the bellies for luck?
15:58They love it.
15:59So, it's considered rude if it's not the first thing that you do.
16:03A little play with the belly button.
16:04But they love it if you just do that for us.
16:09They're all about self, like, enlightenment.
16:13They're about meditation.
16:14Have you ever stood any of it before?
16:16I can't do meditation.
16:17Are you joking?
16:18Meditation so that you basically...
16:21You're alone with your thoughts.
16:22I spent my entire life trying to ignore them.
16:24I think it's all very familiar.
16:32It's going to be a lot less familiar in a minute.
16:34Last time I went in there, there was someone singing karaoke on the stage.
16:39Might have been me.
16:40I can't remember.
16:41Oh.
16:42Hello.
16:43Hello.
16:43Coming in.
16:44We've been expecting you.
16:45The Old Archer has been a Buddhist temple for ten years.
16:50And it's where you can learn the ancient teachings of Buddha and practice meditation.
16:53This is an offering ceremony.
16:56That's where the original lounge bar was.
16:58I recognise it.
17:04Like, but the carpets aren't sticky.
17:06No.
17:07Very different.
17:08The carpets aren't sticky, actually.
17:09It's definitely true.
17:09It's lovely.
17:10We'd have lost a sock.
17:12Do you want to sit down?
17:13Let's take a seat.
17:14I'm in short.
17:15I've always talked meditation.
17:17I can't sit still for five seconds.
17:19So it's just whether...
17:21I want to try and learn something I can take with me from every part of this journey.
17:24There's a very famous monk who was asked,
17:27how long should I meditate for?
17:30And his answer was,
17:31well, everybody should meditate for 20 minutes a day.
17:35Right.
17:35Unless you haven't got time, of course.
17:37Everyone's got 20 minutes at some point.
17:37And if you haven't got time, you should meditate for 40 minutes a day.
17:41Oh.
17:42So it's about making that time for yourself.
17:46We're talking now when one of them's nodded off.
17:48Can they do that?
17:49Just nod off.
17:50He's proper having a kid.
17:52He may not really.
17:53Oh, really?
17:54So that's meditation?
17:54Maybe.
17:55I thought he was having a sleep.
17:56I can't sleep sitting on.
17:58You can't sleep lying down.
18:00You struggle sleep lying down.
18:01Some people might say he was asleep.
18:04I refuse to acknowledge that.
18:06So you can sit like this.
18:08Oh.
18:09Come on, touch your legs.
18:11There we go.
18:12Shh.
18:14Stop it.
18:14Stop it.
18:17I have to do no fall back.
18:18So this is our head monk.
18:20This is Tanturasak.
18:22Tanturasak.
18:23Can we ask Tanturasak to do some chanting for us?
18:26Like, look, I can't.
18:37This is killing my abs.
18:39Are you OK?
18:40Yeah.
18:40OK.
18:41Suddenly they're doing this chant.
18:45Everyone else is like, oh, this is so kind of one with the universe.
18:49And I'm going, I am going to fall over and I'm shaking like a shitting dog.
18:53This is not the enlightenment I was hoping for.
19:05It was so mortifying.
19:07But then I felt a little bit better about it by the fact that the head monk chuckled as
19:12we left and the other one whipped out a mobile phone and started going on Instagram.
19:15Maybe it was Googling who me and Ralph was.
19:18Who are these two dickheads here?
19:23Wow.
19:25Hi.
19:26Hi.
19:27Hi.
19:27Thank you so much for coming out.
19:30What is it that makes you happy?
19:33Usually it's when I'm on holiday and I have got nothing to think about work-wise.
19:37I can just go and be with my family.
19:39So if you turn it on the head and say, what is it that makes you sad?
19:42Man United.
19:43You then realise.
19:44Man United make me sad a lot.
19:45You then realise those aren't the things that are making you sad.
19:50They are simply the triggers.
19:51But if you can let go.
19:53Yeah, I've got to learn to let go.
19:54I've got to learn to let go.
19:56So I've spent my life letting everything go.
19:58Like nothing touches me.
19:59But the flip side of that is you don't feel anything.
20:02Interesting.
20:03Because Buddhism is all about the middle path.
20:05Yes.
20:06Maybe what we're trying to find is a middle path between those two.
20:09There is something about the idea of Thai Buddhism and the life and the principles of it.
20:13There's a beautiful simplicity to it that I can totally imagine makes you really happy.
20:18That is fabulous.
20:19What I really like about this is the saying, these are the things that we like and that
20:25we believe in.
20:26These are our mantras.
20:28Use them if they help you.
20:30Use what you need to help you through your life and try and spread love and happiness.
20:35And what is wrong with that?
20:36Welcome.
20:44You shed the Western clothes and you're now ready to live the life of simplicity.
20:49Could you not have arranged some dry ice as we can?
20:51Next, it's a lesson in mindful breathing.
20:57We breathe into your nose.
20:59And then you slowly breathe out.
21:07Breathe in, a good energy.
21:10And taking all the negative energy out.
21:15Okay.
21:17Okay.
21:18Keep going.
21:19Deep breathe in.
21:20How'd that feel?
21:25I feel chilled.
21:26That's good.
21:28Would you like to try faster?
21:34Sorry.
21:35I got a bit in my clacker.
21:36Sorry.
21:37I let it went down my throat.
21:38When she did the...
21:39I could feel me body.
21:42And I could see Ralph's body shaking.
21:44I thought, he's gone.
21:44Because it come out of me nose, out of me mouth.
21:46That's why I don't know.
21:47Nose.
21:48Out of me nose as well.
21:49I just don't want...
21:49I just don't want to snort.
21:50Because he's thinking...
21:52They will be snorts.
21:55And I thought, I can't snort in front of the monks.
22:00Sorry.
22:01Okay.
22:02Try one more.
22:03The nasal breathing.
22:05Of course it works.
22:06It works.
22:07Like, it's about concentrating on your breathing.
22:08And, you know, getting air in.
22:11And blood flow and oxygen.
22:17I can hear him pulling.
22:21But listening to Will's snot flapping about the inside of his nostrils
22:25just made it not the mindful exercise I was hoping for.
22:29Okay.
22:30Open the needles.
22:31Are you okay?
22:36Okay.
22:37I said, well, I'm less than scared for our wizard of Oz.
22:41When me and Will got the giggles, it was so mortifying because it felt so disrespected,
22:45but I couldn't.
22:46It was such nervous laughter.
22:47I didn't want him to think that we were taking the piss out of it.
22:49We're not in that moment, you know, when you're laughing, you can't stop.
22:53Mate, if we go back in, just behave.
22:54Right.
22:55Center.
22:56Respect.
22:57Take it seriously.
22:58Try and walk properly.
22:59Nothing's changed.
23:00We're just the same kids, but with older bodies.
23:03All right.
23:04Let's go.
23:06We're allowed back in for teacher nun's speciality, Thai massage,
23:11which should help our middle-aged flexibility.
23:13Concentrate on breathing.
23:19I'm trying.
23:20If you feel any tight, just chill, okay?
23:22All right, well, I'll tell you.
23:24But I won't stop.
23:25Oh, thanks.
23:27It's nice to know.
23:29How'd that feel?
23:30Okay.
23:30Hey, what's that one?
23:32A bit tense there.
23:33That's my foot, the left one.
23:34I don't know what she thought.
23:34I can feel it.
23:36That's it.
23:37You've got it right breathing.
23:38I'm breathing, I'm breathing.
23:39What's going on there?
23:42Her feet were very close at points.
23:44At least they won't slip, and that toe's going right up the ricker.
23:48She's putting a lot of pressure on.
23:49One slip, and I will hit some high notes.
23:52Right, this one we call the swan flying.
23:56You ready?
23:56Yeah, I'm ready.
23:57Okay.
23:58Ah!
23:58That was a painful one.
24:06You see, his pain response is to shriek like a six-year-old child.
24:11I can't help but find that very, very funny.
24:14How'd that feel?
24:14Oh, good.
24:15Nice, isn't it?
24:16Oh, it's really nice.
24:17Now you love ninjanin.
24:19I love ninjanin.
24:21It felt like every part of her body, elbows and knees,
24:25were on me at the same time, dancing.
24:26I got the impression that Will had no idea that I was walking on his back.
24:39I was really looking forward to the idea of never telling him.
24:51Oh, that's not bad.
24:56That's so there.
24:57It's so there.
24:59Oh.
25:04Okay, you can stand up now.
25:06I quite like it here.
25:09Amazing masseuse.
25:11Hard.
25:11But if you're going to have a massage, you've got to feel it.
25:13You know, no point in tickling each other.
25:14Okay.
25:15You don't have a problem with any...
25:17I have an unusual pain response.
25:20Just shut your face and lie down.
25:21All right.
25:21Listen to her.
25:22Okay.
25:28There's the pain response.
25:31I laugh.
25:34Give him loads.
25:35Go on, get an inch.
25:36Get an inch on him.
25:38Who laughs when they're in pain?
25:39You should go and see a dominatrix.
25:41You'd love it.
25:42Why do you laugh when you're in pain?
25:44You know what's coming?
25:45Oh, flying's on me all day long.
25:47That's it.
25:53No, I've never been walked on before.
25:56I did ask if she had any stilettos, but she didn't answer.
26:03I think I've known in 23 years, I don't think I've ever touched him this much in my life.
26:07Not without a beer first.
26:09I know you more today than I've ever known you.
26:13Play the music.
26:16I think it's the closest I've been to Ralph ever.
26:28I hope that's your knee.
26:31This Buddhism's got a different side to it.
26:34And I never want to be that close again.
26:36Keep the spread to his leg a bit, wife.
26:38When Will sort of was over the top of me and he had my knees up around my ears and my legs
26:44up, it was felt sort of like so vulnerable and he was so there.
26:47All I could think was, this is what it must be like for heterosexual women.
26:51And it's awful.
26:51Why am I doing this?
26:56Just because you told me to do it?
26:57It's relaxing the muscle.
26:59Then finish off with a little.
27:00There you go.
27:03I can't remember, as an adult, I have been able to do that my entire life.
27:07That's unbelievable.
27:08My whole life.
27:09Thank you so much.
27:10I hope we've taught you something.
27:20I hope you've learned something.
27:21So just practice it now and then you build it more happiness to the end.
27:26I just thought the principles that they talked about and being self-reflective and even meditation,
27:34I really feel like you can take that into life and be a better, certainly happier person.
27:40It's quite an exciting idea.
27:42I do feel lighter.
27:44I feel like I don't have to hold on to stuff.
27:46I feel like there's been an enlightenment.
27:49So this could be the new me.
27:51I could get home at the weekend and the kids go, who are you?
27:54It's like, I'm your new dad.
27:57Zen.
28:03It's a good driving song, this.
28:05It says journey to me, this song.
28:10Fuck off.
28:11This car starts beeping if you go over three mile an hour over the speed limit.
28:15There we go.
28:16That's that Buddhist philosophy.
28:17Sorry.
28:18Fucking car.
28:19One of the things that are part of Buddhism is they believe in reincarnation, which, say
28:32if reincarnation is a thing, right, what would you come back as?
28:37If you had a choice.
28:39I come back as a silverback gorilla.
28:42Big, strong, dominant, but, you know, and most of the time sits around scratching his
28:46balls in the jungle.
28:48You've pretty much lived your life as a silverback gorilla.
28:50What would you be then?
28:52Sloth sounds quite good fun.
28:54That's boring.
28:55Yeah, but it's not boring.
28:55It takes an hour to walk across the road.
28:58Yeah, but it's not boring to the sloth.
29:00The sloth's just like, oh, I love sleeping.
29:05Oh, I'm just going to go over there.
29:09Exactly.
29:10Knock about it.
29:11Fuck off.
29:13I want to come back as that.
29:18Have you heard about screaming therapy?
29:21What's that?
29:21Just shouting?
29:22As far as I understand it, you know, if you've got a lot of, like, pent-up anxiety, aggression,
29:28then screaming, like, as loud as you can is supposed to sort of, like, primally release
29:34up a lot of that tension and energy, and then you can just concentrate on just being at
29:38peace.
29:39All right, should we give it a try, then?
29:42Hey!
29:45I feel like you're slightly inhibited by the fact that you've got to drive.
29:48So you're just basically going like that.
29:50No!
29:53Life is a cabaret!
29:57You give it a go.
29:59Ah!
30:01Sorry.
30:03Morning.
30:03Oh, wait, he just shits herself.
30:11What else is there?
30:16Silent retreats.
30:18One study showed that silence is essential for emotional regulation, social interaction,
30:23and adaptive physiological responses.
30:25So you go to a retreat and just don't speak?
30:28Apparently.
30:29Do you know what?
30:30Why don't we sit and start in silence and see you get so uncomfortable and breaks it?
30:33I'm already uncomfortable.
30:34I was going to say.
30:35I'm already uncomfortable.
30:36I've not even started it, and I'm already uncomfortable.
30:40I don't like silence.
30:40Two breaks for silence first.
30:41I don't like silences.
30:43All right, let's see.
30:43All right, so, what, we're going to be silent now?
30:46See how long we can be comfortable being silent.
30:49All right.
30:49You ready?
30:50All right.
30:51Do I have to think about anything?
30:52Can I just ask?
30:52You can do what you want.
30:53No.
30:54Just don't say anything.
30:54OK.
30:56Three?
30:56Yeah.
30:57Two, three.
31:14Do you think fish know the fish?
31:16What are you laughing at?
31:18What?
31:19Oh, yeah, we're supposed to be silent now.
31:2236 seconds.
31:24With the birds I shed is a lonely view.
31:33With the birds I shed is a lonely view.
31:44What a tune, this is.
31:50Blood loss in a bathroom stall.
31:52A southern girl with a scarlet brawl.
31:55A whip to fire tomorrow and a paw could.
31:58To get your lips off my bottle of water.
32:01This is yours?
32:02Yes.
32:03Your acidic lips.
32:06Get, stop licking it.
32:08Well, you might as well set fire to that bowl, because I will never drink out of that ever again.
32:12Here's something for the camera.
32:13See what that says?
32:17What do you see on it?
32:18Ralph.
32:18Oh.
32:19I've been drinking yours.
32:20Ah, yeah.
32:21I know.
32:22Sorry.
32:23We've learned how to go beyond our physical strength.
32:31Let go.
32:32And calm our minds.
32:34But we should probably stress test this to see how much of it we've actually taken on board.
32:39Okay, so we are going to military hostile environment training.
32:45That doesn't sound good at all.
32:47Stand out!
32:48Move!
32:49Hostile environment training is a serious military training exercise that teaches you coping strategies for stressful situations such as combat zones or kidnappings.
33:00I'm all up for trying stuff, and I will, I'll do my best, but people start shouting at me and all that.
33:04I don't react well to that.
33:06Well.
33:06Do you?
33:07Not really, but I think that, I mean, we said.
33:11We're going to have to use what we've learned.
33:12We said how we wanted to be pushed out of our comfort zones, I think we're about to be pushed right out.
33:17I'm up for it, I'll do it, but I just don't know how I'm going to react.
33:20That is the truth.
33:21I don't know what's going to happen.
33:23I did read up a little bit, a little bit about it, and the one thing that I thought was going to be really problematic was the electrodes on the balls.
33:33What?
33:34Well, I just worry.
33:34Bollocks to that.
33:35No, seriously, but I worry mainly for them, because they're going to have to spend ages gathering yours up.
33:39LAUGHTER
33:40Hostile environment training.
33:52No.
33:54Are you all right?
33:55Yep.
33:55I feel like this is starting to look like it might be triggering for you.
34:00I don't know, mate.
34:02I don't know what it is.
34:04I might be absolutely fine.
34:05Listen, whatever happens, I've got you.
34:12Hello, mate.
34:12Good morning.
34:13You all right?
34:13How's it going?
34:14Hiya, mate.
34:14Nice to see you, Will.
34:15Here for the stress test, are you?
34:20When Ralph said to me, we're going to do a stress test, I thought, I don't need that.
34:24I'm stressed enough all the time.
34:26You know, what I need is to go and do a bit of fishing and relax, a bit of countryside.
34:30So, what we're going to be going through, obviously, stress testing and stress test.
34:35One of the main unknowns that we've got is how you're going to react when you're pumped up and full of adrenaline.
34:39Andy was great.
34:40He explained the different stages of, you know, your heart rate and what your body's telling you at that moment.
34:45Your brain is telling you that this isn't going to work out for you.
34:48And that's when we get into flight mode up to about 175 beats per minute.
34:51You will quickly go through that adrenaline stage, though, if you're with people that you feel responsible for.
34:58So, that's just something to be mindful of.
34:59Protecting people.
35:00Yeah, just be aware.
35:01Then he might pick on him to get a reaction out of you.
35:04But it would get a reaction because I want to protect him.
35:05You want to protect him?
35:06I'm good.
35:07You don't need to look after him.
35:08I mean, I appreciate that you would.
35:09I'm just saying that you don't need to.
35:11Voiding.
35:12So, voiding is the technical term for pissing, shitting and vomiting.
35:16Okay?
35:17If I shit myself on camera.
35:20Yeah.
35:20Would you just put a bullet in my head so I don't have to face the world afterwards?
35:23Yeah, no problem.
35:24No problem at all.
35:25We'll get you sorted out.
35:25You probably will shit yourself.
35:27Now, one of the ways you can control that, okay, is we can limit the speed that adrenaline goes around our body by breathing.
35:34We went, actually, to a Buddhist temple and the monks taught us some breathing techniques just to help us centre ourselves.
35:41In the military, it's called tactical breathing.
35:43Right.
35:43Because it sounds cooler.
35:44Yeah.
35:44So, if you want to start calling it that from now on, not learning it in a monastery, then, yeah, yeah.
35:49Tactical breathing.
35:49Tactical breathing.
35:51Yeah.
35:51So, obviously, we're going to give you an opportunity to go out into the wider world and use these techniques, okay?
35:57Okay, thank you.
35:58We're not going to jump you or anything like that now in here.
36:01I mean, it's not going to happen.
36:03All we would expect you to do, okay?
36:05I'm on pins.
36:05Yeah, all we'd expect you to do.
36:07I'm on pins.
36:08It's nice and simple.
36:09All you've got to do is just drive home.
36:11Okay.
36:12That's it.
36:12Just got to drive home.
36:13I'm going to say I don't need you.
36:15Best of luck.
36:16You're going to need it.
36:16Here we go.
36:20I'm not good at not knowing what's going to happen because my brain makes up things and it comes up with scenarios that might not happen.
36:28So, I'm stressed before the stress test even starts.
36:30Okay, let's go.
36:34You all right?
36:36I don't want to go.
36:38My phone doesn't want to go on the accelerator.
36:40Wait, did they say turn left out the gate?
36:42Yeah.
36:42Turn right.
36:51What is that?
36:52What's what?
36:53That's a roadblock with people with guns.
36:55No, it's not.
36:56Yes, it is.
36:56Oh, shit.
36:57Oh, no.
36:58What's he saying?
36:59Go left.
37:00Has he got a gun?
37:01Yeah, he's got a machine gun.
37:02Oh, for fuck's sake.
37:04Oh, Jesus Christ.
37:06Yeah.
37:07Where?
37:07Where?
37:07Where?
37:08Window down for me, please, mate.
37:10Hello?
37:11You good?
37:12Yeah, good, thanks.
37:13Great.
37:13You look nervous.
37:14What's up?
37:14Well, you've got a gun.
37:16The reason we stopped you, we've had a report of a terrorist incident around here.
37:19I need to see some IDs from yourselves, okay?
37:21Yeah, can I get a big windex check?
37:24Fuck me, you are nervous, mate, aren't you?
37:26No, I'm just like, you know what I mean?
37:27Look at everyone.
37:28Of course I'm a bit nervous.
37:29Relax.
37:30Afternoon.
37:31Afternoon.
37:31Me and my colleagues are going to check this vehicle.
37:33Is there anything in here that may harm me or him?
37:36No, no.
37:37Okay.
37:38Would you like to keep your hands wherever you can see them, please?
37:40Yep.
37:40They say, have you got anything?
37:50Nope.
37:50I thought, we're all right.
37:51Got nothing to hide.
37:53Next minute, they pull out a balaclava under Ralph's seat.
37:55Bali.
37:56Bali.
37:56And I very nearly wanted to go, guys, we didn't put that there.
38:01Behave.
38:02You put that there.
38:03And then I was like, just don't say anything.
38:06What's going on?
38:08Are you talking to me?
38:09I'm fucking looking at you, aren't I?
38:11I don't know what you said you were talking about.
38:12Shut up!
38:14I just kept on thinking, I can't do anything about this.
38:16So I almost had a little bit of room to be like, more wondering how Will was getting on.
38:20You're quiet in the passenger seat.
38:22What's going on?
38:23Well, they...
38:23Stop.
38:24Take him out and search him.
38:25Get out.
38:27Hands on your head.
38:28Hands on your head.
38:28Move forward.
38:29I was just like, what's happening?
38:32Honest to God.
38:32And then I'm thinking, breathe.
38:34Terrorist attack.
38:35Got two guys you don't recognize.
38:36You're obviously not from here.
38:38What the fuck is that?
38:40What the fuck is that?
38:40What the fuck?
38:40What the fuck is that?
38:41Stay there.
38:42Get your fucking hands on your head.
38:44Get out.
38:45What was that?
38:46What the fuck?
38:47Get up.
38:47Get that fuck.
38:48What the fuck was that?
38:49You're trying to fucking kill me.
38:51Get your head down.
38:51On your knees.
38:52My right leg was shaking like you wouldn't believe.
38:55Who did it?
38:56Slot him.
38:57Kill him.
38:58Keep your hands still.
39:03Stay still.
39:04Stay down.
39:05I didn't realize you'd fucking actually do it.
39:06Get that body in the boot.

39:09Hurry up.
39:09Get in.
39:10Stay still.
39:11Get in.
39:12Get in.
39:12Put your head up.
39:13Put your head up.
39:14Right.
39:14Let's go.
39:14Get your head down.
39:15Bugger.
39:15Head forward.
39:16Head forward.
39:17Go, go, go, go.
39:18Move.
39:19Get.
39:19Go, go, go.
39:20Get in.
39:21Get in.
39:21The vehicle away.
39:28So, you know, I'm trapped in the boot and I'm thinking, Will's going to get out the car
39:33and come and save me.
39:35And whatever happens, I've got you.
39:46About 27 minutes went past.
39:49I was like, I guess this is me now.
39:51So, I guess this is where I live.
40:15It's me.
40:17You all right?
40:19Fucking hell, man.
40:19You're fleeing the boot.
40:21Do you want to make a run for it?
40:23I don't think we can go with it.
40:27I don't know where they are.
40:29Fucking hell!
40:31Fuck off!
40:32If I thought we were being shot at, I thought I was like bollocks.
40:35Let's go.
40:36Get the fuck out of here.
40:37Get me out of the boot.
40:38Shh, shh, shh.
40:39It's a burning thing.
40:43And it's me.
40:43There's no one here.
40:45Well, let me know when we get to Buckinghamshire and then I'll get out.
40:49Fucking hell!
40:52I heard some shots.
40:53Yeah, so did I.
40:54I'm playing dead.
40:57Thank God.

41:08Open the boot, you helmet.
41:09All right.

41:19I've got a bit of an headache.
41:20Why don't you come out?
41:22I don't know.
41:22I feel safer in here.
41:23Come on.
41:24Come on.
41:28Come on, we'll leave him too.
41:30Are you all right?
41:31That'd be terrifying, wouldn't it?
41:34Fuck.
41:35Yeah.
41:35Did you use any of the techniques?
41:38Did you actually think, now's the time?
41:40There was definitely one moment where I was like, oh, this is getting a bit much.
41:43And I was just like.
41:46Just one breath and I was like, it's fine.
41:49I've got to say, and I really don't, and I hope you don't take this to be patronising.
41:53I really don't mean it to be.
41:54But I'm dead proud of you.
41:56In my 20s, I don't know.
41:57I would have been either too cheeky, well, I'd have got shot.
42:00I would have either tried to confront them and just go, what are you talking about?
42:04Move, man.
42:04I don't know.
42:05I'm being cocky.
42:06I'd have got shot.
42:07Basically, I'd have got shot.
42:08It shows.

42:14I am getting better.
42:17Yeah.
42:17Oh, well.

42:32Never pretend that it's so real.
42:38Someday soon this will all be someone else's dream.
42:45This will be someone else's dream.
42:50It's a classic.
42:51I'm not going to light you.
42:52I'm feeling it.
