00:29President Daniel Novoa's government and Congress.
00:36And in Palestine, Gaza's civil defense official has called for urgent international intervention
00:41to save the lives of thousands of civilians.
00:50Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:55We begin with the news.
01:03In Ecuador, President Daniel Novoa increases the number of militarized zones in the country
01:12in response to the eighth day of the national strike.
01:16The Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador, Conalle, has condemned the enforcement
01:22and described it as an ongoing massacre.
01:24The organization also denounced President Novoa's desperate attempt at repression following the
01:30murder of communal leader Efraƭn FuƩrez by security forces, which has been called a state
01:35crime against Indigenous leaders.
01:38According to official records, the action of state police agencies have resulted in a total
01:44of 48 injured, 100 arrests and 109 complaints of human rights violations.
01:57On Sunday, the Association of Directors and Screenwriters of Ecuador expressed its energetic
02:03rejection to the violence perpetrated by the government of Daniel Novoa against peaceful protest.
02:09The filmmakers also expressed their indignation at the violent repression that has left tragic
02:16results, including the murder of a community member and several wounded.
02:21The filmmakers called on the government and the armed forces to respect international laws
02:26and treaties.
02:27They also urged them to continue documenting the events in the streets in a context where signal
02:33blockades have been reported in the city of Otavalo, limiting communication and the possibility
02:38of reporting on the situation.
02:47In Lima, Peru, another day of protests and clashes with police occurred on Sunday as youth groups
02:53demonstrated against President Dinamo Luarte's Government and Congress for failing to address
02:58escalating violence, extortion and also murders affecting them.
03:02Hundreds of protesters from youth organizations identifying as Generation C confronted police
03:08near Congress in central Lima at night.
03:12Uniformed officials armed with shields and helmets used tear gas to repel them, pushing the crowd
03:19back to San MartĆn Square.
03:21For the second consecutive night, the youth attempted to remove metal fences and barriers, protecting
03:27the Congress building.
03:28They demand accountability from the Boluarte administration regarding corruption and reject
03:34its economic and social policies.
03:47Paraguay has a similar scenario.
03:49Citizens are protesting against the widespread corruption of the government of Santiago PeƱa
03:54and the Colorado Party were detained by the authorities.
03:58The protesters gathered in front of the National Congress aimed to demand salary adjustments, denounce
04:04corruption and the misuse of public funds by PeƱa's government.
04:08In this regard, they rejected the executive's lack of budget for social projects.
04:13Likewise, several protesters denounced irregular detentions and demanded respect for the right
04:20to free protest.
04:27And on Sunday, Venezuela's Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez denied allegations by the National
04:33Far Right about an alleged militarization of the population.
04:37Padrino Lopez described the accusation as absurd and defended the duty to sow patriotic awareness
04:44to ensure that all citizens within the national territory in the exercise of the rights and
04:50freedoms are able to defend their peace and sovereignty.
04:54He also recalled the context of permanent threat that Venezuela is experiencing precisely due to
05:00operations orchestrated by the national extremist groups and their allies in Latin America
05:06and the United States, which have caused innocent human lives.
05:15Throughout its history, Nicaragua has defeated United States imperialism 169 years after the
05:22heroic battle of San Jacinto.
05:25The people said no to Yankee intervention.
05:28Our colleague, Kenya DoƱa, gives us the details.
05:31Nicaragua, September 14, 1856, North American filibusters attempted to conquer and invade the
05:40country, but were defeated by peasants, soldiers, and the arrow-shooting Indians of Matagalpa.
05:51It was humble people and farmers who defended this place with their bows and arrows, with courage,
06:00sovereignty, and dignity.
06:05Andres Castro, a Nicaraguan soldier, when his carbine ran out of ammunition, and he could
06:10not load his flintlock rifle, grabbed a rock, and with a stone he shot down a filibuster here.
06:16It was proven that they were not invincible, and that a group of Nicaraguans, poorly armed
06:20but full of patriotism, defeated those 300 well-armed North American filibuster invaders.
06:33We defended ourselves with stones because it took time to load the rifle, and there was
06:38a mass of filibusters.
06:39On top of that, the United States are not invulnerable.
06:44They were already defeated in Nicaragua, they were already defeated in Vietnam, they were
06:48already defeated in Korea, they were already defeated in Giron, and they will be defeated
06:52anywhere they go.
06:57The Battle of San Jacinto was not only a military triumph.
07:05It was a demonstration of dignity, unity, and sovereignty in the face of an enemy powerful
07:09in arms but weak in reason.
07:14The factor of unity is absolutely crucial, and the Battle of San Jacinto is an example
07:21of what it represented it not only united the people of Nicaragua against the filibuster,
07:26it united Central America against the imperialist.
07:35Reason and dignity will never be less than the arrogance of those who believe that they
07:38can conquer reason through force.
07:40We have always been right, history and time have proven us right.
07:44There is a people that united to defend the territory they inhabited, which is being threatened
07:55by a foreign force.
07:56Only with morality, courage, and bravery, they were able to overcome the superiority in weaponry.
08:06It was proven that it was not weapons that made the difference, but individuals, and they
08:10can find that in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
08:17San Jacinto remains a symbol of resistance, a battle where the humble people defeated the invader, and that today inspires us to continue defending the sovereignty of the peoples against the
08:20people.
08:21San Jacinto remains a symbol of resistance, a battle where the humble people defeated the invader, and that today inspires
08:24us to continue defending the sovereignty of the sovereignty of the peoples against all forms of foreign domination.
08:31El valor, la verdad y la justicia estarƔn de nuestro lado.

09:12What is the problem with the United States? All countries that aim to have their own political project, their self-determination and not depend on its dictates in international politics, automatically become enemies.
09:28And then they deny us the right to create our own democracies, originated from the will of the people, because they are the ones who elect the presidents, so that we can add our own salt, our own spices, our own seasoning, because that is democracy in our own idiosyncrasy, and then they see that as a danger.
09:47From San Jacinto, Nicaragua reminds the world, with unity, dignity and courage, that the people will always prevail.

10:16Welcome back to From the South, we go to China, that is a country that expects 2.36 billion passenger trips during the national day holiday.
10:45Our correspondent in China, Bruno Falsi, has further information.
10:50Greetings from China, on the national day and the mid-autumn festival holidays.
10:56Behind me, you can see Beijing Station, one of the capital transportation hubs.
11:01We'll be right back, don't go away.
11:03We'll be right back, don't go away.
11:03We'll be right back, don't go away.
11:04My name is Xi, I'm sorry.
11:05I'm sorry.
11:06We're here.
11:07The eight-day holiday period is expected to generate substantial passenger traffic across the country.
11:15China's railway sector forecast approximately 219 million passenger trips, with around 30,000 trains operating daily.
11:26Vice Minister of Transport Li Yang provided the overall travel projections at a press conference in Beijing.
11:40According to our analysis and forecast,
11:43inter-regional passenger travel across society during this holiday period will reach to 0.36 billion.
12:02Averaging around 295 million people per day,
12:19representing an increase of approximately 3.2% year on year.
12:25International travel is always expected to show significant growth during the holiday period.
12:31China's National Immigration Administration projects an average of 2 million border crossing per day.
12:40Online travel platforms report an increase in international flights and hotel bookings in dozens of Chinese cities.
12:49Data indicates that in-bound and outbound airline tickets bookings exceed 800,000
12:57and international hotel bookings cover more than 2,800 cities worldwide.
13:04The National Immigration Administration attributes the expected increase in cross-border travel to visa-free entries policies for certain countries
13:15and the reception of international flight routes.
13:20Now we return to Telesur in the studio in La Habana, Cuba.
13:24On Monday, Typhoon Vualoi made landfall in Vietnam, triggering floods, airport closures and evacuations of thousands of residents.
13:31The National Weather Agency reported that Typhoon Vualoi caused waves of up to 8 metres high, accompanied by destructive winds and tornadoes.
13:45According to Vietnamese authorities, the Typhoon Vualoi has caused the death of at least 12 people left to injured and rescue teams searching for 17 missing fishermen.
14:06In this scenario, many affected regions have remained without electricity and internet access, making it extremely difficult to accurately assess the damage and ongoing relief efforts.
14:36In other information, in Mexico, civil society organizations and activists gather to raise their voices in favor of reproductive rights within the framework of the Global Day of Action for access to legal and safe abortion.
15:02The event is part of a global day of mobilizations that every September 28 seeks to highlight the urgent need for public policies that protect bodily autonomy and human rights.
15:15Although 24 states in Mexico have decriminalized abortion, participants denounce that medical clinics performing the procedure are located in central areas or restrict access to it.
15:28September 28 has been globally adopted by feminist and human rights organizations, becoming an international day of action to end the criminalization of voluntary pregnancy termination.

16:01Welcome back to From the South.
16:26In Palestine, Gaza's civil defense official has called for urgent international intervention to save the lives of thousands of civilians.
16:34In a statement released on Sunday, Mohamed Al Mugair, Director of Humanitarian Support and International Relations at Civil Defense,
16:42warned that Gaza's rescue services face imminent collapse as Israeli forces deliberately obstruct fuel deliveries needed for emergency operations.
16:51The official accused Israeli forces of disrupting the humanitarian services the organization provides to citizens by preventing fuel supplies for rescue and firefighting vehicles in northern Gaza.
17:04The United Nations Office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs and other aid agencies have repeatedly warned in recent months that Gaza's fuel crisis caused by the Israeli blockade have reached a critical point.
17:17Also in Palestine, at least 47 civilians were killed by Israeli bombings of residential and displaced areas in the southern Gaza Strip.
17:32According to Palestinian authorities, the attack was carried out against the Makkah Tower in the Tal al-Hawar neighborhood and a building in the Al-Rajas neighborhood in the Sabra district.
17:45Likewise, several Palestinians were injured when an Israeli drone dropped a bomb on a group of civilians on Jaffa Street while the Air Force attacked a house near the Al-Shabiyah crossing.
17:57Health authorities confirmed that the number of Palestinians killed has risen to more than 66,000 since October 2023.
18:10The Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas denied on Sunday receiving any new ceasefire proposal from mediators.
18:27In a press release, the movement stated that negotiations have stalled, denying having received any new proposal since the Israeli attack on September 9th in the Qatari capital, Doha, in which five Hamas members and Qatari security officials were killed.
18:44The statement comes as international media outlets report on a new proposal outlining 21 points aimed at ending the war in Gaza.
18:53However, the movement affirmed its willingness to consider any proposals presented by the mediators positively and responsibly as long as the national rights of the Palestinian people are preserved.
19:05In other topics, in the United States, police forces suppress citizens who protested in Portland against the order to militarize the city.
19:20In an authoritarian escalation, President Donald Trump ordered the militarization of Portland, Oregon and authorized the use of force against its own population with the aim of repressing citizens who reject his immigration policies and the violence of ICE raids.
19:36Trump described Portland as a city devastated by war and labeled anti-fascist and anti-racist movements as domestic terrorists, creating an alarmist narrative to legitimize the deployment of troops.
19:51The measure was met with unanimous and strong rejection from local authorities.
19:56In this context, authorities in Portland, Oregon and on the west coast of the United States sued President Donald Trump for deploying military forces under the order to use full force.
20:20State Attorney General Dan Rayfield initiated legal proceedings and asserted that the president has exceeded his authority, as he said, while the policies of the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of War have escalated tensions in the city of Portland.
20:37Peaceful protests have turned into violent clashes between protesters and security forces around the headquarters of Immigration and Customs Enforcement ICE.
20:46The attorney general's office assured that the lawsuit aims to protect Oregon and its values.
20:58A gunman opened fire inside a church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel in Michigan during a Sunday service and sent a building ablaze, killing at least four people and injuring eight others.
21:12According to Michigan Police Department authorities, officers shot and killed the suspect before he could cause further casualties at the Holy House.
21:19Police Chief William Ranger stated that rescue teams have not yet finished searching the church and said that some people remain under the rubble in accessible areas.
21:31I have a couple updates for you.
21:37There is a couple additional bodies that we've discovered in the church.
21:41So that makes our total victim count up to four victims.
21:47As I said before, there has already been the suspect who is deceased as well.
21:53So we have five deceased persons from this tragic incident.
22:00Again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this incident that could have been completely avoided.
22:08And it's very tragic, and that's not what our community is.
22:12And I'd also like to acknowledge the heroism of not only the first responders, but the people who were inside that church at the time.
22:23They were shielding the children who were also present within the church, moving them to safety.
22:33Just hundreds of people just practicing their faith.
22:37Just extreme courage, brave, and that's the type of community that we are.
22:44Law enforcement, again, we were on scene within 30 seconds from that original 911 call.
22:51Within eight minutes, that suspect was neutralized in the back parking lot of the church by a DNR officer and a Grambling Township officer.
23:03After this information, we have come to the end of this news brief.
