00:26the brutal repression of protests against the measures promoted by the government of Daniel Novoa.

00:45Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:50We begin with the news.
00:56The General Debate of the 80th United Nations General Assembly kicks off its fifth day.
01:13In this context, the United Nations Security Council rejected a resolution proposed by Russia and China
01:19to delay the re-imposition of sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.
01:24The draft aimed to postpone sanctions by six months to allow more time for diplomatic negotiations.
01:31However, it failed to secure enough support, garnering only four votes in favor with nine against and two abstentions.
01:40This paves the way for the scheduled snapback sanctions to take effect on Saturday evening, including asset freezes, arms embargoes and energetic program restrictions.
01:51In this context, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Arakiqi has firmly reiterated Iran's resolve to never yield to Western pressure over its sovereign nuclear program,
02:08emphasizing the country's commitment to peaceful nuclear development.
02:12Despite the United Nations Security Council's rejection of Russia and China's bid to delay sanctions,
02:18Iran remains steadfast in defending its right to pursue nuclear technology for civilian purposes,
02:25underscoring that its program has always been and will remain dedicated exclusively to peaceful aims.
02:31Arakiqi stressed that diplomacy remains open and vital and that Teheran remains willing to engage in constructive talks to clarify misunderstandings and ensure regional stability.
02:44Iran highlights its continuous cooperation efforts with international agencies and portrays the sanctions as a unilateral attempt to undermine its development and sovereignty.
02:54Diplomacy is not limited to negotiation with the United States.
03:04We have unfortunately a terrible experience of negotiating with the United States.
03:10Diplomacy would never die, but it would be certainly more difficult and more complicated than before.
03:16Iran will never bow to pressure. We respond only to respect. The choice is clear, escalation or diplomacy.
03:26The responsibility lies with those who broke their commitments and undermined international law. And thank you.
03:33Iran's position on snapback is clear. It is illegal, void and has no standing.
03:38The E3, having breached the deal, cannot claim significant non-performance.
03:44Resolution 2231 restrictions will expire permanently on 18 October 2025.
03:51Any attempt to revive or extend them is null and void.
03:56In the United States, on Friday, more voices join in solidarity with the governments and peoples of Venezuela and Cuba.
04:02Amid a severe crisis of multilateralism,
04:1116 countries join their voices to defend the principles of the United Nations Charter
04:18and call for action against unilateral actions.
04:25Cuba strongly rejects the growing military deployment in the Caribbean.
04:31the Caribbean Sea, which violates the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace.
04:38The Tlatlalco Treaty for the prohibition of nuclear weapons in our region, the United Nations Charter and international law.
04:46It constitutes a direct aggression against the Bolivarian Republic and attempts to justify military aggression.
04:52Russia also spoke out against unilateral coercive measures.
04:56Russia also spoke out against unilateral coercive measures.
04:59Russia also spoke out against unilateral coercive measures.
05:05In recent months, this group has become more relevant when we look at the military threats against Venezuela.
05:12We would like to reiterate our strong solidarity with the people and government of Venezuela.
05:23China celebrated Venezuela's leadership in the group of friends in defense of the United Nations Charter.
05:30China opposes the United States interference in Venezuela's internal affairs, and these actions by the United States have been terrible because they have exacerbated the situation in the Caribbean.
05:44China strongly supports Cuba's struggle to defend its sovereignty and calls for Cuba to be removed from the so-called list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
06:02At a crucial moment in human history, the Palestinian ambassador to the unaccused deus of denying her president a visa to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
06:18Nothing is more catastrophic than what is happening where Israel is committing genocide against our people.
06:25causing death, destruction, and death, and using famine as a weapon of war, causing disease, and starvation.
06:42The protest also resonated in the streets of New York,
06:47where musician Roger Waters and Colombian President Gustavo Petro called on young people from all countries to join an army defending Palestine.
07:00All Colombian consulates and embassies in every country in the world have been ordered to seek votes in favor of the liberation of Palestine,
07:11in favor of the united force for peace for Palestine.
07:22As soon as I return to Colombia, I will open up volunteer positions for men and women with military experience, Colombian military experience, which is not just any experience.
07:35We have fought for centuries in the mountains against the Spaniards against invaders among ourselves, to change the world and sometimes to prevent it from changing.
07:50But that Colombian experience must be put at the service of the people of Palestine today.
07:59From the highest tribune of the United Nations, Venezuela defended Palestine.
08:12We stand in solidarity with the heroic people of Palestine, and demand an end to the genocide by the Zionist regime of Israel.
08:21We condemn the attacks against the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
08:28We stand in solidarity with Cuba, and join the world in demanding the lifting of the murderous and criminal blockade.
08:36He called on the United States to respect the sovereignty of his people.
08:40Mr. President, the aggressions against Venezuela in recent years are countless actions of destabilization and conspiracies,
08:56including an attempted assassination with drones, economic warfare, the cruelest expression of which is the 1,042 sanctions that are being criminally imposed against our oil industry,
09:07and the nation's productive sectors, as well as several mercenary incursions.
09:10To all this is now added an absolutely illegal and totally immoral military threat that violates the uncharter, the rights of Venezuela as a sovereign state, and even the laws of the United States itself.
09:27Meanwhile, the climate crisis once again emerged as a major concern at the ungeneral assembly. Once again, island nations called for support to address their unique vulnerabilities and prevent them from being swallowed by the oceans.
09:44Now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telesur English where you'll find news in different formats and news updates and more. We'll be right back, don't go away.

11:36For the office in charge of US foreign policy, the Colombian President allegedly urged US soldiers to disobey President Trump's orders and incite violence.
