00:21In Brazil, Federal Police arrested former President Gary Bolsonaro under preventive measures.
00:30In Palestine, authorities warn about the collapse of the healthcare system due to the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
00:43Hello, welcome from the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Adel Azul Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:00Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino LĂłpez denounced that foreign military exercises in waters near Trinidad and Tobago
01:08constitute a deliberate threat to peace in the region.
01:11Padrino LĂłpez condemned the presence of warships in the area, stating that they are maneuvers to threaten Venezuela.
01:17In addition, the official described the exercises as an aggression against the dignity of his country
01:22and disturbance to the peace of the people of Trinidad.
01:25He also questioned the government of Prime Minister Kamala Persat Bissasar for lending its territory
01:30to host instruments that he considers to be a destruction and aggression.
01:35The Minister of Defense warned that these actions represent a danger to all of South America and the Caribbean.
01:41We regrettably see the waters that barely separate us from a sister nation such as Trinidad and Tobago,
01:56a territory that, from a geographical point of view, is a geological continuation of the Paria Peninsula,
02:03a territory which belonged to the provinces of Venezuela.
02:06Therefore, those waters are not moving right now because of their natural tide,
02:11but rather because of the presence of destroyers moving those waters in an unnatural way,
02:16invading the privacy and tranquility of the Trinidadian people,
02:20and for the only desire and purpose of threatening.
02:23The people of Trinidad are upset and disturbed by the military exercises,
02:35that are not completely unplanned but deliberate in order to threaten Venezuela,
02:40and when they threaten Venezuela, they are threatening an entire continent.
02:44I am referring to the South American continent, and the Caribbean, of course.
02:49Innocent drills do not exist.
02:51There may be planned drills in the world, but here, in this case, it is an aggression against the dignity of the people of Venezuela,
03:08and it is said that the government of Trinidad and Tobago is lending its territory,
03:13degrading its territory and its sovereignty, so that instruments of death and mass destruction of peoples can be placed there.
03:21On Friday, in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier Buu,
03:30described the meeting with the Cuban-American Congresswoman of the far-right Maria Elvira Salazar at the U.S. Congress as interfering.
03:37Although he downplayed the importance of the subcommittee that the legislator presides over, stating that it lacks relevance in the United States,
03:44he questioned the interference in Honduras' internal affairs.
03:47In a meeting convened by Ms. Salazar, not even representatives of President Donald Trump's government participated,
03:53only private organizations and lobbyists attended, who were also questioned for representing private interests
03:59that have confronted the government of President Xiomara Castro for prioritizing the integrity and transparency of Honduras.
04:12In Bolivia, a specific law protects children and adolescents orphaned by femicide,
04:17granting them state support in the areas of economy, health and education,
04:21so they can continue their studies, even at the university level.
04:24A correspondent, Frank Morales, has the story.
04:30The law expressly obliges the state to protect, until they reach adulthood, children and adolescents who are left orphaned,
04:37as a consequence of femicide.
04:42And we continue to suffer because the femicide perpetrator is either in prison or on the run,
04:47the victim of femicide is in the coffin, and the real victims of femicide the collateral victims are the children.
04:55Those children who at first are seen as the poor little orphans and are cared for,
04:59but later, like fish, they begin to be treated as if they smell bad.
05:03What's worse, they suffer abuse and mistreatment in an environment where they should have complete safety.
05:08The law recognizes the payment of 20% of the national minimum wage, about $70 per month,
05:20along with other benefits in favor of this population.
05:23An economic allowance of 20% of the minimum wage is granted, which amounts to about 500 bolivianos per month,
05:35along with a food package especially for children under 5 years old, access to education, and access to healthcare until the age of 18.
05:42However, if it is demonstrated that they continue studying, this support is extended until they reach 25 years of age.
05:54Bolivia is one of the few countries that has this type of legal provisions,
06:00which are in fact mandatory for states according to international agreements.
06:05It reaffirms and also demands the duty of due diligence.
06:10This duty of due diligence urges the state to comply with international treaties and conventions.
06:16This new law is based on the Bel M du Pera Convention and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
06:21In this sense, it establishes that the state must protect and give priority attention to boys and girls
06:26who have lost their mother or father in a situation of femicide.
06:30In a situation of femicide, the police act first and immediately afterward the child protection offices, which depend on the municipalities,
06:44the orphans are placed in the care of the maternal grandparents, if the victim is the mother.
06:49According to the latest record from the Observatory for the Enforcement of Rights, between 2016 and 2024, there were approximately 877 children orphaned due to femicide.
07:02What happens is that when a child loses their mother and the Office for the Defense of Children and Adolescents intervenes,
07:08the first step is to separate them from the family, which is the correct action and the most appropriate protective measure.
07:14However, this also creates an environment of vulnerability and lack of protection for the child.
07:23The law, enacted at the beginning of this month by the previous government, requires a census of orphans who are victims of femicide.
07:31It confirmed that the majority of cases occur under the influence of alcohol, and therefore establishes a 1% tax on those beverages to help finance part of this protection program.
07:42In this country, an average of 100 femicides are recorded each year.

08:12Welcome back.
08:22Brazilian Federal Police arrested former President Jair Bolsonaro under preventive measures ordered by the country's Federal Supreme Court.
08:29On Saturday, officials arrived at Bolsonaro's home in Brasilia to carry out the due process of transferring him to police headquarters.
08:36Floyd's report at the measure was taken with the aim of maintaining public order and security in the country.
08:41Since August, the far-right leader had been under house arrest at his residence for failing to comply with the precautionary measures established in that case.
08:56Mexico City's Azteca Stadium is racing to meet a June 2026 World Cup deadline as crews push ahead with renovations to modernize the iconic venue.
09:05Several teams of engineers, architects, and builders began construction and modernization work on the stadium.
09:11The team's main objectives are to add new lighting, renovate the changing rooms, redesign the entrance to the field, and improve the ventilation systems before the tournament's opening match.
09:21According to stadium director Felix Aguirre, the renovation meets FIFA's requirements and aims to ensure the long-term future of the venue.
09:28On the other hand, several experts have stated that next year's World Cup could lead to unfavorable developments such as gentrification price increases and real estate speculation.
09:41On Friday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel received UN Special Rapporteur Alina Duhan at the Palace of Revolution in Havana during the meeting.
09:53The President discussed how US imposed sanctions have affected the lives of all Cubans.
09:58The official task with evaluating the negative effects of unilateral coercive measures received a detailed report from the Cuban President,
10:06who highlighted not only the intensification of the blockade but also the fraudulent inclusion of Cuba on the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.
10:14During the meeting, which also included Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and other government officials,
10:19the President discussed the economic and social damage caused by these measures,
10:23emphasizing the difficulties faced during the recovery efforts in eastern Cuba after Hurricane Melissa,
10:28as well as the illegality of the lists drawn up by the White House.
10:33I insist on using the term intensification because it truly describes the nature of the blockade at this time,
10:47and it has a lot to do with the measures Trump implemented during his first administration to intensify it,
10:52as well as with Cuba's inclusion on the list of countries that supposedly support terrorism.
10:57The whole idea of the list is completely incoherent, not to mention false, but it is incoherent, even within US foreign policy itself.
11:05Let me tell you something Trump included us on the terrorist list during his first administration,
11:10Biden kept us there, and at the end of his term, he removed us.
11:14But when Trump took office again, within days, we were back on the list.
11:18It's hard to understand how the criteria for including a country on a list that is supposed to be as serious as this one for the United States,
11:25can change so quickly, but the reality is that being on that list is a tremendous blow to the aspirations of the Cuban people.
11:33It's a tremendous blow to the aspirations of the Cubans.
11:36Cuban President Miguel DĂaz Canel during his visit to the province of OlguĂn,
11:40so it provides the recovery efforts and preventive measures caused by Hurricane Melissa.
11:44The President spoke with the residents of Cueto and Zagua de Tánamo,
11:48two municipalities that suffered severe flooding due to the overflow of rivers.
11:52In turn, thousands of homes have been affected in the area,
11:55while electricity and communication services have almost fully recovered.
11:59DĂaz Canel also instructed to find a definitive solution to the water supply
12:04and to reinforce the epidemiological surveillance to prevent diseases such as stingy fever.
12:08Similarly, the Cuban President emphasized that the population of OlguĂn is not alone
12:13and that the revolution is advancing in this battle to address the situation.
12:20The Colombian President rejected the aggressions by the U.S. government and warned that,
12:27if there is no rectification, he will initiate a legal battle in the U.S. courts
12:31when his presidential term ends.
12:33The measure responds to the inclusion of Gustavo Petro in blacklists
12:36and to the false accusation of being a drug trafficker.
12:40Likewise, he questioned the application of the term terrorist,
12:43affirming that a young person who protests a Latin American migrant
12:46or someone who commits an offense out of economic necessity does not fit that definition.
12:52He argued that the true terrorists are the imperialist U.S. government,
12:56which kills innocents in boats and during peaceful protests.
13:00Finally, he clarified that this legal battle will begin once his mandate ends,
13:04although a period of negotiation will be opened beforehand
13:07as a gesture of political coherence before proceeding in the courts.
13:18But they couldn't demonstrate at all why I'm on the Clinton list.
13:21Why does Mr. Trump call me a drug trafficker? Why does he slander me?
13:42I'm very eager. I'm going to allow a period for negotiations, a timeframe,
13:45because I am consistent with my beliefs.
13:55But if not, I will fight this legally in the United States.
14:05I'll have the time because I'll no longer be President of the Republic.
14:12And in Peru, during the government of elected President José Heri,
14:15the country reached its highest homicide rate since 2017.
14:19Since October 10th, Peru has reported the highest daily homicide rate in seven years
14:25under the current government, according to reports from data analysis experts.
14:31In total, 213 homicides were recorded in the country,
14:35according to an average of 5.53 per day, based on the death information system.
14:41Despite extending the state of emergency in Lima and Callao,
14:44Heri's measures have failed to contain insecurity,
14:47and it is estimated that the homicides are being committed
14:50with an increasingly higher level of violence.
14:52And in Chile, presidential candidate José Antonio Cast from the Republican Party
15:04attacks the migrant community, fighting to expel them if elected in the upcoming December 14th runoff.
15:10The far-right candidate Cast warned that illegal migrants have 111 days to leave the country voluntarily,
15:16or they will be detained and expelled without their belongings,
15:19and will be banned from re-entering the South American nation.
15:22He also stated that he will impose sanctions on anyone who transports, delivers goods,
15:27or assists irregular migrants in any way.
15:29Cast's far-right political model threatens to be even more extremist than the current government,
15:34with the implementation of racist and neoliberal policies that undermine citizens' rights.
15:40of course.

16:27In Palestine, authorities warned about the collapse of the healthcare system
16:31due to Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
16:33Authorities warned of a serious shortage of vital supplies, including medicines.
16:37They say that Palestinians are dying while waiting for treatment,
16:40as hospitals do not have the resources to treat different diseases.
16:45Though it is also highlighted the lack of a constant supply of fuel
16:48to keep the power plants of healthcare facilities running.
16:51On Friday, the United Nations Children's Fund reported that since the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect,
17:03Israel has killed at least 67 Palestinian children.
17:08According to the report, presented by the organization's spokesperson, Ricardo Pires,
17:13among the victims is a baby girl who was killed during an airstrike against Han Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip this Thursday.
17:20Pires described the pattern of executions by the genocide regime as shocking,
17:24and stated that since October 2023, more than 20,000 children have been killed or injured in the Palestinian enclave.
17:30UNICEF has also reaffirmed its rejection of the use of hunger as a weapon of war,
17:36and points out the devastating effect that Israel's attack has had on Palestinian childhood.
17:49And in Palestine, a third intifada could erupt in the occupied West Bank in response to the escalation of Israeli violence.
17:55The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine denounced that the increase in violence by Israelis, acts of vandalism,
18:03and attacks on Palestinian civilians revealed a deeply entrenched fascist and racist doctrine among settler gangs.
18:09Additionally, the international community condemned the illegal Israeli settlements.
18:13It is important to note that the Saanese regime has intensified violence in the West Bank since October 7, 2023,
18:19when it launched a Genosadal War against Gaza.
18:21Since then, Israeli forces and settlers have murdered hundreds of Palestinians in the occupied territory.
18:35In other topics in Nigeria, 227 people were kidnapped from a Catholic school in the north of the country.
18:40Nigerian media reported that armed groups arrived from motorcycles and fired into the air
18:44before kidnapping the students and teachers from the Catholic primary and secondary schools of St. Mary in the area of Aguara.
18:50According to the authorities' report, the incident occurred around 2 a.m.
18:54Authorities have also confirmed that some of the students were able to escape from the attackers
18:59and were later reunited with their parents.
19:01Further part, the police and security forces immediately launched a search-and-rescue operation.
19:06The G20 summit opened on Saturday in South Africa with an ambitious agenda to make progress on solving some of the long-standing problems
19:21that have afflicted the world's poorest nations.
19:24The event was presided over by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in which he declared that the desire for development
19:30in the Global South and on the African continent would be reflected in the agenda of this major forum.
19:35This edition has a special focus on climate change mitigation and its impact on other nations,
19:40continuing the stance defended by South African Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Dion George at the COP30 in Brazil.
19:49The main challenge this year is the boycott by the United States on the grounds that South Africa is applying racist policies
19:55against whites and persecuting its white Africaner minority.
19:59In Spain, family members of deceased residents protested to demand truth, justice and the resignation of the President of the Community of Madrid,
20:13Isabel DĂaz Ayuso, for her management of nursing homes during the pandemic.
20:17Health care associations and social movements marched through several streets in central Madrid to the government headquarters
20:24to denounce the non-referral protocols applied by DĂaz Ayuso's administration in 2020.
20:29The measures consisted of prohibiting the transfer to hospitals of thousands of elderly people with dependency or cognitive impairment.
20:36According to the figures, at least 7,290 residents died without being transferred.
