Politicians have demanded that Homes England take urgent action to end the long-running stalemate over Farnham’s Woolmead site.
This month, the Farnham Herald launched its ‘We Mead Action: Sort Out Woolmead’ campaign, demanding that the eyesore on East Street be resolved.
This week, both the local Conservative MP and Liberal Democrat campaigners say Homes England must act to deliver homes or community use on the land.
Greg Stafford, MP for Farnham and Bordon, said the current situation was “totally unacceptable.”

00:00So, Greg, we're standing here in front of Warmead and it's a bit of a home site really, it's all shocking.
00:07So, what's your feeling about how we move forward for the people of Holmen?
00:11Well, this site has been derelict now for so many years.
00:15It really needs to be built and to provide the homes that we need in this area.
00:20Now, I've written to Homes England, who own the site.
00:23They bought it through a fund from the last government.
00:26I've written to the Secretary of State and I've had no response from either.
00:29The only thing I've had is a parliamentary question which suggests that not only are they still looking to go out to market,
00:35but they might even be looking to resubmit a new planning application which will only delay this further.
00:41Now, what I'm saying is we can't have any more delays.
00:44We need to set a deadline so that whoever responsible, whether that be Homes England, whether that be Waverley as the planning authority,
00:50somebody needs to take charge and actually get this moving because the residents of Farnham have put up with this for far too long.
00:57And are you giving them a deadline on this before you start kicking up more of a fuss about it?
01:02Well, what I want to know is who is responsible.
01:04And I want to know who is responsible and who's going to take charge of this.
01:07And I'm going to say that that's a matter of months, if not weeks.
01:10And if they don't, then I'm going to be raising this as the highest point I can within government
01:14because somebody has to take charge because we can't carry on like this.
