00:39Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Zoo Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:44We begin with the news.
00:54Cuba celebrates the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Defense Committees of the Revolution,
01:03the largest organization in the country.
01:05This Sunday, tributes and celebrations are held with the aim of preserving the space of unity, patriotism and social commitment.
01:12On the initiative of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Filo Castro,
01:15the Defense Committee keeps its revolutionary essence alive in the face of the new social realities brought about by the U.S. blockade.
01:22The organization carries out surveillance work in defense of Cuba's independence and sovereignty.
01:33And a solidarity event was held in the United States in support of Cuba,
01:37demanding an end to the U.S. government's blockade of the country
01:40and its removal from the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
01:43The keynote speaker, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez,
01:47explained the economic and energy challenges Cuba faces due to the economic and financial blockade imposed by the United States government over six decades ago.
01:56He also highlighted Cuba's achievements in medicine, including biotechnology and pharmacy,
02:01as well as its implementation of renewable energy sources to mitigate the country's energy problems.
02:07The event concluded with a just tribute to the late African-American human rights activist Asata Shakur.
02:19And Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cuban President Miguel DĂaz Canelo exchanged congratulations on the 65th anniversary of China-Cuban diplomatic relations established on September 28, 1960.
02:32The leaders highlighted the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in recent years focused on building a shared socialist future.
02:39The mutual congratulations between Xi Jinping and DĂaz Canelo
02:46officially marked the commemorative date of six and a half decades of diplomatic relations.
02:52The ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco Silva, explained the historical role of the Cuban Revolution in recognizing the Chinese socialist government established in 1949.
03:04Cuba became the first Latin American country not only to break with geographical fatalism, not only to break with the Monroe Doctrine,
03:17but also to establish diplomatic relations with the new China, recognizing the government of the People's Republic of China as its sole and legitimate representative.
03:27It should be remembered that at that time, China was not a member of the United Nations, and Cuba also defended, as an act of historical justice and as an act of independence,
03:40that the People's Republic of China should be a member of the United Nations in its own right.
03:46Chinese-Cuban cooperation includes student exchange dating back to the early years of bilateral relations.
03:56Xu Xinjiang, a professor and one of the first Chinese students to travel to Cuba, shared the experience with the educational ties between the two socialist countries,
04:08and his work translating important works of Cuban literature, including Marta Rojas, The Trial of Moncada.
04:17I attended the School of Letters and History, but I also attended a diplomacy class at night.
04:30Over the course of three years, we went to the Cuban countryside three times, during the sugar harvest, to cut sugar cane.
04:45We visited once on a state farm.
04:52Another time at an agricultural cooperative, and a third time on a farmer's farm.
05:03For me, it was a great experience to learn about the Cuban countryside, and the cooperative movement.
05:13Earlier this year, President Xi Jinping pledged that China continued support for Cuba,
05:18in the face of the United States' blockade against the island.
05:22During Diaz-Canel's subsequent visit to Beijing, the leader signed multiple cooperation agreements,
05:28and issued a joint declaration on building a community of the future between the two nations.
05:35Bruno Fauci, Beijing, China, for Telesur.
05:43In Cuba, authorities report damage due to heavy rains in the country's east.
05:56Local authorities reported that the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo were the most affected by the tropical depression,
06:02which left streets blocked, homes underwater, and several communities cut off.
06:06They added that in the province of Santiago de Cuba, at least five people were rescued after a river burst its banks.
06:13But in the province of Guantanamo, medical care was provided to residents, and people in at-risk areas were evacuated.

07:40The history we have lived through is long, deep, and intense, and at its center has been a dispute.
07:47The dispute, the dispute over a nationalist, Latin Americanist, democratic, popular, alternative to capitalism, to exploitation, to subordination, and dependency.
08:01And the determination of the U.S. Empire to impose on us a model that was always called neo-colonial.
08:08And which now purports to be a directly colonial model, to subjugate us, enslave us, bring about a change of regime, and steal our oil, gas, mineral, gold, land, water, and other wealth.

13:40that despite the clarity of international law, which prohibits the death penalty,
13:44Tel Aviv insists on codifying this crime and granting it supposed legal coverage,
13:49which confirms once again that the occupation state acts as if it were above the law and impenetrable.
13:56It also reveals the failure of the international community and its systematic complicity with the moderate colonial regime.

15:20which includes the installation of a temporary technocratic Palestinian government to administer Gaza.
15:25Ultimately, the proposal seeks to create a pathway to a Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution.

16:08Protesters demand for an end to the war contrasts with the continuing military operations as diplomatic efforts involving Netanyahu and Trump unfold.
16:18He has sabotaged every chance for a deal, blown up contacts, bombed the intermediaries, incited against the hostage families, the angel of sabotage and death.
16:36The game is over, literally. The whole world sees who he is. And the whole world, including President Trump, is determined to stop him from sabotaging again.
16:49We look you in the eye, Netanyahu. If you return without a deal, a hell you cannot even imagine awaits you here.

19:12The bridge is a key link in Guizhou's expressway network, reducing travel time between two banks from about two hours to roughly two minutes.
19:21Guizhou's rock terrain has driven the need for extensive bridge infrastructure to support its road network.
