00:58Hello and welcome to From the South. My name is Belen de los Santos.
01:02I'm from the Tresor Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
01:05We now begin with the information.
01:18This Friday, a new group of Venezuela migrants arrived at the Simón Bolívar International Airport
01:23from the United States, including a second group of seven children that had been kidnapped by the U.S. government.
01:30The 51st flight was welcomed by the Minister of Interior Justice and Peace, Diocedo Cabello,
01:36alongside Camila Fabri, president of the Back to the Homeland mission.
01:41The families of the repatriated minors were also present at the airport, ensuring an immediate and heartfelt reunion.
01:48In statements to the press, Cabello described the event as a miracle,
01:53made possible through continuous dialogue between the Bolivarian government and the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
02:00He also emphasized the ongoing efforts and persistent calls for the safe return of all the children
02:08who have been separated from their families in the U.S.
02:12They are back, back in their homeland.
02:23They are back to love, to life, to hope.
02:26And right now we are sharing with them here a moment of their parents' happiness.
02:30And now they will share together, embrace them, love them.
02:36And we will continue moving forward.
02:38We will not cease until we bring.
02:41The president has pledged to bring every last Venezuelan they have kidnapped,
02:45any who is detained anywhere in the world.
02:48Today, a new group has arrived.
02:51237 of them.
02:53And with this good news, the good news continue for Venezuela.
02:59Good things continue for our country.
03:03We should all rejoice that these boys and girls have returned to their homeland to be reunited with their families.
03:09And representatives of a Venezuelan citizen filed on Thursday a lawsuit
03:18before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security against the Trump administration
03:22for having kidnapped him at the Bukele concentration camp in El Salvador.
03:28Neyver León Rangel is 27 years old,
03:32and he is part of the group of 252 citizens rescued by the government of President Nicolás Maduro.
03:39From Venezuela, he announced that the League of United Latin American Citizens
03:43and the Democracy Defenders Fund have brought his case before the Department of Security,
03:50which has refused to comment to the press.
03:54Venezuelan Leon Rangel claims compensation from $1.3 million for damages.
04:01Norman Eise from the Defense Fund assures that at least a dozen similar cases are underway.
04:07Moreover, he encouraged the SECA victims to imitate his representative
04:12in combating abuse, violation of rights and impunity.
04:16In Venezuela's National Electoral Council, the CNE welcomed on Friday a group of international observers
04:39ahead of upcoming Sunday's elections.
04:42CNE's President Elvis Amoroso highlighted that the observers are renowned intellectuals and personalities
04:49from universities of different parts of the world
04:52and stressed that they represent another guarantee for the good results of the upcoming elections.
04:58Amoroso also emphasized that they will be exceptional witnesses of how a highly democratic and peace-loving people
05:05will once again vote to elect their authorities in defense of their sovereignty and self-determination.
05:17And as Venezuela prepares for Sunday's Election Day, we go live to Caracas at this moment
05:22where our correspondent Bruno Falsi has more on this electoral process.
05:26Let's go.
05:27I'm Bruno Falsi, correspondent of Telesur here in Venezuela.
05:33Now we found ourselves in the headquarter of the young people here in Venezuela.
05:39They are organizing their first popular election where they're going to vote for the projects
05:46to develop their region, their communes.
05:50There are more than 5,338 communes in Venezuela.
05:55And the young people are going to choose between seven projects in each of these communes
06:02to be elected in the next Sunday.
06:05They're going to vote for two of these seven projects.
06:09This is a historical moment in Venezuela where the young people are in the power
06:15in this government and in this revolutionary process.
06:20At the same time, on Sunday, 27th of July, it's going to happen the municipal election where
06:2826, 23 political parties of the opposition and 13 political parties of the government clash
06:39again in the dispute between Bolivarian power and opposition.
06:44There are more than 335 mayors going to be elected and 2,471 consular in this, again, this
06:59fight between opposition and government, showing that here in Venezuela, the democracy is not
07:07only in votes in the clash between opposition and government, but it's a participative democracy
07:16where people construct their lives every day in the politics in their regional communes.
07:27Thank you, Bruno, for your insights on this topic.
07:36And now we have a short break coming up, but first, remember you can join us on TikTok
07:40at Telesub English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
07:46Stay with us.
08:17Welcome back from the South.
08:18And to celebrate its 20th anniversary, Telesub presented its book, The Eye of America on the
08:24World.
08:25In collaboration with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America, Alba TCP,
08:30Telesub presented the book this Friday.
08:33This work showcases the multi-platform's two-decade journey of news coverage, establishing itself
08:40as the voice and image of Latin America and the global South.
08:43During his speech and analysis of the book, the Minister of Communication and Culture, Freddy
08:48Ñáñez, emphasized that Telesub has fought to combat hegemony and revealed the truth about
08:55what is happening in the world since its inception.
08:57In this context, Bolivian President Luis Arce congratulated Telesub on its 20th anniversary,
09:10highlighting the multi-platform's work in denouncing injustices.
09:14Through a post on his Telegram account, the head of state shared that we salute the 20th anniversary
09:21of Telesub, a news network that has always stood out for its responsible and truthful
09:27coverage of events affecting the world's people.
09:30President Arce also added that its courage in seeking the truth and denouncing injustices
09:36is essential to defending democracy and building a world with greater social justice for all.
09:42Congratulations.
10:14During the interview, the Bolivarian head of state referred to the resumption of operations
10:23of Trebron in Venezuelan territory, the release of the latest group of migrants kidnapped in
10:29El Salvador, the conflict in Ukraine, and the Israeli genocide in Palestine, among other topics.
10:36President Maduro also insisted in the creation of a World Peace Summit and highlighted the coming
10:42elections in Venezuela on Sunday as another phase of the democratic process that the South American
10:49nation is implementing.
10:50We now move on to other topics.
10:58Cuba is preparing to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and
11:05Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.
11:06These attacks laid the foundation for the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
11:11Cubans are holding mobilizations in honor of the upcoming holiday, although the main event will
11:17take place on Saturday, July 26, in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
11:22The city is decorated to welcome hundreds of people and at least 23 delegations from countries
11:27attending the festival, also known as National Rebellion Day.
11:32The holiday is celebrated annually to honor those who died during the event.
11:42And on Thursday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order allowing states and cities
11:48to move homeless individuals off the streets and into treatment centers.
11:52This comes despite Trump's cuts to social spending budgets for all state agencies.
11:58The presidential document orders the transfer to long-term care facilities for humane treatment.
12:07The president urged Attorney General Pan Bondi to take legal action to remove the restrictions
12:12preventing local governments from complying with this guideline.
12:16The White House stated its intention to redirect federal funds towards effective methods
12:22of addressing the housing shortage.
12:25However, civil rights activists argue that the president only wants to take action
12:30that will mask his administration's failure.
12:38And this July 25 is the International Day of Women of African Dissent,
12:43a day that is closely related to the International Women's Day,
12:47as it is another opportunity to vindicate the rights and dignity of women.
12:52The date was chosen to commemorate the first Congress that brought together
12:57more than 400 Latin American and Caribbean women in 1992 in the Dominican Republic.
13:03This Congress addressed issues related to sexism, racial discrimination, poverty, migration and violence.
13:10At this meeting, the network of Afro-Latin American, Afro-Caribbean and Diaspora women
13:15was born a space to fight for the dignity and rights of black women as false citizens.
13:21This cause can be supported by joining the campaigns that are launched each year
13:25by organizations and associations that advocate the cause,
13:29such as the network of Afro-Latin American, Afro-Caribbean and Diaspora women.
13:34We continue now with other topics.
13:41Thailand has evacuated more than 138,000 people along the border with Cambodia,
13:47while the country's leaders warned that cross-border clashes could lead to war.
13:52The clashes that began on Thursday resumed early on Friday, according to the Thai army,
13:58as the two countries fought their bloodiest military battles in more than a decade.
14:03In this context, Thai authorities said that 138,000 people from four border provinces
14:10had been evacuated, while the death toll in the country stood at 15, including 14 civilians.
14:17For its part, the Cambodian national government has not provided details
14:21about the victims or civilian evacuations, but a local official in Oda Manki has stated
14:27that one civilian has been killed and five were injured, and that 1,500 families had been evacuated.
14:42Meanwhile, thousands of Cambodians living in Thailand returned to their homeland.
14:46They did so after the Marine Corps' task force of Chantamburi issued a special order
14:53for contemporary cross-border travelings, as clashes had led to the border closure earlier.
15:00Thus, the opening was leveraged by around 3,000 Cambodian workers
15:05who flocked to the Banlim border checkpoint in Chantamburi province.

15:40Welcome back to From the South.
15:43The second edition of the People's Summit for Peace and Against War
15:47began this Friday in Caracas, Venezuela.
15:50At the opening ceremony, Elba TCP Executive Secretary Randar Peña
15:55stated that the summit aims to provide a space for dialogue, reflection, and action
16:00to save humanity from the many forms of fascist aggression.
16:05Peña mentioned that U.S. imperialism has not seen the change of era
16:10in the regional and global scenarios, which explains its aggressive and criminal reactions.
16:16The meeting was attended by delegations from more than 70 countries
16:20and was a space to denounce the crimes committed against the people of the Middle East,
16:25with emphasis on the genocide committed by Israel against Palestine.
16:29In this context, Elba TCP's Executive Secretary Randar Peña touched on the importance
16:40of the electoral cycle that closes with Sunday, July 27th election.
16:45We are closing what could be understood as a virtuous electoral cycle.
16:54This coming July 27th, the Venezuelan people once again have a call to action for democracy.
17:05This coming July 27th, the Venezuelan people will have the opportunity to elect their municipal
17:11leaders.
17:12More than 335 mayors will be elected by millions of Venezuelans.
17:18Comrades, this coming July 27th, there will not only be an election to choose the mayors,
17:27but the youth will have a beautiful and new opportunity to choose the projects
17:31that allow for the development of young people in each of the communal circuits.
17:36And the Venezuelan foreign minister, Ivan Gil, stated that the summit allows the peoples
17:43of the world to confront the great powers through justice.
17:48And today, that resistance transformed into offensive and transformed into victory,
17:56and that allows us to convene this great summit and allows us to offer our space,
18:03our land, our homeland, our political strength, to all the peoples of the world to demand,
18:10to urge the leaders of the world, to urge the great powers, the medium powers,
18:16the whole world, that it is necessary once and for all, to initiate a true process of peace,
18:25peace, with justice, as the Bolivarian peace.
18:34Organizations denounce that Israel's intentional use of famine as a weapon of war in the Gaza Strip
18:40has left 25 percent of children and pregnant women with severe malnutrition.
18:45In light of the humanitarian disaster facing the enclave,
18:49human rights organizations have condemned the deliberate use of starvation as a weapon by the
18:55Israeli authorities, which has reached unprecedented levels.
18:58In this regard, they called it unconceivable that an entire population is deprived of food,
19:03while Israeli forces carry out daily massacres at distribution points.
19:08Precisely, the Ministry of Health of Gaza has informed that over 1,000 people have been killed
19:14and some 7,200 have been injured at these locations since the start of the U.S.-Israeli-sponsored food distribution plan.
19:29Venezuela welcomes the decision of French President Emmanuel Macron
19:33to recognize the state of Palestine within its 1967 border with East Jerusalem as its capital.
19:40In a statement, the Venezuelan government said that the occupation of Palestine began in 1948
19:46with the Nagba, when over 700,000 Palestinians were displaced.
19:51This marked the start of decades of apartheid and colonization.
19:56He affirmed that today, in the face of genocide in Gaza,
19:59with hunger, bombing and forced displacement as weapons,
20:03silence is complicity.
20:05There is no possible neutrality.
20:07In closing, the government also states that Venezuela reaffirms its steadfast commitment
20:12to Palestine and calls on all states to recognize and protect its people.
20:18The Palestinian cause is a cause for all of humanity,
20:22one of justice, legality and sovereignty.
