00:00Like hundreds of thousands of other Haitians,
00:03Katia-Louise Charles and her family have lost almost everything
00:07to the gang violence engulfing the country.
00:10The 34-year-old fled her home last year along with her husband and three other children.
00:15Their community, Soleno, was one of the last in Port-au-Prince to resist the armed gangs.
00:21When I was living in Soleno, I can't say I was living 100%.
00:26About 90% of the time I was fine because I was at home.
00:30I wasn't in the situation I am now.
00:34I was at home doing business, my kids were going to school, and I slept comfortably.
00:40The situation I am in now is totally different.
00:44It's not good at all.
00:45When I was in Soleno, things were better.
00:48Now I'm living a catastrophic life.
00:51Life is not good at all.
00:53The family now lives in a makeshift shelter that barely protects them from the weather.
01:02They sleep on plastic sheets padded by grey blankets.
01:07Life is very complicated for me.
01:09I am asking for help so that I can get out of the situation.
01:13Since I got here, it has been very humiliating.
01:17All I dream about now is leaving this camp so that my children can go to school,
01:21graduate from high school, and be useful to society.
01:29For many Haitians like Charles, the only hope lies in more international assistance.
01:34But for now, nothing is guaranteed.
