New Kenyan police contingent arrives in Haiti to combat gang violence

It is the fifth contingent of Kenyan police to arrive on the violence-battered island since the start of the UN-backed police mission. The 230 police offers join an existing force of more than 700 Kenyan policemen already in Haiti.

00:01These Kenyan police officers have just arrived in Haiti.
00:05They are part of the multinational UN-backed support mission for local police forces, launched in 2023.
00:12On 1 October, the UN approved a much larger international security mission, called the Gang Suppression Force.
00:20We have enabled well-synchronized operations that have dealt significant blows to the gangs tormenting this nation.
00:28This unity of purpose has been essential in mobilizing all available resources toward a single objective.
