00:11On Friday afternoon, while Industrial Relations Officer of the PSA, Kesta Thomas, spoke with monthly paid employees,
00:18an alderman with the corporation apologized to workers and gave an update.
00:22I am sorry that you all have to be outside here for this reason.
00:31We were just assured in the council that you will be paid for later by Monday.
00:38Union representative asked for greater dialogue with the corporation, especially on matters like late payment of salaries.
00:47When we spoke to the alderman, we realized it's not a government problem from central government.
00:52It was tardiness on behalf of the administration of the San Fernando Corporation.
00:58So they need to know who is the biller who have them getting paid late.
01:03The San Fernando City Corporation is PNM-run.
01:07When contacted, Mayor Robert Parris said central government processes and approves all payments for all workers of every corporation.
01:15He says for over a month, the corporation's CEO, chief treasurer, accountant and staff of the Ministry of Rural Development and local government
01:24have been speaking on matters of short pay and no pay.
01:28He says workers' monthly salaries include councillors, aldermen, municipal police and administrative staff.
01:35And it is his hope that the money from what he has been hearing has been approved.
01:40And it is his birth to all of the monthly paid categories of workers.
