00:00First, Donnie, let's show you the numbers currently.
00:02It's 60 home runs for Cal Raleigh and a 954 OPS.
00:06Aaron Judge, way ahead in average, way ahead in OPS,
00:11and behind in home runs and behind in runs driven in,
00:14and also, of course, the position factor here,
00:16which has helped Cal Raleigh.
00:17But I guess I didn't realize, Donnie, in asking,
00:19and again, not asking people in baseball about this,
00:23is that you can't go wrong with either player.
00:26That's the problem with this MVP award,
00:28is that I believe, if I'm not mistaken,
00:30in the last 10 years,
00:31there's only been a handful of players
00:34that have had a war above nine,
00:36and both players are doing it this year.
00:39It's just a rare scenario where you have two players
00:42that definitely deserve the MVP.
00:44Raleigh is the favorite.
00:46Judge has fallen back to plus 155.
00:49If Judge goes bananas this weekend, maybe he wins it.
00:53But I've come to the decision here
00:55that it could be either guy,
00:57and I think it's gonna be okay.
00:58I mean, I think Raleigh's the MVP,
00:59but according to people who I talk to,
01:02either guy, it's okay that they win.
01:04You're absolutely correct.
01:06Both of these guys, if you could split the award,
01:08they would do that, because here's what's happening.
01:10It's not like the BCS back in the day in college football.
01:12Run it through the computer, spit it out,
01:14because it would say Aaron Judge.
01:15All the analytical numbers, for the most part,
01:17are leaning towards Aaron Judge,
01:18but we're human beings that vote on this award.
01:20And sometimes we feel the need to say,
01:22well, Aaron Judge is always there.
01:23He's gonna win an MVP,
01:24and the future already has an MVP.
01:25This is Cal Raleigh's year.
01:27Why don't you just give it to him?
01:28And that's not a fair assessment of Cal Raleigh's season.
01:30Can you imagine?
01:31And we talk about this,
01:32playing the outfield, playing shortstop,
01:33playing first base, or being a DH.
01:35All different.
01:35But you know what's completely different?
01:37Playing catcher for the majority of the season.
01:39I don't like to squat five minutes here,
01:41let alone squat for nine innings,
01:42and do it maybe 150 plus times
01:44in a Major League Baseball season.
01:46Cal Raleigh's been phenomenal.
01:47And I said midsummer, Craig.
01:48How is it gonna take here for Cal Raleigh to win the MVP?
01:51He's gotta hit at least 60 home runs
01:53without Judge hitting 60 home runs,
01:55and he's done that.
01:56I would be fine either way,
01:57but just being a fan of the game,
01:58boy, I would love to see Cal Raleigh take this down, Craig.
02:00I really would.
