Ebola outbreak: Eleven new cases confirmed in DR Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo is grappling with a new outbreak of Ebola, as health officials have confirmed eleven additional cases in the Bulape Health Zone of Kasai Province.

00:00Eleven new cases of Ebola have been reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo around the Bulapi Health Zone in Kasai province.
00:08The outbreak remains geographically confined to six affected health areas in Bulapi.
00:13Ten deceased patients who were not sampled and tested were also reclassified as probable cases, according to the medics.
00:21The Bulapi Health Zone has so far recorded over 57 cases, including 35 deaths.
00:27There are five confirmed cases among health workers.
00:31Cases range from 0 to 65-year-old, with the age group 0 to 9 years being the most affected, accounting for 23% of the total cases.
00:41Only 400 initial doses of Ebola vaccine have been dispatched, with the remainder to be delivered later, according to the WHO.
00:48The operation has been hampered by limited access and scarce funds.
00:53The latest Ebola outbreak is Congo 16 since 1976 and is caused by the Zaire species, named after the country's former name.
