More health workers strike in Ituri province, at the heart of Congo’s Ebola outbreak

More health workers went on strike in Bunia in eastern Congo on Wednesday, becoming the latest group to walk off the job over unpaid salaries at the center of the country's Ebola outbreak.

00:12Health professionals and other frontline workers barricaded the entrance to Borneo General Hospital,
00:17saying they have not received any compensation despite working under difficult conditions.
00:24They keep telling us it will be okay, but we don't need to be told it will be okay.
00:30We need our money.
00:33Since we started the job two and a half months ago, we haven't received anything.
00:38We are suffering the consequences because of the community situation.
00:42We save lives in the community, and to this day, it's like they are biased in who they pay.
00:48They aren't paying us.
00:49The DRC has been battling the Ebola outbreak caused by the rare Bundibu Guevara since May 15.

01:00another one of the hardest-hit towns in this Ebola outbreak, citing similar grievances.
01:07What I see are health care workers and Ebola response personnel doing good work,
01:12but they aren't being paid.
01:13As soon as they ask for their money, things get complicated.
01:19Two months since the onset, the outbreak continues to spread faster than health officials can track,
01:24despite an expanding response.
01:27At least 80% of new cases are emerging from unknown chains of transmission,
01:31according to the World Health Organization.
