00:00Welcome everyone. So today we are going to understand a very nice math problem which says log of 2x equals to 3 log 2.
00:09And lot of people realized that the answer for this one was 3. But that's incorrect. Now why is it like that?
00:16And why they thought that the answer was 3? Because they thought that here the log and log n get cancelled.
00:22So we are left with 2x equals to 3 and 2. There is no sign between 3 and 2. That means this is multiplication.
00:27So divide both sides by 2. So answer for x comes out to be 3. Now this is absolutely incorrect.
00:38The reason for that is that in log whenever you have a number ahead of log. Okay.
00:48You need to take the number in the index. Only then you can think of cancelling the logs on both sides of the equal to me.
00:56Okay. So here we have log 2x equals to log 2 raise to 3.
01:06Okay. Now the logs can get cancelled on taking anti-log on both sides.
01:10We can say that 2x equals to what? 2 cubed, right? That is 8. In order to find the value of x, we will divide both sides by 2.
01:20Therefore, I can say that the value of x for this particular question is just 4.
01:27I hope you understood how to solve these kind of questions.
01:31That's it for today. I will see you in the next video.
