Twelve-year-old Mariah Seenath suffered multiple blows to her head and died as a result of blunt force trauma.

That was the finding of the autopsy on Monday carried out at the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park .

00:13The San Fernando East secondary student had left her grandmother's home early on Saturday morning to walk home.
00:20And hours later, barking dogs led residents to her lifeless body on an overgrown path near the recreation ground.
00:27No one has yet been detained for the killing.
00:31The Ministry of Education on Monday posted a condolence message to Mariah's family.
00:36The post read in part, quote,
00:38She was active in school life as a footballer, a member of the drama club, and a valued classmate and friend.
00:46Her absence will be deeply felt by her classmates, teammates and teachers and all her knew her.

00:53The Ministry said its Student Support Services Division will continue to provide counselling and support to the school community during this difficult time.
