01:32question there's no telling when it stops there's if you ask him an open-ended question he's definitely

01:38going to send it back to you with an open-ended answer this was mike mcdaniel when asked yesterday

01:44about dolphins culture

01:45this is a it's a pretty open-ended question but how would you define the culture inside of this

01:54building um how would i define the culture inside the building um i i think already you don't want

02:03to hear it he already gave you enough right there the fact that he returned he starts it off repeating

02:10the question hey you know you know that used to piss your parents off you say did you do that

02:20no there's nothing don't recall as a man when your girl is disgusted of you like she can't stand you

03:35how would you define the culture inside of this building um how would i define the culture inside the

03:43building good question um i i think uh there's uh uh a locker room full of connected people that are

03:53not connecting that um they say we do is kind of our mantra but we we do work to produce results and

04:04we fearlessly attack things that um we fail at so um as far as defining the culture i think people

04:13um are uh so are mostly responsible who you who you are working with and the direction are you making

04:22me turn this off and um yeah you see how long it is we have a unified um unified locker room and a unified

04:32um really really team uh that you know it's one of the things that um failure provides an opportunity to uh

04:41uh see that with transparency you can't you're not it's not as great in the same direction um

04:51you know a lot of times when people are uh uh when you experience collective uh failure you lose a game

04:59or or two games um you get to see exactly uh uh what type of culture you have based upon how people

05:07respond so uh it's one of what is i focus on response so much because to me that's all uh

05:14really life is and teams are and cultures are which one do you want this one

05:23you know we in a bad place where she's asking for sound

05:25minus one for lying that one for deception for being a loser

05:48something about culture what is the dolphin's culture in the building he said culture once

05:52he said so culture is results in a locker room something about failure gives you a chance

06:11two months have just been two years well i mean yeah but

06:14he sounds like a guy that knows his is you know his days are numbered here it's right

06:26up it's it's crazy not even no it's really bad no he doesn't you know why because eventually a

06:36so to win games you have to win the game um not lose the game again honestly i would say this

06:42that just take the microphone and i'm i'm gonna say this and this is the reality of how we do stuff

06:52if they were winning it'd be cute yeah but they're not so it's annoying that's the general

06:58nature but he also but he also seems lost he can't read the room he can't be he seems lost let

07:15i think sometimes coaches get caught up in trying so hard not to say anything

07:22that it just comes across like mike mcdaniel right like he does a lot of talking without

07:28saying anything there's coaches that do that right there's coaches that are very short

07:34you know there's coaches that don't you know won't answer any questions like he tries to answer

07:40them in his own way while being thorough while saying nothing all at the same time yeah but that

07:44was genuinely a question that was basically like hey what's your what's your philosophy here like what

07:48do we get what do you got and he doesn't really have an answer you know why because

07:52and this is in all honesty any player will tell you this culture doesn't have a damn thing to do with

08:01the coach right you don't think so i mean look how how but even even even the how you do things and

08:10i'll even say this for the miami heat how you do things how you practice how you prepare okay the the

08:18things that you have to do to develop that comes from the coach but maintaining that that comes

08:24from the uds and the d waves and and and so from that standpoint the people who have the most access

08:31to the players or other but all that stuff is passed down like if you're going to use the heat

08:35as an example like all that stuff is passed down from the top of the organization like they all learn

08:40that yeah but but they have look they have rules but the culture is set by the players who enforce those

08:47rules all the time because coaches aren't with the players all the time and and how you work how you

08:55do things what you put your craft that comes from the players and is passed down from play from or you

09:02know but pat has things that he believes in and i think correct can articulate yeah like whether it's

09:07whether it means anything or not like if he's asked that pat riley has his mantras he has his principles

09:13yeah but i would i would say they would say the culture is how we approach our job how we approach

09:17work and how we put no he didn't he didn't say that no he didn't because it like i'm sure i could

09:24give him a lot if i if i could say here and go give him notes i could give him notes on things to say

09:28but he didn't say that he would deviate he he'd be a rogue everything he does he would be he would be

09:34rogue like you know what here's what you you'd be whispering behind him all right coach okay we're

09:42gonna go into this presser you're gonna probably be asked these questions i have cue cards right so

09:48he does have people to do that you stick to the basics right

09:53as soon as it starts we got a rogue rogue one oh i'm sure i'm sure i'm sure the pr department

10:23surprising coaches teach culture players carry culture yeah that's but that's what i'm saying very

10:30profound for a guy who just tells us to go to hell though like there's been a bunch of coaches

10:33that have a way of doing things but it never gets through to their players i'll give you a perfect

10:39example big fangio like how he did things didn't go well with the other players but it was probably

10:48because of his delivery and not having anybody on his you know on that defense that could pass that

10:56message on yeah no there's no doubt about that you know when the old don't like having their

11:02message carried on they like to just give it like that you know take a break the damage is done my

11:11friend really we've been damaged was done for the last hour and a half now we're gonna actually play

11:17the game damage is done you have to win the games you have to win the game really um not lose the game
