00:00The Dolphins and Canes!
00:01A football winning weekend.
00:03It wasn't the best looking of Dolphins wins.
00:08But how many times have we complained about them not winning these games?
00:12Look, I understand.
00:14I'm not complaining about the win.
00:18Trust me.
00:19They didn't look great.
00:20No.
00:21And it was just, you just saw when both teams were 3-7.
00:25You know, like you saw the decision making,
00:29especially the coaches, was questionable.
00:33You made a valid point.
00:36And this is kind of how you have to, you know, understand.
00:44That the leader of your team, the head coach,
00:50regardless of what the analytics say as to what to do,
00:54when to do it, and how to do it,
00:56there is nobody in the world that should have a better grasp
01:01of what your team can do more than you.
01:04Right.
01:05So, in that moment, when it's fourth and one,
01:11you want to score and try to ice the game
01:13or try to have a lead where you can't lose.
01:16However, you went at it two or three times
01:21and came up with donuts.
01:24Right.
01:24Both of you.
01:25So, what in the hell makes you think you're going to get it this time?
01:29That's what I'm saying.
01:30You have to be aware, even though,
01:32and if you would have said,
01:33you know what, I'm going to just take the points
01:36because we were 0 for it.
01:38Everybody would have respected that.
01:39Especially the idea.
01:40But here's the other thing.
01:41If they would have got it,
01:44then we would have caused it.
01:45They got stones moving.
01:46And a lot of coaches want stones instead of victory.
01:51This is the thing that I was confused about.
01:53So, like, the game was 13-13.
01:56Dan and I were talking about this before the game.
01:57Right?
01:57Like, Dan, it was a weird game
01:59because the ball was moving a lot,
02:01but then they got to the red zone,
02:02and the red zone was the dead zone.
02:04Like, nothing was happening in the red zone at all.
02:06It makes it a little bit,
02:08one of the things that it does
02:10that a lot of people don't sometimes understand
02:12is constricts everything.
02:15So, if you have speed,
02:19they don't have to worry about getting beat deep.
02:21So, all they have to worry about is what you do well,
02:24the crossing routes, the whatever.
02:26That's why you need to,
02:27you cross everybody and have that tight end,
02:29find an open area in the middle of the field.
02:31When you have that, it works out.
02:33So, you can get away with it.
02:35You also have to,
02:37I don't know if,
02:40every time I see them get in the red zone
02:43and they made an attempt to be physical and run,
02:46the first down and the second down worked.
02:49So, it always got down to third and two,
02:53third and three.
02:55That's the play you screw up on.
02:57He got, like, right onto the doorstep, A-chan,
03:00and then he got held back.
03:01And I was like, you know what?
03:02Okay.
03:03Now, it's like, let's set up for this field goal.
03:06Like, that was the,
03:06they got to the two-minute warning.
03:08I'm like, commanders are not going to go and,
03:11like, okay, if they go in tight,
03:13they're not going to go to the end zone and beat you.
03:14At the worst, it's going to go to overtime.
03:16I just didn't want them to come away empty
03:18because you're going to be sitting in a situation
03:21where the commanders were going to have enough time
03:23to come back.
03:24But the thing that was weird is
03:25the drive before,
03:27when the commanders had it,
03:28they went for it too.
03:30And I also didn't understand that.
03:32I'm like,
03:32why is a game that no points are happening?
03:36I,
03:37why are we just giving up points?
03:39I didn't understand Dan Quinn doing it,
03:41and I didn't understand Mike McDaniel doing it.
03:43It was weird.
03:44Now, they did have a stat during the game,
03:45which I was unaware of,
03:47that the Dolphins in goal-to-goal situation.
03:51Yeah, they scored every time.
03:51They were perfect.
03:52I didn't know that up until they weren't.
03:54So, keep in mind,
03:56this is also what you're thinking about,
04:00that we've had a lot of success doing this.
04:02Yes, and that was a great play.
04:04When they got stopped,
04:05was it Bobby Wagner, Dan,
04:06the linebacker?
04:07It was a great play by Bobby Wagner.
04:10Two was trying to do that,
04:11like, little play that he does to Tyreek all the time,
04:13to Waddle.
04:13And Wagner just gets it.
04:15It was a great play.
04:16Great play.
04:16Right.
04:18It's just,
04:19when you had a game,
04:21okay,
04:21the drive starts,
04:23and you basically go three and out,
04:26right?
04:27Tua gets sacked,
04:28and they punt,
04:30and this guy,
04:31apparently,
04:31this is his first punt return,
04:32and he didn't read the toes.
04:34I don't know what that guy is.
04:35Like, that's got to be,
04:36that was his first,
04:37it was his first time ever doing it.
04:38Let me explain something.
04:41There is only one job.
04:42on the football field
04:45that has you
04:47the most defenseless
04:49punt returner.
04:51You know why?
04:53Because you got two eyes
04:54that can only look one way,
04:55but you try to make him look two different directions.
04:59You try to have him look at the ball
05:01and the rush.
05:03Does anybody volunteer to return punts?
05:06I'm sorry.
05:07Does anybody?
05:07Does anybody return?
05:09Yeah, I don't know.
05:09They said,
05:10I think that he hadn't done
05:11since college.
05:13Right.
05:13What year was it for him?
05:14I don't know.
05:15But they practice,
05:16if he was back there,
05:17they do it every day.
05:17Their normal guy was out.
05:19They do it every day
05:20if he's back there.
05:21So it's not like
05:22we're picking a rando
05:23guy to do it.
05:24Well, he
05:25he didn't even come close.
05:26And then Ethan Bonner
05:27gets through it.
05:28He looks shaky from him.
05:28Ethan Bonner returns,
05:30gets the,
05:30so they get the ball back.
05:31Like,
05:32you get this gift.
05:33And I'm just like,
05:34just take the points, dude.
05:35Just take the ball.
05:35And he's just like,
05:36McDaniel's just like,
05:37nah, dude.
05:38Ball's on the table.
05:39I'm going for it.
05:40Well, at that point,
05:41it's free money.
05:43I get you.
05:43But I've,
05:44but you're not,
05:44but you're turning down
05:45the money.
05:46Again,
05:46let's look at it
05:48from a perspective
05:49of this.
05:51You're talking about
05:52a team,
05:53regardless of what
05:54their record was,
05:55going into this game,
05:57perfect in the red zone.
05:58I understand.
05:59Perfect in goal-to-goal
06:00situation.
06:01Yep.
06:01So why would the coach
06:03not think
06:04they would be successful?
06:07Yeah.
06:07Especially like,
06:08you just missed
06:08your first one.
06:09You're just like,
06:10we can do it.
06:10I like,
06:11I get it,
06:12but also it just feels
06:13like you overthought it.
06:15And so,
06:16so you don't get it.
06:19And then there's
06:19this time left.
06:20And of course,
06:21the command,
06:21now the commanders,
06:22thank God for the commanders
06:23because they're also stupid.
06:25They're also stupid
06:26because they're like
06:28humming down the field.
06:30Debo,
06:3128 yards,
06:32finds Jacoby Jones
06:33who's on the commanders.
06:34He goes 25 yards.
06:35And so like,
06:37you're like,
06:37great.
06:38You set yourself up
06:38in two plays.
06:39And you're just like,
06:40you know what we should do?
06:41We should just keep,
06:42like set yourself up
06:43for a 50 yarder.
06:45We've gotten too cocky
06:46with the kickers.
06:47This is happening.
06:47Here's the problem though.
06:51Here's a,
06:52and I was,
06:53would tell you
06:54if I'm a coach
06:55what I'm thinking.
06:56What is the worst thing
06:58that could happen
06:59in this situation?
07:00a sack.
07:02Right?
07:03So you just don't
07:04put yourself
07:05in that situation.
07:06Right.
07:06And,
07:06and,
07:07and,
07:07but if
07:09you had a kicker
07:11that only had a leg
07:12to go 50 yards,
07:13you would have been
07:14more aggressive.
07:15And that,
07:16that sucks
07:17because that's how
07:18they think.
07:20We're in field goal range.
07:22Let's not do anything
07:23to screw it up.
07:25And so they ran it,
07:26but that's asking
07:28a bit much to say
07:29we're in field goal range
07:30at 56.
07:31Yeah.
07:32When you probably
07:32should be saying
07:33we need one more
07:34first down to be safe.
07:35you should punch it
07:36a couple of times.
07:37And they were just like,
07:37let's go deep balls.
07:38I'm like,
07:39what?
07:40Exactly.
07:40I didn't understand that.
07:41And so whatever.
07:43So we go to overtime
07:44dolphins win,
07:46but defer.
07:46And then Jack Jones,
07:47awesome interception.
07:48And guess what?
07:51The commanders coach
07:52is probably over there
07:52going.
07:53That's why.
07:54That's why we didn't
07:55throw it on the other.
07:56Probably.
07:56Right.
07:57You see what I mean?
07:58Like Jones said,
07:58I think after the game,
07:59didn't he say like,
08:00I just needed to Marcus
08:01Mariota to throw it
08:02because he's no good
08:03at that.
08:04And I'm just like,
08:05he's a good,
08:06he's,
08:07he was,
08:07he was having himself
08:08a day yesterday
08:09on social media,
08:10Jack Jones,
08:11but he was cocking,
08:12but that's,
08:13that's kind of like,
08:15you know,
08:17your players,
08:18you know,
08:19your team tendencies,
08:20you,
08:22you have a sheet.
08:24That gives you
08:25the analytics of it.
08:28Right.
08:29But sometimes,
08:30sometimes you got to go
08:33Jack McKeon on it.
08:35Yeah.
08:35Got gut feeling.
08:36Got feeling.
08:37And when we looking
08:39at them down there,
08:40I,
08:40I said,
08:41yeah,
08:42you go for it.
08:43You try to end the game
08:44because you like,
08:45don't put it in somebody
08:47else's hands.
08:47You go and take control of it.
08:49And I said,
08:50and the other thing is,
08:52is if the Washington
08:55commanders can go 99 yards
08:58with Marcus Mariota,
09:01then I'm a tip my hat.
09:02Right.
09:03So that's why,
09:04that's why you go for it.
09:07You see what I mean?
09:09Oh,
09:09that's why you would take
09:09the points.
09:10No,
09:11that's why you go for it.
09:13You're like,
09:14no matter what,
09:15but if they,
09:17but I always thought this,
09:18here's what I thought.
09:19Here's what I thought.
09:19I was told as far as coaching,
09:23there's two things you always do
09:26when it comes to kicking
09:27versus going for it.
09:29First points,
09:31points to take the lead
09:32in the half,
09:33in the game.
09:34That was my point.
09:35Just take the lead.
09:36That,
09:36that,
09:37but,
09:37but that whole theory
09:38is out the window in lately
09:40because everybody's,
09:41I don't know.
09:41But that's,
09:42so me,
09:44well,
09:44you know,
09:44I think it is.
09:45I think it's because,
09:46and this goes to the decision
09:47that they were making
09:48with the kicker.
09:49I feel like
09:50it's become very chic now
09:52in the NFL
09:53because these kickers
09:54are bombing it.
09:55Right.
09:55And you have the dynamic kickoff.
09:57Right.
09:58It's becoming very easy
09:59to get into field goal range.
10:00So it almost feels like
10:02the three's automatic.
10:04I kind of understand,
10:05but that,
10:06that game,
10:07it hadn't been that way.
10:08He had already missed a kick.
10:09I was just like,
10:10I don't know the feel of the game.
10:12I didn't like the decision.
10:12Whatever.
10:13That's where I'm getting at
10:14is that the whole point
10:16of all of this is
10:19you have to have
10:20a better feel
10:21for the game
10:22than anybody else.
10:23You see what I mean?
10:25And so that's,
10:27sometimes I hate analytics
10:30for that reason.
10:31Right.
10:32I hate analytics
10:32because you've been
10:34with these guys
10:35for five months now.
10:37There is nobody
10:38who knows what they can
10:39and can't do more
10:40than the head coach.
10:41And so to sit here
10:43and,
10:45and,
10:45and kind of,
10:46and,
10:47but again,
10:48they had been perfect.
10:51So,
10:52so like,
10:53if you miss it one time,
10:55it's just what you said though.
10:56It's just for me,
10:57I was like,
10:58just take the lead.
10:59Take the lead.
10:59Just take the lead.
11:00Right.
11:00Just take the lead.
11:01That's it.
11:01I'm,
11:02I'm all for stones.
11:03I like,
11:04I like stone.
11:05It was unnecessary stones.
11:06So how about this?
11:07So,
11:08and I'm just thinking,
11:10let's see.
11:10Okay.
11:11You take those points.
11:12Then you kick off.
11:14Okay.
11:15That's one obstacle.
11:16You got to,
11:17right.
11:18You,
11:19well,
11:19it's just like,
11:19instead of the ball
11:20being on the one or two,
11:22now the ball's on 2530.
11:25The only disaster scenario though,
11:26is if you didn't go
11:27over the touchdown
11:28and then they score touchdown,
11:30that's the only disaster.
11:31Right.
11:32Like that's,
11:32you know,
11:33but the,
11:34the disaster scenario
11:35is you go for it.
11:36You don't get it.
11:37Zero points.
11:38They beat you with a field goal,
11:39which is what almost happened.
11:41Yeah.
11:42So look,
11:43two coaches.
11:44I thought their,
11:44their,
11:45their,
11:45their balls were too big
11:46to coach that game
11:47for three and seven teams.
11:48That's what it felt like.
11:49Cause Dan,
11:50I was almost like,
11:50is there a gentleman's agreement
11:51amongst,
11:52I know they're friends.
11:53So it was like,
11:53Dan Quinn,
11:54like I'm,
11:55I'm coaching this game.
11:56Mike,
11:56you know,
11:56like I got nothing to lose.
11:58I was like,
11:58I really got nothing to lose.
11:59They fired my general manager.
12:00So I guess we're going to go
12:01at this one,
12:02whatever they went.
12:04The dolphins are rolling.
12:04They got two in a row and
12:06they got the bi-week.
12:09You get to sit on it.
12:09You get to sit in some wins
12:10and come back for the saints.
12:11How many points can they score
12:12in bi-week?
12:13What's the over on it?
12:14I don't know.
12:14It's a good question.
12:15Will he go for it?

12:23Final numbers from yesterday
12:24as they beat the commanders
12:2616 to 13.
12:27Devon H and 165 total yards.
12:30He's good.
12:30Tua, 14 to 20, 171 yards.
12:34Ollie Gordon, he had a good game.
12:36Nine carries.
12:36Only 20 passes, huh?
12:38Oh, listen.
12:40They were very, very limited on the Tua.
12:43They were big time run game.
12:44Well, because first of all,
12:46that defense is not terrible.
12:49And they do get after the quarterback.
12:52Yeah, 32.
12:52Waddle had some big drops.
12:55He could have very easily
12:56been like 16, 17 for 20.
12:59Ollie Gordon, nine carries, 45 yards.
13:01He had the lone Dolphins touchdown.
13:04And that's that.
13:05Those were the numbers for your fins.
