00:00The Domination of Cain
00:07No one can beat it at present.
00:14Nothing and nobody is a match for its sagacity, its cleverness and its cunning.
00:21For it always knows everything better, and it promptly covers up whatever it eventually
00:31does not, with a mantle of apparent wisdom, so that its power and influence remain untouched.
00:41For everything, it finds eloquent explanations, convincing arguments, persuasive justifications,
00:51implications.
00:54We are talking about human reasoning, the intellect, which arrogated itself to know it all in matters
01:05that do not concern it, and that thereby strangle the voice of the spirit, intuition.
01:14It is the king who killed Abel.
01:17Even when here and there the able spirit still manages to show himself through an almost inaudible
01:27whisper of intuition, the Cain intellect intervenes immediately to solely assert his opinion.
01:37An opinion that can never extend beyond a restricted material environment, given that he stemmed from
01:47that very same material substance, although he insolently cultivates the habit of entitling
01:56himself as the presence of mind.
02:02Brazilian writer Ruben Alves tells a curious story that well illustrates the sagacity of the
02:10intellect.
02:11In a small town in a small town in the United States there was a very conservative and strict
02:19protestant community concerning ethical principles.
02:24In that same location there was also a beer factory, which for that church was the vanguard of
02:33satan treated likewise at the pulpit. One day the brewery expressed its intention to donate
02:43five hundred thousand dollars to the church. At first the adherents were categorical in denouncing that
02:52money as the work of the devil, which they could not accept in any way. However, after the excitement of
03:03the first days passed, some voices began to rise in favor of possible acceptance under certain conditions.
03:12After much discussion, they recorded the following decision in the minute's book.
03:21Quote,
03:22The church, church name, decides to accept the offer of five hundred thousand dollars from the brewery,
03:31brewery name, and the firm conviction that the devil will be furious when he sees his money used for the glory of the Lord.
03:40End quote.
03:43The singular decision of the church members characterizes, in reality, a capitulation disguised as a good intention.
03:54We see this clearly because we are looking at it from outside. But the same thing happens to us when we need to make relevant decisions.
04:04We do not notice the similarity of the situation because, in this case, we are looking from the inside.
04:15Ergo, we are under the dominance of the cunning king without sensing his presence.
04:22Even when intuition still manages to admonish us to act in a certain way, we often indulge in Cain's arguments and make a different choice, a wrong one, of which we later regret hopelessly and bitterly.
04:41The only way to uproot Cain from the usurped throne and remove him from his domain is to strengthen intuition, by which the spirit asserts itself.
04:55However, this will only happen if we direct our volition exclusively towards the good, unreservedly.
05:06Only then will Abel, the true sage, be able to revive and retake his rightful place.
05:17And only then will spiritual development be able to proceed, after having remained stagnant and even sat back for millennia.
